StarCraft II

AHA-Lambda, your question got me thinking on StarCraft lacking a difficulty-selector, apparently StarCraft had a scaling-AI which would become more aggressive the 'better' the player performed.

So perhaps you could have beaten it by playing as a pansy and letting the AI whoop your ass repeatedly?

I dunno.

ok i got a trial code from a friend and i'll try it out and see what i think. Tho it'll probly be a MP only thing when i'm largely just interested in the SP =/

wait if people are finding this quite a breeze on normal would a total RTS tard like me be able to do this on easy?

PS: I found starcraft 1 hard as **** =/

same here, I also found the first game hard. I'm used to easier RTS games and its because I suck at multitasking. I can do one thing really well but start adding more and more and I lose track.

but yeah just got my copy today at work! can't wait to play it when i finally get home cuz I'm just on a lunch break

can I get a demo code? :(

also someone can answer my questiong if the game got permanent whit a user id like in steam?

i believe the cd key does become tied to one battle.net account from what i have heard

Got my Collector's Edition in the post today, it's incredibly sexy. Coolest box design I've ever seen, and the goodies are totally worth the extra $40 imo. The hardcover art book alone is worth that, and there's also a prequel comic book, soundtrack CD, behind the scenes DVD, the super cool box, some Battle.net extras, and a USB drive with SC1 and Brood War preloaded, that is made out of metal and looks like Raynor's dogtags. It's got some weight to it and feels much better and less cheap than any other flashdrive I have.

Waiting for it to install right now. I'm going to finish the campaign before i even touch multiplayer. I can't believe this day is finally here, I've been mentally high-fiving my 10 year old self all day.

I just finished the resource gathering mission on the laval planet.

I'm enjoying it a LOT.

I can't say I understand. I've never seen an open beta contain the entire single player of a finished game. Not to mention the open beta is over... considering the game is released. I'm starting to think you've actually been hallucinating for the past 23 hours.

Yeah, but if it was, it was some very vivid hallucinations. :p

And no, the Korean open beta is open for at least a week. I think it's Blizzard's way of saying sorry for screwing us with no retail, no collectors, and horrible dubbing.

The day/night infestation mission was brilliant. My favorite so far.

Sounds like a pretty good value. I wish I got a better impression than what I saw at my friends place. The game just doesn't seem like something I'd like, but the art is really cool and everyone raves about it. Gah. Is there a demo or something with a real, full mission I can play? Whats this demo code business?

Good god, finally a proper difficult mission, the cargo trains one. THIS is hard.

Also Krynn I believe the guest pass is MP only. It would suck to get it without having played the first game. It would be really great if the game had a demo, but it doesn't. Go figure, pretty retarded imo.

Finished the game... A little disappointed with the short ending sequence. Usually blizzard games have a very long, drawn out ending cinematic, but this one was just there and gone... Enjoyed the game, but hated the end. 12 years and this is all I get? Really? REALLY?!

I lost all motivation to buy this game.

For a couple of reasons. Now don't bunch me into that boycott group, I don't care if everyone else has fun with it, that's not my concern. These are my own personal reasons.

For one, no one I care to play with is buying it. Mainly because they don't have the money, and we just play older RTS' at times anyway. Like a few days ago we played Empire Earth. I absolutely hate blizzard's matchmaking(PROTOSS V PROTOSS, WHO CAN MAKE THE MOST ZEALOTS IN THE FIRST THREE MINUTES), and it's not a 'waaah i keep losing' whining, I had a rather good w/l ratio in the beta. It just got boring and I remembered why I only played custom maps in the first.

Second, it will take a few months for the really good custom maps to start getting churned out. And that's all I care about multiplayer for.

Third: and what most ticks me off; they released an unfinished game as a full product. Sure, some of you guys will go, 'but they had brood war too', but that's not the point. Did they tell everyone 'Hey guys, you can buy our product, but you have to wait two years to get all of it'? No. Brood War was a cool expansion that came out of nowhere and was an awesome addition to Starcraft, at not too steep a price. Knowing Blizzard these days, I wouldn't be surprised if the two new Starcrafts were priced at 40-60USD. They charged 25USD for a ****ing mount in Warcraft. Why would they miss a chance to milk Starcraft? They pretty much announced 'to get the full Starcraft experience, you have to buy all three games, and when they come out you have to buy them or be left behind in multiplayer.' Not even to mention the rip-off that was the collector's edition, packing a bunch of stuff valued at probably $15 and marking the price up $40.

