Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Just completed the game and although it was good I have to say it wasn't the best game the GTA series has ever seen.

For one thing it was way too big and getting from A to B could often take too long with silly things happening along the way meaning you had to do it again.

Second the bugs. Man whoever tested this game for PC needs a slap.. Just playing through on my own I found loads of bugs:

1. The sound would cut out after one or two missions unless I turned the acceleration of the sound down.

2. Completed assets that were supposed to accumulate money (i.e. the Airstrip's $100,000) aren't doing it as they should. For example I finished the airstrip asset, left it for about 30 days in game time, came back, and it was only at about $300

3. If someone tries to take over some territory you own, just save the game and it'll stop em..

The soundtrack was nowhere near as good as Vice City either, but that's because I'm not a big hip-hop fan..

I'm sure I could rant about little niggles I had about the game for ages, but I aint gonna..

After playing all the way through I'd probably give the game an 8.2/10

The thing is, some people didn't have any bugs. My experience was flawless. I loved the size, and how you could save to stop the gang wars (I hated them just randomly starting). And now that I'm done the main game, I appreciate the scope even more, so much to do. I can see myself playing it even after I get 100%. Hated the soundtrack though

I didn't have any bugs at all. In fact I think it's one of the most stable, least problematic games I've played recently. Of course this is just for me. I wouldn't call the territory-attack-save-game thing a bug, more an eccentricity...

I liked it more than Half-Life 2. Yeah, sorry. Decent challenges, extensive replayability, effective humour, variation... the graphics, though technically worse, are far more satisfying, but that is more down to the style of the game world...

Guess some people experiences are better than others. For me, the game is riddled with bugs and I pretty much agree with what craig said. It's most likely hardware compatibily issues, one of the main problems with gaming on the PC.

On another note, I've just been trying to do all the Driving school tasks to get Gold on all of them. I've done all of them except one which is driving me nuts. I think I've almost done it 100 times and still can't get 100%. It's always a Damage Penalty because the car got a little scratch.

I'm just so annoyed with it ATM.

I can't do the clockwise and anti/counter-clockwise (whatever) flying lesson missions. Well, I can do them, but not with a good percentage. Everytime I turn the plane goes waaaay out of control.

Flying's a bitch, yeah. I generally end up doing it in first person mode because it's the only way i can actually SEE where I'm going... and that Freefall mission, UH! That damned plane, i kept missing it. They give you a slower plane and everything... and I hate how they still have those missions where they take all your weapons or force you to replace your favourite ones, i.e. removing my heat-seaker missiles with 40 rockets to stick in a normal one. God dang it!

Doesn't stop me playing for days on end though. And the best bit so far was having a firefight in a meat factory with Mafia goons and having Ken Rosenburg shout out 'Just like old times, eh, Tommy?' and CJ going 'Tommy? Who the ****'s Tommy?'

Actually, Ken is like the funniest character. Aside from Woozie's triad gang, who make sure that the boss IS blessed with 'incredibly good fortune'.

I know how that feels. On the mission where you fly in the helicopter towards the boat with the refugees on and you get hit with an rocket (reminded me of Black Hawk Down - ''RPG!'') and you lose all your weapons. I stocked up on weapons and armour JUST for that mission... only to lose them all.

Heh.. I hate the 'scripted' nature of that mission. I'm there killing EVERYONE with the chain gun and the dude fires off the RPG.. I swear I must have hit him 30 times with the gun and he doesnt die (for obvious reasons)... I mean if he's needed to stay alive they could have at least made him living plausable (like the chain gun running out of ammo or something) lol.

Can't remeber which girl but if you date her to full you get to keep all weapons after death, and drive her car...
Check a cheat page, or something for the facts.

Katie Zhan, nurse, turns up in san fierro; but only if wasted

If you want to keep all weapons after getting busted you need to date the cop - barbera thingymajig.

*mutter about having to do the casino heist mission all over again because the stupid mission before took my rocket launcher and left it with NOTHING, and about having to do 'A home in the hills' about a GAZILLION times because of the car you are FORCED to use having really shoddy steering, and also because twice when i drive-byed Big Poppa i hit his fuel tank and exploded his and mine cars before it triggered the cutscene*

I like the fuel tank thing though... so underated...

