Curious to hear others opinions because, to be honest, I'm leaning towards VCS on the PSP for its portability, property-mangement dynamic and the usefulness of the side-missions. Anybody else have unusual tastes (assuming my tastes are unusual)? Just thinking, if we could leave IV off the list for now that would be great, make all our lives simpler.

Don't be ridiculous Qonfused. GTA 3 was utter shit :p

San Andreas, because it just improved on everything the previous games did.

I found the hip-hop story of SA a bit too, eh. And it was a touch too large imo.

GTA: SA. Everything from the other games all rolled into one. Bikes, choppers, planes, trains... Loved it.

GTA 3 was the best. It had the best story, the best characters, the best soundtrack and the best surroundings. Then comes Vice City then SA.

San Andreas just because it was HUMONGOUS!

The greatest GTA game is quite obviously GTA :)

Doesn't anyone agree that there was a little too much unused space and a few too many stats in SA.

Yeah. Size =/= quality. I would rather have maybe one part out of the three in SA, but have it as detailed as possible.

Yeah. Unless you mean more detailed stats ofcoarse. "damn- need to take my clothes to the drycleaners to get these pee stains out"

I had definately the most fun with GTA2. Next is GTA3, first time to play it as FPS.

GTA3 just edges out Vice City for me....just!

GTA:VC
I liked it's story the most, liked it's character the most, liked the soundtrack the most. And liked it's driving characteristics.
I didn't like the driving characteristics in GTA3, the cars felt a lot heavier then in GTA:VC.

GTA:SA had to much space, and to little to do in it. Furthermore I hated the story and the characters. The gangster talk was overused, They couldn't say a sentence without using the word NiggaFoo at least 5 times. And it really came over like forced humor and wasn't fun to watch. Furthermore the main character was an idiot for not killing his brother

Just thinking about the last mission make me cringe. How you want to make something of yourself, get away, but then that fat piece of shit begins to talk you down, and how you have a responsibility. While he hasn't done jack shit the whole game except **** you over and will obviously remain on his ass while you have to do the dirty work. The whole ****ing game I wished this was just a bad joke and Tommy Vercetti would come over and chainsaw everyone of those mother****ers.

Vc for its style; the 80s setting and art direction were great, fernando martinez ftw! i played SA a bunch and really enjoyed but never finished it, i didnt like the story much and i felt it tried to do too much without polishing everything to a quality level...

I've tried the third, didn't like it, so never played the others.

Vice City, I loved the environment and music.

GTA 3 was my favorite. Vice City was close, and I didn't like the hip-hop vibe and length of San Andreas, which bored me and made me quit once I made it to the forest area. I would rank them like this:

GTA 3
Vice City
San Andreas

I pretty much like GTA3 and Vice City equally.
GTA3 was the first GTA game I've played, fun as hell.

I have a question, is the story in GTA4 going to take place in the present? Or is it going to be in another time period, like Vice city was set in the 80's

Overall GTA:SA for the positive reasons stated above, but Vice City had a better atmosphere and so did GTA 3 (although they were of course different).

Also, I didn't get the feeling that there's unused space in SA. Lots of space for driving around on a dirtbike ftw.

The first one, because 3 and up were just freaking retarded.

3 dimensions too complicated for ya? D:

You bet, there's a reason I stick to Mario! :D

I just thought the first one was so damned fun....and I can't play 3 and up for some reason, I don't find them fun :(

I did not like the first 2 at all.
I never could find my way, why wasn't there a minimap.

There was something great about the 2d versions that was in the move to 3D. The driving side of things for a start became less about the joy of tearing through a city, less of a game, and more of a way to get places. Not sure if that makes sense, but that's the way I found it. The original was a bit like Micro Machines, but in a massive city with cops and lots of guns. And you could play it over a lan - much time was lost playing GTA over my uni's network.

The only GTAs I ever enjoyed playing were the ones with the overhead view. I can't stand the 3D ones. Ahh, the days when games were actually fun and not a tech demo.

Techdemo? GTA's pretty much always looked aged technically.

Haha, I just remembered, back in the GTA 1 days I was talking about it with a mate and he said he found it boring. A few seconds later it turned out that he didn't know you could enter cars :D

I had definately the most fun with GTA2. Next is GTA3, first time to play it as FPS.

Errm, it was a third person shooter?

San Andreas was my favourite.
GTA2 = awesome
GTA3 = crap.
Vice City = crap
Liberty City Stories = Enjoyable, but can be crap at times.

I only started playing the GTA series with GTA3.

I really enjoyed GTA3. Loved the jumps. Hard to compare it to the others since this is the first one I played and it's hard to find faults if I didn't know it any other way.

GTA VC I played the most and probably my favorite. Love the setting (location, music etc), story and motorcycles. Some good jumps here too. I have the most fun with this one. Even just cruising. Although the map seemed a little small.

GTA SA is a lot of fun although I'm not liking the story or music as much as VC. Not finding many places for jumps in this game. But I love the map layout. A lot more road to run from the cops. Although it seems like there are less buildings to go in as VC. I mean, in VC I was always going in a high building or parking garage to either cause chaos from above or run from the cops and get another car in safe place. (I'm not counting the food, gym places etc in SA that have to load when entering) I guess they are just spread out. I'm not finished with SA actually. Still playing through it. I do like that the cops go after others if they run into the cops.

Grand Theft Auto
Great game, but damn difficult. The cops are damn tough and hard to shake. Cash and guns are a bit difficult to come by at times. Still, great game. Now, if only the tank could shoot outside of kill-frenzies.

Grand Theft Auto 3
Best story, best radio (Chatterbox FTMFW) and some damn satisfying gameplay.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Probably the most polished and all-round great GTA game. But I just never found it as satisfying as 3. Also, the FBI and army seem to be easier to avoid/kill in this game.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Has the best moments and features of the series. Great gunplay and the best vehicles of any GTA game (dogfights FTMFW). But the game just isn't as consistantly good. And the map is too damn big. Endless areas of nothing are just annoying.

As for the otheres, I haven't played them enough to judge.

Although VC is probably a better game, I'll vote 3 with 1 as second, because I've gotten the most fun out of those.

In SA you've got plenty of buildings to cause chaos from, once you land on them :D No painfully low skybox ftw (it was so annoying in Vice City)!
