How about if you get 3,000+ posts you can put in a custom title but there are filters to stop people from putting in ones such as "admin" or "moderator", ect...

Then again outposts' idea of being here longest sounds pretty good too (I have been here for a really long time myself)

The problem with outpost's idea is that it isn't an indication of how well known / accepted by the community that user is. I mean, if it was based on join dates, Kuros Would be god, even through his knightly avatar is all but forgotten by everyone except the lonely wanderers who browse through the darkest recluses of the members list (like me).

In order to erradicate spam, while at the same time upholding a truly perfect ranking system- we would have to organise "bonus points", the opposite of warning points, where members are promoted depending on their maturity and response to... oh, never mind, no-one cares, and I can tell the mods are already rolling their eyes with boredom at yet another pointless and over-imaginitive idea I've dreampt up :imu:

Which is why I proposed the "bonus point" idea, which like I said, was the only perfect way to determine the community ranking of a member... but seeing as it's far too complex to even imagine in practice; I trailed off while muttering about it...

The periodic table. For each month you are a member, your atomic number increases by 1. So a newbie would be hydrogen, then helium etc. etc.

That gives about 103 months worth of changes, which is about 8.5 years worth, and I'm sure an alternative could be thought of before all the elements expire (that is if hl2.net still exists).

Thats not to say a post count related title can't be coupled with this - there is space under the username for the post title, and space next to the join date for an element (or even just the symbol of it, maybe with the atomic number in superscript if that's possible).
