Created by Wachowski Bros, this movie sets in Totalitarian Britain where people are treated like Soviet citizens. And guy name V (Hugo Weaving) acts like Zorro, trying to destroy the government itself and free citizens from the rule of iron fist.

The preview trailer hyped me up. This movie looks awesome.

Looks awesome. Lots of movies have been borrowing from the 1984-esque era and setting and this kinda has signs of the same.

I'm not complaining though :D

This looks to be very good. When my theater gets the print in im gonna watch the screening of it right away after its built.

I'm hesitant.

Maybe it'll be good - but maybe it'll be the matrix sequels.

I'm hesitant as well, but I love the whole Guy Fawkes aspect of it. I hope it doesn't suck.

Im really looking forward to this. I love movies with the whole totalitarian aspect to them.

It's cool how V speaks in riddles. I wonder how it'll sound with Hugo Weaving doing it.

I still don't see how they can get everything from the comic in it, but I just hope they don't remove too much stuff.

Yeah, it looks so good that there's already a thread about it here.

There are also a couple of threads for trailers for it. No offense, but a little judicial use of the Search tool will help reduce the number of redundant threads we have here.

That said, this movie does look awesome! But its not entirely created by the Wachowski brothers (they just did the screenplay and co-produced):
The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name – V for Vendetta first appeared in Warrior, an independent monthly comic magazine published in 1981, quickly capturing a cult following. Co-created by Alan Moore and David Lloyd, it ran in 26 issues before the magazine folded, leaving fans hanging mid-plot. After a five-year hiatus, Moore and Lloyd completed V for Vendetta in 1989 under the DC banner when it was released in its entirety as a graphic novel.
Source.

zomg? The comic was the ****ing awesome. Were is trailar lol?

hmm..there was already a thread on this movie before.
i will be checking it out.

I'm afraid their new ending will completely destroy it

THERE'S A NEW ENDING? WTF. MOORE'S ENDING WAS PERFECT!

I am excitied though. Looks to be the first "good" Alan Moore adaptation.

It will never happen but seeing a perfect adaptation of Watchmen into either film or mini series form would be capitol.

/orgasm. I'd literally orgasm my pants o__o. But a movie is impossible for Watchmen. A mini-series on HBO would be...how should I say...the meaning to life?

Thats how we feel. HBO mini-series is the way to go. A fat budget and Moore behind the project... /orgasm.

The critical buzz around Vendetta so far has definitely been very good. Reviews are starting to hit, and most of them point to this being a very well done and interesting film.

Maybe Moore will even like it n_n.
Probably not. I would definitely be excited if he did though.

I ventured over to Rotten Tomatoes and it seems like everyone's liking it. 5 fresh reviews, 2 rotten ones. And the rotten ones don't really cite it as a bad film. Looking good so far. I can only wonder if Ebert will like it.

Ill be seeing this on imax! Cant wait!

Am I the only one that LOVED the matrix sequels?

No, while I thought the second film was crap, the mechanized combat of the third was completely Godlike to me.

I didn't mind them at all, thought they were entertaining. Not the total mindblow that was the first movie...but what is?

This movie was absolutely amazing.

Conspiracy theorists and liberals will like it even more as it takes some political stabs and analogies.

How'd you see it already?

Saw it at a screening last night. I am a projectionist so I get to see movies before they come out.

I read the graphic novel last summer, and I loved it. I heard the movie is supposed to be pretty accurate with the graphic novel. I've heard from critics that this is one of the more pleasing comic book to movie adaptations.

Is that job difficult? And is the pay good?

If you're working in a theatre, projections is the best. The day-to-day stuff isn't hard, most of your time is spent alternating between threading and starting projectors and helping the ushers clean theatres. When you get new prints, you build them up into one large coil on a platter, and break down old ones. Still easy. The harder part is being able to quickly handle things when they go wrong.

Pay is largely dependent on whether there's a projection union. If not, you'll likely be paid the same as all the high school kids.

Pretty accurate.

However I dont have to build movies, tear down or help ushers clean.

Pay isn't the best, but for a highschool/just out of high school job it is pretty sweet. It is easy. Once you learn how to thread which takes a week or so to get the basics of it then you just gotta learn from your mistakes and go from there. We have 16 theaters at my location so im pretty busy as the only projectionist up there threading. At night its a bit easier, hour break when I arive, movies for an hour straight then I have an hour to do whatever I want till I do movies for another hour then I get a 2 hour break, then clean projectors for about an hour. I get to listen to music up there, watch movies, go downstairs and hang out with other employees, read a book, take a nap, whatever I want.

When something goes wrong you gotta figure it out, but there lots of precautions I take so stuff rarely ever goes wrong(ie. check prints, check threading) also I check the picture really well when I start it so people dont complain...that is always annoying.

Print moves kind of suck...taking a 35mm film thats about 3 feet wide and putting a few clamps on it and picking it up and moving it across the theater isn't a lot of fun. Its even less fun when the closing projectionist didn't do it so you find out right when your supposed to start the movie. You get to run all over to find the right movie.

Overall it is a sweet job though, I love it.

so hey, V for Vendetta is out today and i will be seeing it later on :D
