If so why, you paid nothing "extra" for that game. You paid for and got a Video card WITH a "free" game attached. When said game becomes available. Nothing more nothing less.

Now on the other hand "we" have been told on a "few" occasions "we" would receive data if you will, giving us indication that something was ready. Events that were missed.

Now like your "free game" we paid nothing for this content, YET UNLIKE you we were given a date.

Are you with me? You got a game for free with no expressed or implied date that the game would be ready.

We would get "information" (data) for free WITH an expressed, implied and EXACT date.

Yes we are "owed".

If I was going out to buy a new Video card and saw "Free copy of Half-Life 2 inside" on the box I would buy that card over another. And actual alot of people got ATI cards just because of this ad other wise they would have gone for the less costly nivdia cards.

Yes and no.

HL has "story/history" going for it. If someone else comes along and "ups the ante" on graphics (Stalker) or Physics (FarCry) the only thing HL has to lean on is story.

I may "appreciate" it because of its pedigree but I may not appreciate it as much if I had'nt "seen" it before.

Its like that stuff they call "Star Wars" Graphically the second trilogy is better then the first. YET the story (to me is for crap as with the acting compared to the first) so I do not like it as much YET because of its pedigree I wanted/needed/had to see it.

We invest our emotions to a hobby of ours and follow it with passion. There are other sites to fight for basic human rights. This is a HL site.

I do agree with you. There are other MUCH bigger problems. You're not going to water down or divert the subject though.

I have some real world questions for you though. Where Americans whining when they voiced their opinions about 9/11. Where people whining about WW2. Where people whining when they were having the OJ trial of the century.

I think it does effect the overall release date because it pushes back the inevitable gold date. I feel that whatever day it is preloaded it goes gold, I am basing that on my own feelings/reasonings however.

It is because they wanted to get an early start on loading hl2 on people's pcs, they don't have to do that, they were being generious. It still won't affect the release date, cause thats within VU's control.

Let me remind you something. You do not know me. You do not know ANYONE (well maybe one or two) on this board, with regards to what they do and or have done with regards to ANYTHING.

Before you start insinuating this you may want to get your facts straight. The exception does not make the rule.

And Valve owes you a game when it's complete. When I said they don't owe us anything, I mean in terms of release dates, screenshots, videos, etc... Seriously, they have no contractual obligation to supply us with such things when we demand them. Same with information as to the product itself.

However, just because they have no obligation doesn't mean they have to ignore us, screw with our heads, and give vague answers. Sure, they can do that if they want, but I will still be annoyed nevertheless.

They have the right to handle their product any way they see fit. I have the right to feel annoyed.

My issue is not with the delay of the pre-load. My issue is with the handling of HL2 since day one. The vague answers, the fact that a multiplayer component has still not been confirmed or clearly defined, the delays of both the benchmark, the SDK, and HL2 itself, the constant pushing back of supposed release dates, and their "no comment" attitude on multiple issues even when the release date is supposedly quite soon. It doesn't help that people have been waiting so long for their pre-orders to actually materialize, and that HL2 has the potential to hold back another title (Bloodlines).

Oh ****ing hell, give me a break. If people are in an HL2 discussion forum, then they will discuss HL2. If they wanted to discuss the topics you mentioned, I'd expect them to go to the appropriate forum. I, for one, do give a shit about many other problems with the world, but I'm not going to rant about them here. So do us all a favor and stop assuming that HL2 is the only thing that matters in our lives. Your only acquaintance with us is on this forum, and this forum happens to revolve around Half-Life 2.

I have only 1 issue with this whole thing. Valve makes several dates on this pre-load and misses the mark everytime so far. Thats fine with me and stuff happens to prvent the pre-load form beginning, BUT, the communication with valve to customers is pretty bad. All they have to do is do a simple post saying "sorry not today, maybe tomorrow"..thats all they need to do, and to do it in the day when they KNOW they cant get it out that evening. No, instead we get everyone anticipating it coming last night and then at about 11:00 EST there is 1 forum post by cliffe who post news on steam and he says " update coming soon". So then everyone gets really excited and starts posting like crazy and then when the update comes through, its just a small list of bug fixes they did for counterstrike, no that pissed me off because all he had to do earlier in the day or right during his "comming soon" post is mention, "its not going to be the preload". Is that so tough to type that. This is what makes me mad, not the delay itself or missing the mark. Plus the only indication of HL2 preload even commng has been news on websites like hl2fallout and shacknews. Nothing on steam is posted about it, I find that very strange and it ticks me off.

Well like I said before. Why doesn't someone from VALVe say something. Evidence points towards them clamming up when something goes wrong. Just like Sept 30. They didn't say a thing.

I just feel like there is something wrong until proven otherwise. All valve has to do is make one post. People keep saying that this is out of the question.
