StarCraft II

I won't be surprised if they brought back Tassadar in the form of a spirit or Khala or whatever they call it. Heck, they even made a unit portrait of him.

Of course, this doesn't mean anything considering the fact that they made portraits for other dead characters, but I hope they fully explore the idea of high templar + dark templar energy crap, since only Tassadar mastered it.

On a side note, my gamestore just called. Apparently, they could only acquire 4 copies of the collector's edition (which I'm getting), but it's 1999 HKD (about 200+ US dollars). An average game is about 200-300 HKD in Hong Kong.

I wonder why the collector's edition is so limited.

I like the power infested Kerrigan yields. I need a damn queen, not some foot soldier wuss who takes ordered from some neckbeard in a Battle Cruiser.

Plus, I enjoy the idea of being corrupted as we elope and becoming the king of blades and having awesome royalty-****s with little miss badass with her exotic dreads and questionable, undoubtably more interesting nether regions. Pretty sure infestation comes with Infestedkerrigansex, and probably growing some awesome badass wings and commanding immense power. Sign me up.

Potential porn cash-in for Bob Kotick here, Blizzard should outsource development of the dating sim mini-game to Treyarch and create a reality show akin to Tila Tequila on NBC. Everyone wants a crack at that tight lil' spawning pool. Dating sim will be three part as well cept' with micro-transactions for additional haircuts, positions and RED DOT SIGHTS GRENADE LAUNCHERS and special infestation proof condoms or something.

Dude?????

I wonder why the collector's edition is so limited.

I wonder...

It's sad that the Koreans can't get retail copies. I wonder why that is. Seems to strange to me for something like this not to have a retail version.

The everything-can-be-explained-by-ActiBlizzard-being-greedy-and-evil-explanation: They get more money from a digital sale than a retail sale and they know that this will be so big in Korea (also Korea has excellent broadband coverage) that people will buy it through any method, therefore this will get them more money.

Yeah. It's seriously disturbing.

I was going to keep the box to give to my grandchildren, and say: This is what I used to play, kids. This is what we did. And the legacy of Starcraft II would pass on like a heirloom, from generation to generation, my retail boxes of Starcraft: Battlechest and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty would continue to live forever, in the hearts of my descendants, and they will look upon the box and say, "This is what our ancestors did. This is what makes our blood run through our veins." And as the years pass, and nations rise and fall, and men wither and die, but that legacy, that invincible spirit of the RTS gamer, that pinnacle of modern civilization, the colossus that bestrode the world, Starcraft, would live on forever in its vacuum sealed box in the museum of all human history, and I would have been the one to have passed it on.

But it was not to be.

Ok so I'm guessing you learned your English from... watching Star Trek movies? Or maybe just hanging out with Patrick Stewart.

I don't think I would have cared if my parents had passd down to me what people were doing in the 50s and 60s. Watching old tiny TVs and listening to records? I guess some original Elvis LPs would be cool, but even that might be too new for that generation.

At Mission 8 in the regular StarCraft campaign, Episode I(Humans), boy, playing this again reminds me of how much I SUCK at this game.

Ah, this actually reminds me of Mass Effect.

Nah, I've learned my English through multiple, multiple, sources, from Starcraft to Lord of the Rings, 1984, etc. etc.

To be honest, I'm finding the single-player campaign in the original craptastically boring, somehow I'm skeptical the ones in II will be any better.

I am still pissed they cancelled StarCraft: Ghost, I was really hyped for that game since I like the general art-direction and setting of StarCraft.

Don't Activison-Blizzard understand how much cash they could make via a multi-plat StarCraft action-game?

I do like how theyve added SP-exclusive units that cant be used in MP.

And a touch of RPG-ness to the unit upgrades when you're not on the field.

Blizzard-Vision has almost 12 million paying subscribers on WoW.

At £8.99 a month, youre looking at *calculator* ROUGHLY £100,000,000 / $155,000,000 a month as some are on monthly subscriptions, others pay the £70-odd for 12 months etc etc.

Its basically cost them almost a month's worth of WoW subscriptions to make SC2, estimated at $100,000,000 in production costs making it the most expensive game ever to make (apparently).

Theyre pretty much the only game company in the world that is just hauling in the cash like a fat guy scooping up everyone's Maccy D's.

They are definitely not desperate enough to make a game like SC:Ghost. Money is no longer an issue for them in a way.

I liked and still like the original Starcraft campaigns. Especially the briefings.

GTAIV cost around $100,000,000 so it wouldn't be the most expensive then.

Got any source for that estimate anyway?

40 minutes to go!

