well, there are two games out that take place under water with sci-fi subs. Aquanox and aquanox 2, the 2nd one just came out recently. If you like the idea of underwater sub combat you should play aquanox first before thinking about a mod.

people have been talking about how micropayments will be the next big thing. I definetly would pay 5 bucks to download the full version of a mod, and with their distribution system they can afford to sell mods for 5 bucks each. When you buy a 50 dollar game, a TON of that goes to overhead.
