So we hit a stalemate mate. It is something you have to take on faith, as you have to do with all unfimular things.Neutrino said:Name one miracle of the New Testament that has been proven.
Because it brings about good teachings that make me feel like going out and doing something every day.Ikerous said:If there was a definitive arguement for either side, then the debate would have ended hundreds of years ago. There isnt. No one is going to win.
As for a stale mate.. why would believe something based on zero evidence... >_>

Raziaar said:Well I for one am against the way they decide to teach things in the catholic church. Not my religion, but they sure are violent in the ways they try to get people to practice the religion.
In my opinion, the Christian faith at least in the modern age is far less controlling than that of the catholic church. It seems that you are born into your religion if you are Catholic, and you go to special schools with(i've heard all sorts of horror stories) the possibility of very abusive teachers etc. With the Christian faith, at least with mine, noone is controlling me to believe in this stuff. I have the bible, and I base my beliefs off of that, and how I percieve it, not how others tell me to percieve it in schools etc. I wasn't born into my faith either, my parents let me choose, albeit with gentle nudging towards that which they deem most appropiate for me.
<shrug> Anyways, i've had enough political and religious discussions on these forums. Not saying I wont pop in from time to time, but i'll try to keep my head out of them except to post one or two irrellevant posts here and there.

My faith is in science, which has (so-far) done a reasonable job, IMO, in describing the ways of the world. I've never found any other faith which helped me this way.abconners said:So we hit a stalemate mate. It is something you have to take on faith, as you have to do with all unfimular things.
You're talking apples and oranges. Science is valid, because it is based on imperical evidence. But science does not tell you what matters in life. That is still up to you to decide. Look at me,. I disreguard faith, but as far as I'm concerned, people are the only thing thats truely relivant and important, because they are real in a way that material objects are not.abconners said:Than what is a valid view? abconners said:Well it means something to me. It gives me hope in a world that I see falling to its knees. I sincerely hope that one day you will see things differently.

Lol, the great argument. both of us are too stubron to admit the other is right. So I will give you the satisfaction in saying that you may be right.qckbeam said:And I hope that one day you may come to see things differently.

As long as you don't believe that murder is right it is all kew with me.f|uke said:And I personally dont care either way. You may hold onto your beliefs, as they do not affect me.
This is the way it should be. Let people live according to their own personal belief structure.

Im not telling you what to do, im just giving you my point of view on the world. Look, i dont care what you believe is right and wrong and Im sure you dont care what I believe. It is just that I believe in christianity and christianity calls me to spread the word of christ. Now I don't know if this is right or wrong, but I take it on faith, as you do your beliefs. I do sincerely hope you change your view because I beleive it needs to be changed. but that is my belief. We are all entitled to our opinions.Neutrino said:That's nice.
Look I couldn't care less what you believe. Doesn't effect me and it's your right to think whatever you want.
However, it's the attitude that your way is better than mine and the implied sense of pity for others unless they see things your way which pisses me off to no end. I'm always hearing things like, " I sincerely hope that one day you will see things differently." Well guess what? I'm perfectly happy with my own views and I don't like people telling me I should believe like they do.
Sorry for being somewhat harsh. This isn't really just a response to you, but to everyone I come across with such an attitude.

Yeah, take a look at those muslums. THey probably believe that killing innocent people will lead them to salvation. Religion can go too far some times.Neutrino said:You don't care what I believe, yet you want me to change my view? Bit of a contradiction there. This is my main problem with many religions. The fact that they feel the need to try to change other people's views.
Oh and no, I don't take any beliefs on faith. As I stated, I don't consider faith as a good way to view the world.
abconners said:Damn, I love forums.
I don't really care what your beliefs are (in general. no offence intended). But when you want me to change my beliefs and try to convince me that I'm wrong, at that point I sincerely hope you change your view, because I believe it needs to be changed. Sincere hoping is a short step from trying to force your beliefs on others, which is my 'problem' with religion, in total.abconners said:I do sincerely hope you change your view because I beleive it needs to be changed. but that is my belief.
