The Official HL2.net Chess Tournament Thread

If you mean mentally challenged I am going to have to disagree and fart in your general direction.
Consider yourself odoriferously challenged.

Sorry guys I completely forgot about the tournament D: Good thing I got disqualified :p

I think I have a pretty good shot at winning this tournament. Too bad for FatTony, he probably should have been second.

Haha yes, it was unfortunate I had to play you. Very good. Although making moves after midnight wasn't too smart :p.

Loser rounds Solaris? Or shall I do it for you :p haha

The following lost:

dAnthraxxx- Inactive?
BadHat
fattony123
Jellyworld
hl2netchamp ( pressure) - Inactive?
ViolentZken (z_ryuken)

So is everyone in this list still active? If so (minus pressure and Anthraxxx) then lets draw some matches.

But how do I do this? :/

1537 I'll challenge you.
Too late to join the tournament I'm afraid though.

It's kind of late to play in the tournament, but there will be a second one I'm sure. Until then, I've challenged you.

NB. Solaris, I made my move.

Meh, I'll have to wait for the next one then.

Shouldn't that be 31 moves? Or are we counting half moves

Damn, I seem to have lost my touch......

*hugs chess tournament trophy*

It's about 11:15 am in South Korea (Republic of Korea for you numbers) and I've been playing with him for about 8 hours today.

EDIT: Yeah, AM. I'm sorry, I'm used to the 24 hour time format.

Um no. It's 10:17 PM on the east coast US.. it might be like 11 AM over there though..

Good lord AntiAnto how can you get so far in the game with only 2 of your pawns being moved, interesting.

I'm not really sure which is the right way to say it. It took you 31 moves to beat me, and it took 61 moves to end the game.

Go AntiAnto!! :D

The pawns on the sides are much more defensive (e.g. the Sicilian Defense) or tend to embolden the idea of counterattacking in the center. The King's and the Queen's Pawns openings are both logical and practical because they open lines for the Bishops and the Queen. There is no use to move all your pawns.

It's intersting, I've noticed, your playing is style is amost exactly opposite of my own.

Damn, I resign.

I should never have done that gambit at the start, I don't know it well enough.

Well played.

Why'd you resign Solaris? Even if things look hopeless you might still be able to bounce back. Take a look the game I'm currently in as an example: http://www.redhotpawn.com/gameanalysis/boardhistory.php?gameid=2283116

All it takes is one mistake to change the outcome. I played most of that game like crap but because of one poor move, I suddenly have a chance to win.

It's very poor sportsmanship to keep playing when it's inevitable your going to lose, you're wasting both players time.

No headbutt, m'kay?

Yeah, but what happens with Raeven0 and bliink?

I can't play until I clean out one of the 6 games I have on now. 3 of them are taking forever to move.

Unless you are playing against me, I prefer you to see my grand finale.
Also, it is possible to lure a strong opponent into a stalemate. It is not possible to win with only a king, but it is possible to not lose. (;

If it's any consolation I already feel like resigning. :/

I'm in a real shitty position.

Wait, no, second wind.

I just went through like 100 moves in my head. I'm good.