Now, normally, this wouldn't be a problem. But I learned from experience about episodic releases. I'm lookin' at you, Valve.

I have no problem with the product, and I'm sure it's a very nice game aside from ladder multiplayer, but how they presented it is just an offense to me as a consumer.

Okay. Rant over.

Yeah, the cost really bothers me as well.

The cinematics.... well they were good, but they didn't have that gritty feel. I mean, these two are my favorite cinematics of all time:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwtjYW1qmjM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv5ybRRz-vk

I mean, sure they look much better, but I wish there were more things blowing up and marines fighting for their lives, cornered in dark spaceships and desperate.

So, you are mad at a computer making you ATTEMPT at playing guys your own skill? Shit. Maybe you should play custom ga- OH WAIT.

Yeaahhh....So, an expansion that adds to to the single player while adding more shit in multiplayer. What's that? AN EXPANSION? Damn, too bad Brood Wars did that. Why are you so butt hurt about SC2 doing it? Probably the boycott.

Now, normally, this wouldn't be a problem. But I learned from experience about episodic releases. I'm lookin' at you, Valve.

This is far from Episodic. Quit being melodramatic.

Way to sound like one of the kids who give the game a 1 star on Amazon.

Mind my format. I'm too drunk to figure it out normally.

Willie said you were going to be mad. I already explained why it's different than Brood War.

played the first mission and loved it! very nice graphics, smooth, fun, can't wait to play more but with RTS games I can't play at night, especially running non stop for 5 days straight with less than 5 hrs of sleep and 85 degree heat and no AC at work. that and working on my car to pass the inspection and 3 people calling off of work!! god damned worst time for me to play Star Craft but its the shit right now. nearly sold out at work and we had like 50 copies

Way to defend your shitty complaints besides, "OH GOSH I KNEW YOU WOULD DO THAT"

Next time, address the post.

unfinished game

****. UNFINISHED GAME.

so I'm probably going to keep the Collector's Guide book in my safe. Don't know if it will be worth money or not, but I like collecting game related stuff plus there weren't many left

What's the point of "collecting" if you don't "collect" it? :D

Campaign is great thus far. Need to play more. Might start playing more Terran in MP due to single player.

I've finished about 11 missions on hard so far and I am absolutely loving this game! Story presentation and missions are exceptional and light years beyond the original. How they introduce new units and tech into the game is great and makes more sense.

Hard doesn't feel all that difficult at times. It has sometimes been a struggle for me to get established with the amount of pressure that is put on at the start(like the mission where you harvest special gas) but once the train is rolling there's no stop'n this hoss.

So far this has been well worth the wait. If only I didn't have to work and sleep... :)

Its sitting here, sometimes I open them, most of the time I don't. I may be weird like that but its just who I am. But believe me, there is plenty of collectible items I have burned through and enjoyed to death

It is not an unfinished game when the campaign itself is just as long (if not longer) as the whole 3 episodes of Starcraft.

Add me for some Mp games:

Name: Rico
Code: 647

**** it. I bought it anyways. If I am disappointed, I'm sending you guys the bill.

if you are disappointed you can always sell your PC with game to some Korean kid and delete everything else.

also I'm about to play more singleplayer. i don't feel tired yet and minecraft got me in the mood. don't ask me how other than its "fun to build shit" and then "I like to blow shit up/destroy stuff!"

Is it really? This was the only determining factor as to whether I buy SC2 or not.

Normal Mode feels like Easy mode at times. I still like it though, because In the summertime I don't put as much energy into my gaming

This singleplayer is great. I am lovin it so far. Tosh is a total badass. I think I made the right choice.

Warning: Light Spoiler regarding mission choice for Tosh
You mean you chose Tosh over Nova?

Are you blind? :p

I like how they added the achievements.

And Im liking the tech grinds for upgrades, gives you a sense of wanting to do everything as the upgrades are pretty sweeeeet.

Quick question, is it worth getting this if i haven't had any other starcraft experience?

edit: geez it's expensive for a pc game...
