AvP3

When I watched the predator video I was already massively disappointed.

Just saw this, so does this mean when im stuck in the middle firefight or I have inadvertently decloaked myself I have to search the ledges/trees whatever until a red hexagon appears for me to be able to jump? thats a tad shite.

I'll lose all faith in the gaming industry if this game sucks. :(

This game is going to be amazing. LE for PC is sooo tempting!

We'll see though when it gets closer and there's more videos and such, and especially more multiplayer videos and impressions.

This game will be brilliant. I am so getting that one with the Facehugger.

If this game actually delivers and doesn't turn out garbage I'll pull out the wall lining of my asshole.

alien is a lot faster than in AvP2

OMG That was awesome!!

ok that's now a day one for me :D

EDIT: considering i've never played avp before I want to try out the previous ones will avp2 go to steam?

meh i don't I would have alota fun playing the first AvP I do also hope they release AvP2....

Doesn't show anything in terms of gameplay really :|

Anyways, I'd wait, I guarantee you there will be a super deal pack with all three AVP games.

killmoves just slow down the gameplay imo

Jesus, the predator spine-rip is a little too much even for me. I don't want my game to play like an endless string of Mortal Kombat fatalities.

Yeah, hopefully this series of clips isn't meant to be indicative of what to expect throughout the entire game.

edit - regardless, that single player footage is sweet indeed.

have played only the avp2

is the first avp worth it or is just like the 2 whit older graphics?

I liked the first one better for some reason, like maybe the story-telling and "atmosphere" was better, but yes, people would probably agree with you.

I'm sold - have only played AVP2 myself, and if the first is anything remotely like it, I'm down.

Plus there are challenges -- really friggin' tough ones! -- where if you beat them you get awesome cheats (reminiscent of Goldeneye). Oh hey, there's that Steam deal right now huh!

Steam says Alien vs Predator Classic 2000 is $4.99, released 1/15/2010. Includes an expansion I didn't even know existed D:

The expansion was only bundled with AVPGold, it wasn't available seperately for previous AVP owners afaik.

I thought you meant a deal as in, a pack with all three titles :p

The plasma caster in the first one shoots fast. It shoots way slower in AVP2, but maybe tracks better? Also I take it that your power recharges automatically but slowly (as opposed to recharging with an energy sifter) in the first one?

Yep, the energy charges on it's own or by picking up the charge power up scattered through levels. The Plasma caster was canon in the first AvP game in the way that once fired it continued in a straight line and was avoidable. The sequel for some reason made it heat seeking which in turn made it completely unbalanced in the multi.

One more reason why the original is better.

The multi was pretty unbalanced, which was a shame - sooooo fun. Predators, even with plasma casters, never gave me much static (easy to dodge as an alien) Marines, with 1-hit-anywhere-on-the-body kill sniper rifles were the problem for me.

the cow says moo - I would fully recommend AVP2 (and after playing AVP1 in a few moments, may recommend that as well). Fun action, creepy environments, interesting, threaded storylines, etc.

I can fully recommend either game, AvP Classic is an absolutely blinding action game and very faithful to the movies, while AvP2 has a great story with some nice level design.

I think the original is better due to the vastly superior AI of the Aliens and the dynamic lighting in the game.

For anyone who hasn't seen the original AvP in motion I made a video:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z931wMBS28

Oh dear, the acting in the video that you see in the monitor. I think they got some more special effects going on in them in the AVP Gold edition. You could for example see a headcrab jump someone's face in one of them. But the acting was horrible compared to the original AVP equivalents. It doesn't even make sense why they changed all of them. You would have people talking in their most monotone voice "Is someone there? We have lost connection to blah blah blah. Help."

There is a pack floating around that you can use to change the videos back to the pre-gold edition. I tried it thinking I remembered them to be so much better, but I soon changed them back to the gold edition ones. The -pre gold ones are even worse.

I'll consider buying the original two.

I like how they're using the Juggernaut and infected game modes in the third one. Seems like the perfect game for those modes, IMO.

I can't seem to finish any of the AVP1 campaigns without cheating..:(

On Normal difficulty anyway.. Does that make me a bad gamer?

Nah I'm finding it hard just cause the levels are so big and there is no indication where to go.

Right now I'm sticking to skirmish :p