Some ****ing idiot at the Wallstreet Journal said this--in actuality it was a statistic concerned with gross WoW development costs. An old figure, at that. They have hence revoked the statement and put out a correction/apology explaining the supposed "misappropriation." Blizzard actually hasn't released any statement whatsoever concerning Starcraft 2 development costs aside from informing the WSG that their figure was far too high.

I love the story and briefings etc, and the small convos in the missions, but I find the actual missions themselves to be fairly boring since most of them just boil down to build base, horde resources, build army, slaughter enemy, most of them, not all.

At least on the terran campaign, got bored before getting around to the other ones.

Wait, the installer is working. I'm installing at this moment! Installing now! Omgomgomgomgomg

I'm pissed I preordered sc2 to get into the beta. But now I have to wait for the box copy to be sent to my home and it hasn't even been sent out yet.

:D my preorder website just changed status from open to shipped

Oh god, currently playing Singleplayer.

IT. IS. BEAUTIFUL.

My Best Buy got it in this morning, saying to wait for the 27th in the email, but I've gotten countless games from them 1/2 days before street dates because store clerks don't really know much about retail PC Games, just the consoleolol shit like CoD.

Time to call and see if they have some dumbasses working today, hope so!

What the ****, get off the forums and play, don't be on hl2.net at a time like this. WHOA

My preorder website says "not preordered" and changed to "don't give a rat's ass".

I want to express my joy.

The masscre of Dominion marines and the defacement of posters that tell people to obey the dominion is quite fun!

I'll leave you guys now,. :p

EDIT: They put so many cinematics in here it feels like Mass Effect.

I watched that video the other day. Two things I noticed: The single player graphics look better than the multiplayer. Could just be my computer or the fact that I don't look around much in multiplayer... who knows, but there seems to be a lot more going on.
Also, I find it interesting that there are going to be more and different units in the single player. I think it will play out well. Blizzard has come a LOOOOOOOOOOONG way in its story crafting ability since the old days. Remember Warcraft 1's story? Yeah it wasn't really anything. Diablo 2 was really the turning point... where everything started getting better. I think Warcraft 3 and TFT were great stories and it carried over to WoW.

I think this will be a nice piece of work. I don't have the highest hopes in the world, but I don't expect to be disappointed by the single player. I'm really just happy to have a multiplayer record that won't be erased.

goddamn might as well live in the balkans

wat

You guys get N64 yet?

We're on par with Western Europe. I just don't give a shit about Starcraft 2. Am I interested in how the story develops? Sure. Am I going to pay two times the price of other games to get a sequel to a game I long since stopped caring about? **** no.

I simply find all the giddy excitement and hype amusing. I'm just waiting for the first "he spoiled Starcraft 2 so I knifed him" news to appear.

I know, I was being facetious. **** your savage third world country though--Bobby Kotick should buy and monetize certain elements, etc.

Excited for the anon plastering spoilers on every corner of the internet. I'm avoiding public boards like the plague until I finish SP.

I'm also excited for SC2 blamed murders, haha

Actually they did release a figure, but nobody picked up on it as they expressed it in gallons.

As in, how many gallons worth of liquefied $100s it took from their GIANT MONEY POOL.

Raynor dies.

I don't even own the game or know of the story of it, I just made that up to pleasure you, Spawn of Satan.

Is it weird that anonymous and all that crap has just developed in to this massive unified consciousness of troll?

It seems like it's more a bunch of 12-18 year old dudes with a few older - and thus creepier - guys who want to annoy and torment. The only reason they succeed is because they use every trick in the internet book to justify and perpetuate their mantra. There are some days that I wish the internet would be government regulated just to get rid of them.

I mean sometimes they have a good point to make... like in reference to Scientology, but it seems like anymore they're just out to piss everyone off at the same time to laugh at their own inside jokes.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
end of rant

So I guess there are giveaways at gamestop... I just don't know what it is or how I get it. I'm gonna call sometime before I go and check it out.

You mean like the fact that the Xel'Naga appear halfway through the campaign and upset the fragile balance between the Zerg, Protoss and Terran, forcing Kerrigan into an alliance of convenience with the Terran?

I've decided not to read the thread, for fears of spoilers.....:(

Is it weird that anonymous and all that crap has just developed in to this massive unified consciousness of troll?

Well ANON does do some good thing, they organize collective trolling of Scientologists for example.

Edit: Oh ****, I didn't see you already mentioned that. Now I feel like a tool.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO jealous of you right now Numbers! Gah! I still have to wait 12 more hours. ;(

I am super thrilled that you are loving it though :D
