The Sims 3 Goes Gold, Set For Launch June 2

I wonder if those Star Trek props will be included at release or if you will have to buy them with SimsPoints off the Sims 3 marketplace..

I ****ing hate that EA made The Sims 3 microtransaction based..

Hope they don't limit the modding potential only to get more money.

I was considering on getting the collectors edition, but then the only things worth getting were the European car and the Classic car. Are they worth $10 a piece?

A car for 10 dollars?

DO IT MAN DO IT! Suggested Retail Price is at least 2,000 times that!

The Sims is booooooooring. My god I was bored when I played that game. Everything in it was so uninteresting I have no idea how so many of you liked it so much. I mean, I'm all for a slow paced game, but a slow paced game where you perform menial real life tasks sounds like the kind of thing that would make me want to kill myself. I played The Sims and some of the expansion pack for probably a total of 10-12 hours and I had to watch TV and browse the net while doing it just to stay awake.

Yeah but you're a dog with a Christmas hat, you're the goddamn epitome of excitement

Anyway I hope the Aussie release date is June first week like it seems to be everywhere else, I'm pretty excited.

This, might as well just re-install WoW and pay a subscription, EA makes you keep paying out your nose, they just have other ways of doing it.

I'm sure at its heart the Sim's series was/is/might be one day a good game, but if I buy Sims 3 I gotta buy expansion after expansion, no thankee.

Looks like the game is out if you know where to look :naughty: . Will definitely be trying it out soon.

So this.

It sounds incredibly bad in theory and is even worse in practice. I never understood why people played it at all, unless they had a really shit life and wanted to make it better by making another one, but then, there are MMOs where you can do that and have a lot more fun.

If you have never felt the excitement of a house that looks just like your own house you have not lived

I find management games very enjoyable. I don't enjoy the Sims at all. I'm not entirely sure why. Perhaps because it just never felt like there was any real economy to it. I suppose economy wasn't really the point. It's mostly about relationships, and making money is just a kind of input that goes up the better you are at relationships and some other skills.

And the relationship things generally felt too detached for me to bother with. I couldn't empathise with my peons at all. Perhaps I shouldn't call them peons. But then if I don't call them peons, then how can I send them off to fight.

I use to just want to throw big parties to all my neighbourhood. I played The Sims when American Pie was like... the film to have seen in school at the time, so yeah.

That and drown people.

Small room + couch in front of fireplace + paintings on walls + sim + "Sleep" = hours of fun

Definitely looking forward to this. I love building awesome houses.

So word on the street is the game has been leaked.

Im tempted to look but I know that if I do I wont be leaving my house for most of the summer.

WTF are you dribbling on about? There is no obligation or necessity to buy any of the expansion packs whatsoever. You've already admitted that you've never played any of the sims games previously so why you feel the necessity to disparage them simply because you apparently 'hate' the publisher is hilarious. What exactly did EA do? Kill your parents? Steal your inheritance? Molest you as a baby?

Firstly opinion is not fact. Secondly you need to comprehend that there is more to 'fun' game play than just shooting things. Occasionally its quite nice to put things into motion and see them pay off in a constructive manner rather than a destructive manner. Same reason people make contraptions in Garys mod, or Levels in Little Big Planet, or play Railway Tycoon or make Films in The Movies, or maybe even spend their spare time making HL2 mods.

WELL I GUESS I DON'T HAVE TO BOTHER READING THE REST OF YOUR POST THEN.

But, really, where you find these implications I'm not making is beyond me.

Muhahahaa then i can make horse faced sims and put them in a house without food!!

I guess it's just the Sims but better?

Btw if you're talking about playing it but the only version released... or available... is the leaked version then you might have a few srs legal issues to talk with the mods about.

I'm just sayin'.

If the real version is available... somewhere... and is totally legit then you should be a-okay.

Just played it for about an hour. So far seems pretty similar to The Sims 2. I've furnished my house somewhat, Went to a baseball game, and got a job working for the local crime syndicate. Can't wait to get a day off my new job so I can meet some of the people around town. The new trait system seems pretty cool. You are given the freedom to create the type of person you want.

Well I'm off to bed. Will play it some more tomorrow.

:/

Thrilling...

Yup.

You should all know how I work regarding piracy here, I won't have people admitting to it on this forum, it doesn't present us in a positive light.

Anyway that piece by KG on Eurogamer is really good, looking forward to getting my copy :D

I played Sims 1 a bit, didn't really enjoy it. I'll stick with the Civ games for when I feel like just managing things.

He was pretty positive about it in a recent RPS podcast as well, although he obviously couldn't go into too many details.

I've had the game on pre-order since Jan (bastard delay..), so I'm good. I just hope that the leak doesn't impact too negatively on sales (not that I think it will) otherwise it will undoubtedly lead to EA instigating some evil DRM down the line. I also wouldn't want to be in the boots of whomever leaked the game this early. It's too early to be a retailer, so its bound to be someone at a pressing plant and there aren't many of those.

What do you mean "this early"? It's two weeks from release and the game is gold. This sort of thing happens all the time.

The Sims 2 is the most pirated game ever during it's life time far surpassing Spore. EA still seems to make a health profit from it and i'm sure this leak won't bother them that much as the casual games who are the majority will still buy it.

Generally the copies aren't shipped out to stores until a week before though, that's often when leaks happen. This is almost certainly a case of a copy going walkies from a pressing plant. 2 weeks is early.

Wonder how bad it will look and run on minimum specs?

Probably not incredibly bad. The game is made with lower specs in mind. Although it still looks amazing on high settings. The sims faces have quite a bit of detail compared to previous games.

I wonder if we'll be able to have more direct control over our Sims' actions? Maybe control over facial expressions, such as ;)

I played the first Sims a lot back in the old days. I think I had all the expansions save for a few. Good times. Played Sims 2 too, but never to the extent of the original game.
