Do you build a base then? Or just have units to control?
both, but there are only a handful of buildings, it's more about units

I played the demo for a few hours, great tutorials although I find Skirmish hard. It's difficult to manage so many fronts and the enemy artillery destroying your defences at such a range makes it tricky as well.
It's a pretty mediocre game after you play it for a few weeks
wtf...how could you not have?CoH just showed up on our shelves at work, but I've never heard of it so it must not be that good.
I'll have to check it out, RTS isn't really my thing, apart from Homeworld and AoE, but I do love ww2-games of all kinds.
Agreed on all points. Although that's kind of the point of artillery, unless you're hitting a fixed position. You do it so they'll get the **** out and you can get the **** in Airborne bombing runs are what you want for fast, hard-hitting artillery (although not quite as powerful I don't think). Also, the vehicle pathfinding is shit, but I rarely have more than 2 vehicles hitting a single spot at once. Otherwise they become hard to manage and are more prone to getting themselves killed...The artillery strike is slightly useless, as by the time the rounds hit, the enemy has moved out of the srike zone as the AI recognises the smoke and basically gets the **** out of there.
The vehicles are a bit retarded too, especially in groups of 4+. You cant really make a convoy as they get stuck on each other. But meh.
Online is a shambles at the moment. Can never connect.
Playing LAN with a mate from halls living next door is a great time though.
Easily one of THE best RTS games of all time.
Wouldn't be too proud there... I've found allies have a bit of an advantage on that map. As long as you hold the west victory point and the one closer to your base, even if he has the last one you can quite easily maintain control of both high fuel points, denying him the resources he needs for heavy armor (unless it's tigers later on, but being a low resorce map that takes a while). Also, this map is a Calliope's playground, seriously. Pretty much everything is always in range of their rockets, they can cross the map in seconds to be anywhere they're needed, and it's wide open so they'll always have an easy time of flanking axis armor.Just absolutely dominated some poor soul in 1v1. I was allies on Angoville.

Exactly what I thought after playing the demo, but play it some more and give yourself a chance to get used to everything (also, leave the CPU on easy ). The difficulty of managing several fronts and keeping your defenses intact is a constant problem, and the game is always keeping you on your toes, but this is the beauty of it. You can't just shove as many units as you like onto a certain point and be confident that anything that comes within range is gonna get blasted, you have to distribute and place them smartly and be ready to change at a moment's notice if the enemy finds a weakness in your defense. Similarly, finding chinks in your opponents armor and exploiting them with the right units and tactics can be key to pushing them back and achieving victory. It's an incredibly fluid system and it demands that you're always active, always thinking.Grrr, I just can't takle tanks, they can get anywhere, I always build infantry but never have enough resources for tanks.
I spent 2 hours fighting the Normal CPU in the demo. I gave up, I was slowly losing territorys. It's a very hard game, I can see alot of gameplay with it.
I'm not buying the game until I beat this damn Skirmish on the demo, theres just so much to play with on just one map.
I rushed to get points and defended some rather well but they got behind me and cocked me up a good few times, I like to use infantry although those Quad 50s are pretty awesome to. It's amazing how sandbags and tank blockades turn the game. I never see the CPU build them though(?).
750kb replay file?
I'm playing the demo on conquest, what's the objective of the other mode? What's online play like?
