Wow, Crytek must be really loaded to make a succesor to an already good engine. I mean, which developer these days has money to make two consecutive engines in the same time frame.
It's definately a good looking RPG, but I expected source engine visuals to be uniform everywhere.
The game runs like a slouch on my system even at 800 x 600 with 2 x AA (equipped with a gig of ram and 9800 pro), as compared to it's drastically awesome looking source cousin HL2, that I'm...
I found bloodlines extremely buggy and boring. I don't know, maybe I was expecting a near flawless RPG (i had higher expectations for this than for HL2).
That's very true DSDchemE.
Valve wanted to make realistic acting enemies. The metrocops just animate like those 70s badass cops. But I'd at least like them to do some better cover tactics, instad of moving left and right, in full exposure.
The reviewers never said the A.I. was "bad". They merely said it was "dissapointing" compared to HL, which's A.I was groundbreaking.
The initial metrocops were really, really bad A.I. I had a very bad first impression, although the soldiers and the elites were pretty good. I guess, most...
Opposing force, blue shift were developed by Gearbox software
Guman is a mod, not developed by valve.
Valve has only developed two games so far, HL and HL2.
"Yes, Half-Life 2 is not the perfect game. No game is, especially one that tries to take on the ambitious task of simulating elements of the real world, but once you take Half-Life 2 in the context of what it is and what it excels in, as opposed to what you thought it might be or could be, then...
I had zero stutter, zero bugs and zero problems throughout the game. I think the engine was excellently optimized.
Dunno why the rest had so much, but I even had a comfortable time unlocking it (without any problems).
Why exactly do you say so?
He's just an engine maker, the man is a genius. He is not behind the development of games, neither is he part of the creative crew, so why should he be blamed?
He is not talking about that gravity gun mod for Doom 3.
They are making a totally new weapon called "grabber" for the Doom 3 expansion pack.
I'm not against it, as I think that weapon was an awesome idea, however, id should at least release the expansion pack well after HL2 is forgotten...
Since people will accuse this site as "being biased" - I think for hl2.net to do the official review, we should have multiple people review it.
Firstly, the site admins. :)
Then we need am verdict from a big HL2 fan.
Then we need a verdict from a person who is fan of the genre in...
You people should play the game slowly, savour it, or even have finsihed it - play it some time later.
That's the problem with gamers nowadays, it takes years to make a game - and people finish it within a day or two and sit down looking blankly.
Happened with MGS3, hl2, ninja gaiden...
I won't say Halo 2's combat shits all over hl2, frankly it has lost that "wow" effect which halo 1 had. Similarly, HL2 definately has HL style combat, and the "wow" is even furhur less here.
That doesn't mean it's bad, it's still pretty great, but not the same as when they were an original...
Hey, you never know they make put in some more physics objects, even larger this time around.
But yeah, if this rumour is true, id software really is losing it's creativity...
Oh come on, you know HL2's ranking will fall when all reviews are posted. So far, Halo 2 has more reviews posted on it than HL2 has.
Although I'm surprised how amazed the critics were, HL2 has so many 10/10s...almost at par with the halo 2 ones. Let's see if this continous or not.
