BTW in the first link you posted, if you took out trigonometry - which looks bugged to me - Java would only be slightly slower than C++ which is highly incourageing as it opens up many new doors that would otherwise be closed if Java was a "slow" language. As it is, it's fairly fast in relation...
Well I read the first link you posted and it said Java's perf wasn't too bad either.
"Get the idea?" Yup years ago, didn't even need you to explain it. Infact that was rather patroniseing.

Very informing, speed is becomeing less of a problem for Java. Infact it hasn't been a problem for years  Unless your makeing something massively complicated.
Here's my faveriot bit:
Now I'm going to sit back and wait...
Because it's the weekend.

If Gabe appeared as online before the post then the chances that somone hacked strait into our database and simply added it become less likely.
Damn right, it's not possible for a news poster or moderator to check peoples IP's, so untill one of the Admins came online e.g MrBond, the posts authenticity could not be verified with the exception of e-mailing Valve.
As all of Gabe's previous posts had been real so there was no reason for...
You might want to try turning fastwrites off in the smartgart tab.
I finnished Doom 3 yesterday, the last levels are most definately the best. The Doom engine is better at rendering more natural or ornate scenes in my opinion.
The C&C series was always meant to be a trilogy.
Tiberium Dawn -> Tiberium Sun -> Tiberium Twilight
I don't think they would drop such a big money earner.
I'd just like to randomly say that ironically the most visually impressive parts of doom 3 are either the outdoor bits, semi outdoor or the huge indoor setpeices.
If your going to play the mods and 3rd party maps then it's probably worth it or if your just bored.
The graphics arn't that fantastic IMO, if you get close up to a wall then the blurry textures really are bad (HL2's normal/bump mapping looks much better). However the lighting is fantastic...
Valve havn't recieved any money from pre-orders, infact the chances are you havn't even given any money to the shop you pre-ordered it off. Shops normally charge you when they post the order, I'm sure I don't have to explain why.
Whether or not Valve owe dedicated fans anything is subjective...
Members from Valve do post here and they don't answer questions that most people already know the answer too like:
Q: Why hasn't the preload started?
A: Either it or the server isn't ready.
Q: Why did you tell us it would start, when it didn't?
A: We thought it would be ready.
Q: Why...
There's a real picture of the HL2 menu somwhere, I think it had the citedel in the background. However a visitor to the Valve offices said that the HL2 menu is/was animated in 3D.
