StarCraft II

See, now thats just profiling.

*re-reads the story of the Korean kid who died as a result of playing SC non-stop for too long*

will be jerking it to uninfested/infested kerrigan lesbian porn in 9 hours, 13 minutes

Man, its 4am and I can't stop playing. Shitloads of cinematics, etc, etc, make this really look like Mass Effect, as I've said. The missions are fun, and you get to play with units that aren't in MP. Also a bit of customizing is there.

The missions are a little bit improved over the original Starcraft, and kinda reminds me a bit too much of Warcraft3. But still, it's fun, otherwise I would be sleeping/ playing MP.

I'll be buying it tomorrow. I would of had it delivered but I need an excuse to go into town (haven't been in two weeks). My day will be like:

  • Go into Town
  • Try on some suits suitable for my Sister's wedding (Apparently my birthday suit is not suitable)
  • Go to WH Smith and buy a magazine and maybe a family-sized slab of chocolate on offer
  • Buy a few DVDs on offer
  • Go to GAME and buy Starcraft Standard Edition (Was tempted to buy the Special Edition, but been let down by art books of other special editions, already have starcraft/brood war and don't play WOW so the Thor creature is pointless)
  • Go to Tesco Express, buy Soft Drinks on Offer
  • Go to Subway, buy either a Italian BMT or Turkey-Ham Footlong
  • Go Home
  • Enjoy the Rest
So that is probably £100 worth of good shit

I vote Italian BMT.

On Offer? Sounds scary.

UK is weird. At least they have Subway.

Well we all call that a sale. Usually when someone's offering, it's drugs... or poison... or candy.

Damnit, I am feeling myself getting sucked into the hype and I wasn't even looking forward to this game.

I blame the lack of other releases. Plus Numbers' remark that there are loads of cutscenes.

I just started my preload for the digital download!

Anything to avoid sales tax! :p

There are always some form of offers available throughout the year, but you have just reminded me that HMV have a sale at the moment. I'm going to be so cheeky I will buy the whole store then get one of them to buy me a KFC family bucket

Liveblog – StarCraft 2: The Installerising (by RPS's Alec Meer)

A little dog! A little dog ran by, yelping cutely! StarCraft 2: 10/10.

It’s leading me, like Lassie. Can I shoot it?

No, I can’t shoot it. StarCraft 2: 1/10.

I can change the song on the jukebox in the bar in the briefing menu/level/thing. And there’s a dirty-country version of Suspicious Minds on it. StarCraft 2: 11/10.

Hmm, I’m reverting to my teenage ways of building as much as possible, selecting everything then right-clicking in the furthest corner of the map. I suspect this is not training me to be a multiplayer elite.

Well, reading that just made the wait even worse.

Probably won't be getting the game for a couple of months. ;(

I'm financially handicapped at the moment.

I kind of want to get it, I kind of don't want to bother. I'm not a starcraft fan really (which isn't to say I dislike it, I just never really played the first one too much, and never really "got" it. I also hate playing strategy games in multiplayer.

So you guy let me know how good the singleplayer is and how long it is. K? I've heard uncool things about it, like that they're releasing the game in essentially expansion pack form, which I assume means the SP for the game will be kinda lamesauce for a sixty dollar game.

Actually Krynn, the first StarCraft had 30 missions for the single player which covered all three different races. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty has about 30 missions and covers just the Terran's part of the story, so there will be much more depth in the campaign and storyline.
And even if you don't like playing the standard multiplayer online(which is a pity) there will be tons of custom maps people are making and there will be so much awesome™ and creativity in them which alone might make it worth the purchase if you're into that.

Anyways, I'm going to be hitting one of the local GameStops for the midnight release in just a few hours!

FINALLY!!!!1

I'm thinking I'll see if I can grab one tomorrow.

Question: I'm running a Mac. Will they have Mac copies at Game Stop or will I have to deal with the Apple Store?

Just installed my copy! Just need to (hopefully) get a key tomorrow!

Installing... I wish I could skip work tomorrow... Oh well I'm taking friday off.

Edit - I also got a poster... but it's exactly the same on both sides.. is that weird to anyone else?

the hell? are people getting them from shipping orders arriving early? or are stores letting the copies go out early?

No, it's officially released everywhere already. The copies are meant to go out now.

just got my hands on it from Gamestop. I had no pre-order and walked away with a standard copy. MMMMMMMMMMM

This.

I'm in the same seat so.

The attention to detail in this game is above amazing. It's not a "Build army, attack" kind of SP. This one is very fun and very story driven. Like it should be.

This has to be one of the most engaging RTS single player experiences I've ever come across. Like you said, you don't just hop from mission to mission with a briefing... and it has something that I've only seen in one other RTS ever - sustained upgrades. I mean of course it's not all the upgrades else the game would be boring, but just enough that it moves you beyond the drugery of upgrading the same crap every mission.

By the way the last time I saw this was Earth 2150. I'm sure it's in other games, but that game was the last one I played with that feature. I only wish I didn't have work tomorrow. I might save multiplayer for the weekend or at least until I get some more single player action out of the way.

The RTS action itself feels about like it did before in that the difficulty is often front loaded, but from what I've seen they've worked to ramp it up a bit as you continue. I think playing it on harder difficulties will make this ratcheting up thing a lot harder to deal with.

So far, pretty nice time. Can't wait to get in to more of it.

Sounds good! I look forward to noon tomorrow!

I liked the little summary of Starcraft 1 during the install, so I have some idea what the hell is going on.

Just got my copy at home now and am installing it. Can't wait to play at least a bit before I have to go to bed.
Also the story along with the installation is pretty tight.

Been awake since 7am with excitement...coupled with the fact that there's a fly that seems to like my face means sleeping is impossible.

Now just have to wait for the post which I know will be later than usual today. Its cruel that way.
