FIFA World Cup

He made the most of it, but he still got touched by the keeper. If you go down inside the box and don't get the ball then you have to take what's coming ...

absolutely retarded. this is why people make fun of soccer so much it's all drama. Dive here, over react there...and why the hell don't they allow for the ref to review replays like they do in hockey? It would A) eliminate diving all together and B) make the game fair.

If the ref saw the replay, he would've seen the player make a dive and also that the goalie was going for the ball that the player just grazed the goalies leg.

Red card was completely undeserved. ****ing pathetic.

He made contact with the player, it was a small amount and he threw himself to the floor theatrically but the fact remains there was contact. He didn't touch the ball either, so its a foul in the box and a penalty.

The red card is nothing to do with the severity of the the challenge in this case. It was what is deemed as a 'goal scoring opportunity' - as in the goalkeeper prevented a certain goal. That is a red card offence.

They refuse to use video replays as FIFA says it will slow the game down too much (which it wouldn't). Even if the video replay was available to the ref for this incident he would have stuck by his decision.

Aside from that SA offered nothing coming forward, Uruguay organised themselves well with Diego Forlan dropping off...playmaking and no one stopped him for the entire game.

oh PLEASE, don't give me that. The whole point of the foul was strictly because Suarez DOVE ON PURPOSE. Watch this video. Fast forward to 1:07 and you'll see what I mean.

Goal keeper skimmed Suarez's foot, definitely not significant enough to cause a fall. Suarez KNEW that but in order to insure a penalty, fell on purpose. Had the ref been allowed to look at the footage clearly seeing the dive, Surez would've been carded and no penalty given.

So what if Africa wasn't offering anything? Does that warrant players to play cheap?

yes I noticed tons of player exagerate,or as you call it,go foul or whatever

also funny how in extra times the winning team start changing players to end it quicker lol

that should be banned imo

Wow I thought those horns were just part of a track I was listening to.

"Just a home button at the bottom of the screen? Lame."

It does look like a dive and Suarez is known to be "theatrical". The decision was harsh but that doesn't excuse the SA goalkeeper for what was ultimately an awful tackle in the penalty area. Suarez would have definitely scored if no contact had been made. It doesn't matter how minor the contact looks, that could definitely put you off your stride. Suarez felt contact so he fell down. Any striker would do the same given that opportunity. It isn't a nice part of football but it always happens. South American (+ Italy) teams have grown particularly adept at being actors.

But like Glenn said SA didn't really ever look like scoring so I don't think it would have changed the outcome of the match.

Just watching the Argentina vs. South Korea game. Messi and Tevez were phenomenal in the first half, the former almost scoring an absolute beauty, South Korea have the heart but just not the ability to contain them, although they are right back in it by stealing a goal pretty much dead on half time. Great match, can't wait for the second half.

EDIT: Never mind, had whatshisname had more composure with the absolute sitter in the second half and equalized, the game would have been very different, why he shot with his leading foot I will never know. Still Argentina's 4th goal was amazing, but they still have some issues at the back.

Two words: Firing Squad.

hehehehehehehehehe...

but atleast you where beated by one of the best teams, its better than being beated by a bad team

is like if you where a amateur at tae kwon do and then you say "yeah this guy beated, some called consecutive world champion or something like that"

cuz hey look at spain

sure stern will bash you in the face how superior north korea is due to your team losing

I wouldn't be so sure, the competition is still in its infancy and they have yet to play a team on par with them, not to mention they look very shaky at the back.

South Korea is one of the better teams coming out of Asia, and to be honest I was expecting a much closer game. That being said, I do agree they are still a bit shaky. The mistake that closed the game to 2-1 will kill them if they were against the likes of Brazil, where the lineup is much much quicker

He has some serious skillz.

Did anyone else see his saves from Messi? Aha, that guy just cant score internationally.

Out of curiosity, Are y'all making any bets?

Considered it at one point but pussied out from my lack of money.

Mexico basically do every right and then just scuff it over the bar or something. France's manager really needs a lesson in football, or common sense. He needs a goal so takes off Anelka and leaves Henry on the bench, when it should be both of them up front, with Malouda on the left and Ribery on the right. What an idiot.

EDIT: GETIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNMEXICOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!111111

It's the centre of the mass of the body (apart from the arms) that counts. In this case, the centre of the attacker was ahead of the defender, thus it was offside.

Not that it bothers me much, Mexico deserved that victory.

"In the definition of offside position, “nearer to his opponents’ goal line” means that any part of his head, body or feet is nearer to his opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent. The arms are not included in this definition."

There's no way this lineman's seeing this at full speed. If he's human he should really be flagging for offside. I'm glad they scored though.

EDIT: Did you see that Serbian guy celebrating? He jumped the ad boards then vaulted another thing - thinking it was the same height - but it was a 7ft drop :p

Germany just smacked the crossbar. Decent game.

Also, lol @ the goal celebration like Stardog mentioned.

stupid germany, hitler would not have been happy

Oh aye, the linesman probably just saw the defender running in and the attacker running out and assumed they were level when the ball was played.

Suprised the serbian wasn't booked, maybe it's just english footy you get booked for celebrating too much...

Can anyone explain to me exactly why the third American goal was ruled out?

England - Algeria was the worst game of the tournament. England played extremely bad, it's shocking. At this point I don't know what Rooney is doing on the field, he contributed nothing.
