Is the Blizzard downloader supposed to be such a bandwidth hog? I get a sucky 500 kb/s and all my other net apps like Firefox or Steam become sluggish as hell. I never had any problems with the downloader for WoW, since I have the the proper ports forwarded and everything. Any ideas?

Get Netlimiter 3. I use that to set a download limit on things,. that way I'm not stealing all of the bandwidth from my roomie while I'm streaming videos.

It turned out to be something else. The downloader has a direct download component and a torrent component. The latter ****s with my system, so I turned it off. Works like a charm now.

Btw Is singleplayer skirmish included in the beta or do I need to download mods for that? I need to practice a lot on the AI first.
 
You can play against AI but the given AI is quite horrible. The cracked versions of the AI are much better.
 
You can play the AI on bnet. Very Easy is all they have *They generally are EXTREMELY pushovers. Used primarily for you getting used to what units do what....*
 
Alright if you give me a beta key, I'll quit hl2.net forever.

I went over to enemy protoss base in the first game I played to get used to Terran, and the AI only had one gateway up when I had like 2 barracks and 1 factory and a lot of marines already up. That's how much of pushovers they are.

I just traded my account's use for a game so if I'm on it's probably not me.

I'm not sure when I'll be on tonight. I think there is a get together at the pizza place here. Boss paying for booze and pizza? Color me interested.

Haha just met one dumbass in gold league. TvT, he went for 3 factory with techs pretty early on. I think he had like one barrack and then he started building those. So I just built a starport and killed all his tanks with two banshees and he goes "F U LUCKER NOOB!" LOL WHAT :D

Playing as random and I'm finding ZvT the hardest matchup, well in some maps. In maps where the terran can close the choke quickly, I can't scout him, I have no idea where he's teching. Maybe I should just place one overseer next to the base and when I get the speed upgrade, go scout his base. Although If he's rushing banshees thats way too slow tech for scouting and it's gg's.
 
I read that blizzard will give new keys to menbers in the beta so they can invite friends...

*puppy eyes stare*
 
Too late, I've been giving Pitz puppy dog eyes for weeks now.
 
That has already happened. Most of the keys are already given out. You might find someone here that has one still.
 
Damnit. Be honest: was it the blood? I thought I washed all those eyes...

The beta sure does crash a lot. I'm guessing every third game ends in a crash. Can't really play 2on2's since either me or my friend are crashing all the time. Just had something amazing in a PvT match. The protoss was doing his last attack, didn't expand put all his units out, I saw his templars before so I built ghosts, when he attacked I pressed E and clicked on his templars, and it selected my medivac half a screen away, kinda anoying!!
 
That is weird. I've crashed probably 2 times out of it all, and I have no idea what's going on with using EMP on a Templar causing it to select the Medivac...

I haven't crashed once.

Those issues you are having are truly weird. Go report them on the beta forums.
 
Don't know about my friend but mine crashes only during loading or right after the game has started. Every time it has crashed some blizzard bug reporting thing will pop up. I've sent every report so far. Well still I don't mind loosing rank now since ladders will be reset.
 
I'm finding that turtling is the best strategy, atleast on gold ladder. Just turtle and scout now and then, and when the enemy decides to expand, attack. Hell even if I spend money on turrets I usually get it back because the enemy attacks and loses. And when he thinks that he can expand I'll just move in knowing he just spent 300/400 on building, not units.

Still need to learn how to turtle with zerg. I'm finding zerg vs zerg to be the most boring matchup in the game. Every game goes like this: attack with 6 lings, go for roaches, attack with 30 roaches, if not win, build hydralisks. Or build something else and the other zerg will run you over with either hydralisks or roaches :p

Also this real id is the most shittiest thing ever. I want to look at some random guys stats and I need to know his f girly name or what its called. Hell Blizzard why not put passwords in names on the next patch! You can't look at some players stats unless you guess his 512bit hashed password! Ye that would be nice!
 
You know when you're done with the game you can just right click their name -> add to friends, then view their info, right?

Also, they have said a few times that they plan on revamping the way that is, since they know it's a bitch.
 
Need to get more games on, where are all the .netters when I get on?
 
Usually it's just me and Xevrex, sometimes Letters gets on and sometimes Op gets on. Tav gets on for a couple of games before it's time for him to go, being a couple hours ahead of me and all :(
 
Not a real fan of most of the changes in that patch...mostly just the slight change to Stalkers, even then I think the damage should be 10/5(or higher) +1/1
Hopefully most of this patch won't last long.
