Exactly. The Sting Ray felt threatened and acted out of instinct. Normally docile creatures, when threatened from above they throw their barbed tail upwards - in this case it was directly into Steve's chest. When you jump into the ocean, remember you're in a hundred(if not more) other species' territory.

Yeah, the fucking hippies that try to project their human emotions onto animals call him 'abusive to animals'. But animals he handled were no victims, they could have bitten him in half at any time, but they tolerated his presence. And his handling was needed because that's simply the way a crocodile is caught. I remember clearly he was always very careful about the stresslevels of the animals, so the lactic acid they produced from fighting back wouldn't kill them.

It's sad he died. I heard about 10 minutes after the incident. He was awesome. Loved life, loved the animals, loved what he did. Atleast he died doing what he loved.

It's so damn depressing. I watch Animal Planet often. It is one of my favorite networks. They're now airing these little memorial clips of Steve Irwin talking, speaking about how he wants to be remembered. From some interview or something. Then at the end, it shows his birth and death date.

I feel all choked up when I watch that. Then they had a show of his about his confessions... from 2004. They were talking about how his mom died and such, and he was all in tears. Pretty much had me in tears almost. Hearing about his mom dying, and now he's died... I really, really feel bad for his dad.

First time I have ever been affected like this from a celebrity's death. Probably because when I was younger I really liked the Crocodile Hunter.
