Still no joy... I tried connecting my other 2 PCs seperately. The laptop failed in the same way that my Athlon 1900+ had. My older PC (with Win 98) didn't even detect the HL installed content once - it went straight for online content without any attempt at conversion!

If you are having difficulty finding your id#, look in your Steam directory. There should be a file named Steam.log
At the end of many of the lines beginning CsComm will be a number:
X:X:XXXX
This is apparently your Steam Id.
Mine is 6479:
CsComm ConnectionPool...

Games in the UK are always released on a Friday, (in the same way that DVDs/CDs are always released on a Monday.)
Checking the calendar, the first friday after September 30th will be October 3rd. I'd guess that they (or you) have simply got the wrong month.
