I like the 1989 Batman the best, Jack Nicholson as the Joker.

Which of the movies in the old series did you people like?

Batman (1989)
Batman Returns (1992)
Batman Forever (1995)
Batman & Robin (1997)

Everyone says the fourth sucks, so I won't watch that, but I don't think I've seen the third one, is it worth the money it costs to rent it? The first two were alright, but it's been like 10 years since I watched them.

The first two.

Returns. Beyond that, they ain't worth it. If you're a fan of the comics, Nicholson is going to suck - he played Jack Nicholson in that movie, not the Joker.

He plays himself in pretty much every movie he's in.

I also really want my father to see this, because my dad doesn't really like new actors, and Heath makes Nicholson's performance look like nothing.

Unfortunately my dad is one of those people that watches a new movie and during parts says, "Oh, they took that from, <insert movie they definitely did not take that idea from>", he does that about a hundred times. And if he does that during The Dark Knight, I'll get pissed, because I know he's simply being bitter about the fact that a pretty boy's performance of a psychopathic clown was 10x better than a classic actor's performance of a psychopathic clown.

I really had high hopes for this movie, I was hyped from the first reviews wich called it "amazing" but I must admit it ended up being just a good film.

Spoilers

A couple of things bothered me a lot from the movie, the first thing is the script: They try to put to much info and characthers and never develop them well in the film. for example the hong kong scene was just pointless, so was that asian gangster. They were of no use in the film. There were to many mobs as well in the film. They should have just kept the joker and the clowns.

The script wasn't well cut eiter, wich ment that you never new if you were seing the begining, the middle or the end of the movie, just when you thought that the movie was about the end another scene began...

The gadgets were also bugging me. What I liked about Batman Begings is that everything was suppose to be posible. Here batman has a lot of new toyish gadgets: the bike coming out of the rumbler, the shooting time bombs gun, the cable baloon and of course the machine to reveal the fingerprints from a torn bullet was completly stupid. The cell phone sonar thing integrated to his helmet was the most irelevant thing for sure. It seemed like I was watching a Mattel comercial for future toys.

In all those are the things that buged me the most. The acting is top notch though. Of course the joker but specially Dent.

My impressions:
1. Overall pretty good, minimal-nonsense superhero movie.

2. Joker was an interesting character, but lacked any depth or back-story.

3. 2Face was a nice surprise, I was not expecting that one.

4. Batman looks, and most importantly sounds, completely retarded in this series. I don't know why they thought it would be a good idea to make batman sound like he's vomiting whenever he's talking, but its atrocious. His new suit looks slightly less dorky than his last one, but that doesn't change the fact that he's running around in a rubber suit doing karate. He looks especially stupid in the end when he's running away.

5. They should not have killed 2Face. He was an interesting character, and I felt like they threw away what they were building up when they killed him. For similar reasons, they should have killed off the joker, simply because Heath Ledger is dead.

6. Bat sonar was total bullshit.

7. Skyhook was total bullshit.

8. Batmobile motorbike was total bullshit.

9. Boats blowing each other up was a nice trick, but they never fully explained why these people were on boats to begin with.

10. WAAAAAAAAAAAY too long. 30 minutes could have been cut off this movie if they just removed all this mawkish bullshit and slow-pans with heart-tugging speeches about that good old "dark knight."

11. Beginning was the best scene of the movie.

EDIT: Also, finger-print from bullet? WHAT THE ****?

Overall, a fairly decent superhero movie, one of the best of the bunch. At least it was better than that shit-fest Iron-Man. It definitely doesn't deserve all the acclaim it's getting in the press though. Too much hype in my opinion.

Resumes preety much my feelings.

This is without a doubt the best ****ing superhero movie I have ever seen in my entire life.
Best movie of 2008.

Seeing it at a regular cinema on Monday, can't wait for my second viewing!

Honestly, if you look at the Batpod closely, it's a rather amazing piece of movie engineering. The idea is crazy, but IF you set out to build something like it, that is exactly how you would do it. Everything about it, from steering mechanisms to it's electric drives is what you'd need to make it work.

The balloon extraction trick, as mentioned in the movie, isn't something made up for the film. It's the Skyhook technique, and is something that has been tried in reality by the CIA.

Most of the other criticisms I can't answer, since they're more of an opinionated nature, but I'll suffice it to say I strongly disagree with them.

So like I just saw it. **** me that was epic.

As great as Heath was(and trust me, he was fantastic), Aaron Eckhart impressed the hell out of me.

Aaron Eckhart is awesome in every single movie he's in.
He has an undefinable charisma with all of his roles.

