In order for a Battle.net account to be able to opt in to upcoming beta tests, you must have at least one Blizzard Entertainment game that you own attached to the account. Please note that the World of Warcraft trial edition does not count toward this requirement.

Meanwhile I think I figured out how to keep Broodwar from freezing my 7 box. I played for 1.5 hours last night successfully, where I lost keyboard halfway through but whatever. It involved:
1: using aforementioned batch script to kill explorer.exe and re-launch it upon completion;
2: keeping the resolution dialog open (not sure what this does but it was part of the winning combination);
NEW, probably the final important step:
3: closing my desktop widgets.

I'm gonna learn this damned game if it kills me, then I'mma destroy you all upon release!

Oh sweet... Phoenixes lift up siege tanks. Had a 2vs2 in which I masses phoenixes. I could disable the enemy teams attack force completely with them. shift + g and click on every key unit. Nothing beats disabling like 8 vikings and shooting them down while they can do nothing.

Lol, they are REALLY trying to get those numbers up to 10k. They are going to wipe out the beta servers and want to simulate a small release like craze to set up profiles and invite friends and the like.