Ahhh, but the fuel tank is actually improbable and nigh impossible in real life.

Thank you MythBusters.

so you need to finish all the driving schools with a score of 100 in order to finish the game 100%????

and another question,
what am I supposed to do to keep my girlfriends entertained when they ask me to drive them around town? I can't figure out how to make the entertainment-meter go up.

Just drive.. They'll either say you drive too slow or drive too fast, adapt to what they say and try to keep that speed.

Hm, I'm looking for Patriots/Humvees right now... anybody know where I can find one?

Did anyone else get bored of playing this game real fast? I am just a few missions into San Fierro and I must say I don't get any urge to play this game anymore.

The missions suck balls. I would take quality over quantity any day. Hopefully future GTA's will be like that.

Nooo.......ope.

Reg, you can pick up the heat seeker on top of the car park building in the north of the suburbs/industrial area west of the western length of the Julius freeway in Las Venturas.

Or in San Fierro Airport.

I'm still obsessed and I'm up to that crappy 'grind' of taking over suberbs for the Los Santos Finale (and, therefore, game finale). I finally understand what whoever was complaining about sweet before was saying, though - he's a freaking pain in the ass, and CJ thinks so too.

It takes me by surprise everytime I'm shooting at a car and it suddenly explodes after one lucky shot.

I'm on the bastard barrel roll test for the flying lessons. Can't bloody do it. Tips?

Did it first try. :E

Try not to touch the up-down controls. Not sure what they are called in aviation.

But just turn and don't try to go up and down.

I was being cocky with the missions, I steamrolled ahead once I did the 'circle field and land' mission, 'cause after that it was all helicopter stuff. And then this barrel roll mission comes up.

I can do the roll itself, its when I come out of the roll, I can't make the last ring. The plane stupidly swerves downwards at the last second and does a stupid spin before hitting the ground.

However, I think I may of been still pressing the up-down controls when doing this... which could very well be a reason.

there are so many things to do in order to finish this game 100%... I am only 80% done and I am already so tired of this game I haven't played in the last 2 weeks or so... I remember completing the ambulance, taxi cab, firefighter, missions in Vice City, it was a royal pain in the ass. Now I'll have to do it all over again if I want to finish the game 100%. I hope this time I get more than just a lousy t-shirt.

I'm not even going to bother getting 100% - it's just going to be so tedious spraying all the tags, getting all the photo ops, grabbing the horseshoes... not to mention the vehical missions, the misc. crap, all that sorta junk.

Instead, I'm going to go base jumping. There's almost nothing more awesome than flying a plane high above a city then jumping out and floating back down to earth...

Same. I doubt I'll ever get 100% completion. After doing all the missions I just mess about blowing things up etc. I never finished the previous two. Got about half way through and never played them again.

I will never get 100% now. My friend just saved over my 80% with his 3%. Naturally I punched him really hard on the arm.

It doesn't matter too much, seeing as I had all the missions done and got all girlfriends to 100%.

I'll probably download a 100% file from the net and have fun on that when I want to.

FINALLY done the flying lessons. I've gotta scare that guy on the front of the car now. I failed the first 2 times because I hit a wall and then I went into some water. Gay.

Try going out into the desert. Less things to smoosh into then.

Ugh... I killed Tinpenny's(sp?) colleague... the mission is called High Noon... and then I got the card from that Las Venturas girl, to get into the Casino... but after that, nothing happens. I have no more missions to do. Any idea?

Same happened to me, go out to the Airpcraft graveyard, there's a mission there

I thought they were releasing a censored version...?

They are. They're taking the sex scenes out and re releasing as a M again. Apparently.

Just finished GTA SA ;D \o/ apart from the story mode how many proper missions can be done? I've just done Zero's ones but now nothings on the map

Story missions are all the missions, i think.

You gotta do all the other random stuff now, to get 100%. Me i crouch on the back of speeding cars and shoot stuff with the infinite ammo cheat :)
