I agree completely
Also, last time I checked, emoticons were supposed to represent real life expressions, and no living person can contort their face in that unrealistic and hideous way.
What happened to the "wood will act like wood" thing? It wouldn't be that hard to have trees break like they have crates and boards braking. And I dont see how it would be too much more taxing than breaking a crate, either.
I was looking at some really old pics on gamespot and I found this

That window looks amazing, it looks like something out of the Unreal 3 tech demo.
In all the recent pics the windows are a flat...
A lot of people got pissed when CZ auto preloaded. You had to ask for Codename Gordon instead of an auto download, so I dont think theyre going to force preloads on people, especially for something as large as HL2. Some people might not have enough disk space.
Valve has been doing the same thing with the HL1 engine, they added detail textures and stuff for HL1. But they made source specifically dynamic for steam so they could update whatever they want.
You could learn the basics of the hammer editor since they're using it again for HL2. Make some basic levels for HL1 etc, to get a start. Or learn a modelling program like 3DSMax or SoftimageXSI. just to get a head start.
The HL2 SDK won't be out until around when the game ships. Valve used...
I thought the combine were a collection of alien races and that's why their name was COMBINE. It's obvious that there are human members but that doesn't rule out anything else there.
In this? Yeah, he HAS all his fingers, but they don't look individually modeled. The picture from the 2004 movie is kinda up in the air still I think. We'll have to wait for new binks or screenshots. Or the release ;) This hand argument isn't really worth continuing until then.
I seriously doubt that. The Combine police in that screenshot is the 2004 model, the 2003 movies they had a different one.
(seen here)
In the movie, I'm seeing the same thumb-index-triple finger block thing, but it is rather hard to judge from a mov file. Hopefully another bink will clear...
Actually, my three pictures were of three different models. And I can certainly tell that his fingers are melded, because Valve's weird lighting they have on the hands holding a gun firing makes it a lot plainer than it would have been.
I just went and looked at some more pictures, and I think you're right.
In 2003, the combine soldiers had all of their fingers, and they looked nice.

In that pic it's the same zombie model from 2003, with a new headcrab model. They changed the zombie model for the E3 2004 presentation, though. Most of the things in the movie looked better than the screenshots released before E3, but we didn't see this particular scene.
