Ethics and Artificial Intelligence

Sounds interesting, I would like such a theory :)

As a development: It just occurred to me that everything must be pre-determinable, otherwise there would be no way for the universe to determine it! (and hence move us all constantly forward in time)

Another logical support for determinism.
That's a funny way of wording it, but I can see where you're coming from. Time progresses in a linear fashion - as far as we can tell (there are theories that go against this, but there are theories that go against everything :) ) everything happens only once, therefore whatever happens is the only thing that can happen. The element of "possibility" is impossible to even prove the existance of. It does seem pretty clear to me that the universe operates in a deterministic manner (for reasons I'm sure you've thought about, having come to that conclusion). I guess, then, despite smaller, more specific disagreeances, we fundamentally agree....
aww, where't the fun in an argument if everyoine just agrees?
:cheese:

Edit: What's your take on determinism, Mountain Man?

Well, I'm clocking off (I'll post ideas in future here if I have some)

In the mean time, here's something I just found in some backup folders that's kind of relevant. It's a text file I wrote a long, long time ago, when I first started thinking about determinism related things. I've refined my thoughts a lot since then, but it shows my initial thinking that led to some of the ideas I now have. Interesting (for me, anyway)

Edit: reading through this file... I've refined my ideas since then A LOT. :) It's actually kinda funny to see how I thought then..

Interesting read.

Edit: i changed my sig lol

That reminds me of one of the Saturday Night Live presidential debates between Bush and Gore.
Bush kept saying a bunch of obviously coached statements and after each one Gore would say some variant of "I agree."
