Didn't spawn them (although i couldv'e). It was just a...let's say... side effect of the start-end thing. I just spawned all of those soldiers with crowbars.

I say turn-off EAX. If it's not turned-on in the first place, try turning-off hardware accelerating of sound through the Directx console (Go to Start=>Run=>dxdiag=>OK) Edit: Though i'm not sure it'll work since you said it's texture-related.

In follow freeman, if you talk to one of your female squad-followers, one of her lines is "I can't get this tune outta my head... (>>whistles<<)". What is that tune she's whistling? Am I missing some kind of an inside-joke here? maybe it's from the soundtrack of HL1?
