I am going to be a big supporter for this. I don't like the auto-mine and limited unit selection, but everything else sounds so delicious and exactly what SC2 need. Hopefully Blizzard will pick up on this and make changes accordingly!

Yeah man that's the way to go!

are you guys serious? I'm not sure about the balance changes but it looked to me like all the other "features" they had listed would make the game way worse

Blizzard claims to "listen to the community" but they continually ignore the protests of gamers who have been SC fans for so long. Thank goodness TeamLiquid has picked up the slack, can't wait for it!

Starcraft 2 is a sequel. A new game. Why in the world would Blizzard take out their new features that they worked a damn long time on, making units smarter, more usable? Next you're going to tell me you want the old 1990s game caliber pathfinding back.

Having always been an outsider-looking-in in terms of Blizzard fandom, it's occurred to me that Blizzard fans are the most entitled-acting sort I've ever witnessed. Observed from listening to my buddies discuss WoW mostly.

From the sc2promod website
Stalker and Immortal

This has been one of the hardest tasks for the coders: Reworking the pathing of the stalker and the immortal to mimic the behavior of their predecessor, the dragoon. It’s not quite the same yet, but it’s damn close, as our players confirm.
Along those lines goes a new attack animation for the stalker and the immortal that is more distinctive and helps identifying targeted units. Immortal damage has been changed to 10 + 10 vs armored.
I think this is the best feature as armies are too easy to control, I know stig loves it, but this is how it must be.

Yeah, I really can't wait for this. I also heard they are replacing all the sounds with the original Brood War sound files, which is awesome.

Why do I even bother D:

EDIT: I am now of the belief that I am being trolled right now so I'm just going to shut up before my head asplodes.

Yeah man seriously even the sounds are bad. I'm glad everything is being changed.

Really, I think SC2 is way too newb friendly. If they wanna get good, go play and practice SC1. Sheesh.

God.. is it just me or are there days when the matchmaking is incredibly ****ed up? Today has been the worst day for me, keep getting into mirror matches, and lost every single match I played tonight. WTF is that about?

Sometimes I hate this damn game, it can be so frustrating.

Oh and thank you Blizzard for nerfing marines and reactors to oblivion. Zerg can still make 10000 mutalisks, but now terrans have to ****ing fill their ENTIRE BASE full of barracks just so we can keep a 1 to 1 marine to muta ratio.

Oh yeah I forgot, I'm supposed to build thors now. Oh wait, they still suck and have paper armor! Yay!

Blizzard: We noticed Terrans are losing most games, and winning using cheese strategies. Don't worry we'll fix it.

Patch 8:

Terrans:

* Marines now require a Fusion Core to build
* Marine build time increased to 500s
* Thor armor is now -1, to accurately represent the look of the unit
* Banshees now have 100000 health and can one shot workers across the map. We hope this will solve the Terran mobility problems we saw in some 2v2 maps.
* Marauders have now been renamed to "rockit black guys"
* Marauder health reduced by 200hp
* Marauders now have the ability to burrow
* Marauders may now only repair buildings. Their attack has been removed.
* Vikings now do +20 damage to all units when firing at ground targets in Air mode
* Vikings now do +20 damage to all units when firing at air targets in ground mode.
* Vikings have been removed from the game, and have now been replaced by more Thors.
* Stimpacked marines now go through withdrawal and will require 1 more supply each time they use the ability.
* Stimpacked marines now require upkeep of 200 minerals per minute, per marine.
* Removed the ability to create SCVs.
* Removed Reapers ability to jump over terrain.
* Reapers now Cost 25 minerals and 400 gas. We hope that players will find them more affordable and viable now that they have been revised.

Protoss:

* Immortals are now immortal
* Colossus now has a range of 20 and a damage of +50 to light units.
* Phoenix attack changed to +10 against biological targets.
* Phoenix may now only attack bionic targets.
* Sentry shield abilities are now a passive aura.