Lol, except of course, you could never drive something like that, because the tire has no covering where the face is, so all that gravel, dirt, and dust would kick up into your face.

There was one thing I didn't understand-

When Rachel and Dent are both attached to the explosives, why does Batman tell the Squad that he is going to get Rachel if he really intended to get Dent?

Haven't read the whole thread, so you've probably already been told the answer, but
The Joker lied about the addresses to **** with Batman and the cops.

2. That's part of what makes it great, it adds mystery to him. I loved how he changed his story on the scars each time. Makes it creepier when he's just some psychopath with no explanation as to why or when.

4. His angry voice is pretty lame, but very forgivable and you get used to it quick.
How are you complaining about his suit and ass kicking moves? This is f*cking Batman, what the hell did you expect?
"Well, I saw Spider-Man, he is wearing spandex and doing karate, what's up with that?"
WHAT DID YOU EXPECT MANNN??

5. Agreed only if they intend to make a third film, but disagree if they intend to end the series here. But uhm... you do realize that they didn't know Heath was going to die, so what were you expecting them to do?
Director: "Uhm, yeah, I wanna have a scene where The Joker dies, you know just in case Heath Ledger dies in real life." -???

6. I know these films are a more realistic take on Batman, but it's still a comic book movie. Plus, the Bat Sonar was a very Bat-Like accessory, I liked it.

7. Comic book movie. Also, I thought that part was cool.

8. COMIC BOOK MOVIE! Also, how do you get off dissing The Batpod?
"Tony Stark's Suit, total bullshit. Batman's Batmobile, total bullshit, Greengoblin's Glider, total bullshit" That's such a weak argument, if you are going to argue that you might as well argue the fact that The Joker survived several punches to the face without even having a concussion. Or how Batman manages to never get shot in the big exposed mouth area of his mask. OR HOW HARVEY DENT SURVIVED BURNS THAT WOULD KILL YOU IN A MATTER OF HOURS.

9. They did, because The Joker was threatening to blow up the bridges I believe, so they wanted the people deported, including the criminals because so many of them were secretly working for The Joker.

10. Perfect length, you must be really impatient. Hell, I could have sat through another hour.

I must admit I didn't get the fingerprint thing. I simply didn't follow it clearly.

Probably the best movie I've seen ever. I'll be quoting that
pencil bit
for a long time.

Anyone else think there may be a possibility that
Harvey/Two-Face might still be alive? The fall wasn't much further than the one Maroni took, and Batman seemed totally unscathed.

didn't he flip the coin for himself before the fall? it landed heads up, he might have some spiritual link to the heads side of his coin :p

batman's suit was made to withstand hard landings

just watched it and this movie is the shit.

For some reason I keep having feelings that the new batmobile will look like that lambo.

Riddler in the next film? Intro to dick greyson? All I really know for sure is the bat films nowadays only get better and better

i just reserved some tickets for the 24th. Gonna be awesome!

If a stunt man can handle it, I think Batman can manage. ;)

Going to see at the Birmingham IMAX on the Friday after release!! :D

saw it yesterday in theaters, VERY AWESOME although it drags on a bit.

the joker is every bit as epic and psychotic as we all hoped

Joker moment
The part with disappearing pencil trick
Funny and disturbing.

I saw it yesterday, and i was enthralled by the movie, the only problem i had were the 2 retards sitting behind me! God dammit they laughed and made comments on every ****ing scene, every time something was happening, my focus was interrupted by these idiots...other than that, it was JAWESOME!

It's #3 on IMDB's Top 250. It's above ****ing Godfather II, can you believe that? It will probably drop a bit after a while, but it will probably remain in the top 10.

The Dark Side of the Moon

Many people are thinking it will get an Oscar. I really hope it does.

This was the best movie I have seen in a long time

Although
I thought I heard on these forums that the joker died laughing (although the ending for him was fantastic). Also, if there is a third film, who can be the villian? I suspected TwoFace all along...

I don't want a third film at all. It ended epically, and perfectly.

The Joker telling Batman that they will never kill one another.

Gordon basically saying everything that Batman truly is and represents, and showing him ride off on his Batpod.

Sure it was a bit of an unhappy ending, but I don't think "happy" when I think of Batman.

Its gone to number 1 on IMDB. I haven't seen it, but it can't be better than The Godfather.

I loved the film, and I don't see myself caring very much if the series ended here but I thought they had confirmed a 3rd film

Noob am I?

Edit: And what implied I cared about a happy ending? I settle for awesome whenever I can
