Download that utility and go to the 'Mainboard' tab and make sure that the AGP is working as it should be. A similar problem just happened with my friend whose motherboard keeps making his 9800 Pro use 2x AGP, and everything is extremely choppy for him.
Alright alright...you were really vague.
Well if you want something smarter:
Make sure your graphics card is working as specified: eg. operating at the proper clock speed, operating at an 8x AGP transfer speed, etc.
edit: Oh and moreover, you should make sure you have the proper drivers...
You have to enable the console first by typing "-console" in the launch options of hl2. You can get to the options by going Steam>Play Games> right click on Half-Life 2>Properties>Launch Options.
I have a 2d floor plan of a map I wish to create. Is there an easier/quicker way of laying out all the floorplans for this map using the picture I already have?
iamharper, i think i know what you are talking about. when you go to steam->play games with your account info, it no longer recognizes that you own hl2, and when you try to register your cd key as if you were doing so for the first time, it says that the key is already in use. is this correct?
HOLY SHIT, THANKS FOR ALL THE SUGGESTIONS GUYS. Sorry, im just excited having found out that Steam was set on 14.4k modem settings... Thanks once again for the help.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Well, I regularly check for spyware, so i don't think that's the problem. Also, I use Norton Antivirus, but I never have it running in the background, or in the system tray. My brother is using the internet some of the time, but I turned off his computer...

I used to play Counter-Strike Source and HL2 Deathmatch often, usually on local servers with a ping of about 30-70. At that point, nothing seemed terribly laggy. After not playing the game for a few weeks, I decided to play. However, whenever i join a game, even if i have the lowest ping in the...

Is there any particular size or ratio the big box should be in? Also, when I try to apply a skybox texture to one of the walls of my cube, it looks kinda distorted, like all the color is in a stripe in the middle, and the rest is a light blue. What am I doing wrong here?
Do I need to create really big vertical and horizontal sides to the map, surrounding the map I have already made, and then apply the texture to the uppermost portion?
I am extremely new to the mapping scene (like as of 2 hours ago), and I was wondering if anyone could point me to a tutorial, or explain to me how to add a sky to a map. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It is ok...at parts the game got really laggy, but then again, this is a beta version. It will be much cooler when there are good maps.
btw, this is worth downloading for the comical menu screen alone.
I don't know if this is old news, but apparently Half-Life 2 took the gamer's choice award on the show G4TV, with an overwhelming 70% of votes in its favor, a full 60 points ahead of the nearest competitor Doom 3. I can't find anything on their website http://www.g4techtv.com/, so I am assuming...
