I'm thinking more along the lines of a complete gameplay overhaul. Of course the location(s) will be new/different, but they're probably going to try and widen the gap between the generations. I doubt it'll be as big of a jump as GTA2 -> GTA3, but it'll probably be damn impressive.

I really do hope they don't make it an MMO though. That's about the only thing I could ever imagine them doing that would make me not buy it.

Actually, I think they should go back to a city. But, the city is completely alive, detailed, everything is enterable, there's limitless things you can do, etc.

GTA games suffer from lack of polish. Quantity > quality is the theme throughout the trilogy. That's an obvious starting point for R*.

I enjoyed all three of them. Vice City was by far the best, but there's no denying the obvious lack of polish in what is otherwise a truly fantastic series.