Zerg:

* Replaced all units with roaches and mutalisks.
* Zerg players start out with 5 hatcheries built around the map by default.
* Zerg players start with 50000 minerals and 50000 gas to aid their ailing economy.
* All zerg units can now cloak.
* All zerg units have unlimited energy.
* Zerg drones now have the ability to launch nukes.
* Increased glaive wurm bounce damage to +20 per hit.
* Mutalisks can now 1 shot workers across the map, to balance out with the new terran changes.

Guys, do you even realize what day it is tomorrow... SC2 ProMod? Hello? Come in, Houston.

I'm looking for some people to play with more regularly. Hit me up: SubEngy.maine

God, I hate April First pranks. Especially when they did it before April First ...

But I'll be the first to admit that I have been had in an epic fashion.

The thing is, it's actually believable to me that some diehards would have already picked the game apart like that.

Oh yes, that got me too at first just because most of it is pretty believable.

We were wondering why on earth Blizzard was taking so long to release the beta, and now we know. What we have seen so far was just a shadow of things to come.
Blizzard has announced the second half of their matchmaking system. Sounds like a gift from Heaven.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing with you guys, but at the end of the night you're all still guys and I need something more.

I'm 6 and 17 and like 97th in the 40th division of the 1v1 copper league ... am I good as you guize yet? D:

Last I saw they sent a wave a few days ago. Check your battle.net account page, they don't send keys anymore.

Useful stuff. They're missing the "tip" to build missile turrets to prevent the dark templar parade ;o

I have to say I've won a few 1v1's due to that alone ...

Didn't see a mention that you can see cloacked units without detection. You just can't target them. Well I think you can kill cloacked units (without detection) with splash if you have sieges and target the drones.

Still lots of good info there, especially on control groups. I always had upgrade structures on different groups, never thought of putting them on the same group with nexus. Or putting queens on the same group with hatches.

So, is the game, even though its only in Beta, actually any good after the changes?

I was worried Dawn Of War 2 would flop after the awesomeness that was Dawn Of War, just wondering if the same has happened here?

As in, is it flopping or has it come back better than ever with bronze fists pounding?

It is not going to flop. It isn't perfect balance wise but with 3+ months of beta left and the fact that, with 2 expansions to come, Blizz is going to continue working on StarCraft full time I'm not worried about that.

The game is awesome fun to play, all the issues I had with SC1 are gone. As much as I enjoyed SC1, in every aspect I've seen SC2 is an improvement.

Bottom line: if you enjoyed SC1, you should enjoy SC2 more.

Unless you are hardcore hater who bitches about every little thing that makes the game "Way too newb friendly".

The game is badass. As op said, the little things in SC1 that drove me crazy *12 units a selection, no Multiple Building Selection, etc* are not present in SC2.

DoW2 changed the original Dawn of War way too ****ing much, and was bound to be a flop since they basically took Company of Heroes and reskinned it. They took out what made DoW1 fun.

Starcraft keeps the nostalgia element while adding in new things to make everything slightly more streamlined, getting you to the action of strategy faster.

Dear god I'm getting so pissed off on this crashing and "you were ****ing dropped". Just now I denied a two gate proxy cheese and just as I shot down the last pylon "HA HA HA YOU ARE DROPPED MATAFAKA!" *split keyboard in half*

I've never been dropped in game. I HAVE been getting dropped while chilling in battle.net and it just says that Bnet has lost connection and I have to re-sign in.

Bakurei, I wonder if there is something going on with your firewall/security? Looking through a whole bunch of forums, I'd be imagining if it was a problem with the game there would be more posts/threads about it, but I don't hear about it except for here with you.

This was a fun game...

:D

That was my thought too pitz. Hell I even removed my firewall to see if it helps :D

There was a thread on TL.net or battle.net about this "you were dropped". But on it they were suspecting this error to be because of account sharing. Which can't apply for me since I don't share this. It could be ISP related, but every time this happens I quickly alt+tab just to see if I'm still connected and I'm always connected.

I'm begining to suspect an indian burial ground under my house...
