Imagine for a minute if Valve had decided not to do these 'episodic' releases. Say they had instead taken the storyline they had for Ep1, 2 & 3 and put it into one monothilic game and called it Half-Life 3.
At this point they would still only be 2/3 of the way through the developement cycle...
Naturally. However, since I've got all the latest XP/DirectX/driver updates and it is such a well-known problem, it's far more likely to be a problem with their software.

I have a DirectX 9.0c card (SM3) but I get the looping sound crash within a few minutes, if I try to play above 8.1 in either TF2 or Ep1. :angry:

I really hope they fix the awful 'looping-sound-crash bug' in TF2 and Episode One, next. I have a perfectly capable DirectX 9.0c card and I am fed up of having to play with "-dxlevel 81" in order to avoid crashing. :x
As a TFC vet, I was looking forward to playing this mod. Having seen that video though, I can see well why Valve have chosen ro avoid b/hopping and concs in TF2. The level of air acceleration demostrated here is frankly retarded and I'll be staying well clear, if this is how it is going to end...
On the contrary, while there were some great mods for HL1, I think Source is capable of so much more! If there is one thig that this official (albeit limited) DM mod shows, it is that mod teams can look beyond the tradtionally accepted limits of FPS mods of yesterday. The only limiting factor...
