i'd stick with the defaults star, maybe try lowering rate cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate (like in good old hl). there are graphical tweaks out there that may help, have a google or search your database :) or move to scotland and get adsl, you know it makes sense :D

Could be a fun idea that. Your in a bar, you've got to run around finding shots of jack daniels, your vision blurs and your controls go wobbly after each shot, person to drink the most without falling over wins :D

www.thewavelength.net - Go through some of the basic tutorials, like replacing weapons etc. Brush up on your pointers, you'll need that knowledge :) Practice making small mods, like one that adds a new gamemode or weapon, give it to a couple of mates, get them to try it with you. Good luck :)
