What I find stupid about it is why cancel your account and "switch" to a game that has no monthly fees and not as much content. I'm probably gonna get it too, but I'm not throwing WoW away for it. Hell i didnt even through CoH away for WoW.

I'm only a fanboy when it comes to mgs, GW is simply that much better.

hey! I prefer to play WoW alone ...I have friends ...lots of them ...they just keep running in the opposite direction whenever I arrive in town

so... it's not even really a typical rpg.. it's like an action but not really rpg

...heh but turn based.. i'm starting to get more and more skeptical of this every day. I dont see the point in putting time into this if its just a gimped turn based version of a hack and slash.

Well no, not really, I was in a guild in the wow beta, I still enjoyed GW more.

I dont really like WoW's gameplay that much, i just like talking to friends and palying with them. Actually i dont know why i still play WoW, as its pretty much just the same thing through to lvl 60 and then you've got nothing

So, some guilds try to invite everyone they see. Try being in a guild where people actually help eachother out, socialise etc. You we're just in a crappy guild.

How the **** would you come to that conclusion. the reason I played the game for for the full beta and didn't quit after the first 2 days was becasue of my guild, thats pretty much the only fun I had, they were wonderfull in helping me out. Actually all the people in the euro beta were wonderfull, especially compared to the US, atleats if what I read on the message boards is true. I mean I once asked for some herbs, and a dude went half way around the plant to get them, and I had even said that he didn't need to, causet hat is rediculus, goiung around for soemone else, but I did the same for him in teh end and everybody was nice. And everybody was helping each other.
But see in GW you have great people+ uber great gameplay, which translates in uber mega leet experience.

That's why I quit, spent countless hours in instances, sleepless nights just to finish my class set, and for what? just for a few more stats... I realized how pathetic it is and quit. Sold my account for 200$ and I don't regret it at all.

you sold your account for $200? man what fool would pay for that? ...no offense ..shrewd on your part

If you weren't having fun while doing all that, then yes, it was a pathetic waste of time. If you had a great time playing with friends, then it wasn't.

I swear to god Grey Fox is an NCsoft rep, he's acting like it's the second coming of christ FFS "it's got great people, plus uber leet" oh please.. lmao every game has it's fair share of shit heads. If your expectations are THIS high for Guild Wars then the game can only be less than what you anticipated. As much as you would like Guild Wars to be the most amazing things since Carmen Electras body its just a PC game.

Dont get me totally wrong however, I also eagerly anticipate the game... I just cant say i'm pissing all over my pants whenever I hear the word Guild or Wars spoken.

Some people forget just this when playing RPGs, online rpgs in particular.. the point is the have fun damnit, it's a game.. you achieve goals to have more fun.. setting goals within the game world are fun, if you actually find the PROCESS as well as the fruits of your labor rewarding. I think alot of players forget that RPGs are what you make them out to be.. not what everyone else does. Your goals and feats within the game world are what should bring you satisfaction not some kind of e-glory. When I flip on WoW I consider it a time to relax, socialize and kick ass, not another few hours of work just for the hell of it.

I played the Guild Wars beta, it was OK but it didn't hook be like the WoW beta did.

You should never have to realize "oh shit this isin't fun".. do something to make it fun or stop playing ffs :| to continue playing a game that isin't fun to you is just rediculous :p

Yeah but then half of the people here are WoW reps by that logic, the amount of WoW fanism here is far greatere than mine GW.
+ just look up a thread about mgs, then you'll see ho bad I can get.

Actually I met many people ingame who bought accounts and gold from "dealers", there was this one guy in our guild: he had a L60 paladin with the full lightforge set and he got bored, bought a L60 warrior and about 3000g (never told us how much he payed for it). He went on a shopping spree, bought a Krol blade, stockade pauldrons, an epic mount, cloudkeeper leggings, and a bunch of other epics. What kind of a guy would pay for that? well he's single, has a job, and disposable income lol...

A lot of people do it, it's becoming the norm, hell even Sony Online Entertainment is trying to make it official.

wow, I thought blizzard didnt like that sort of stuff

They don't, and they are trying to stop it. SOE are just whores, they are trying to make power leveling apart of their game, and now they are trying to put that kind of crap in their game.

well that settles it ...wont be buying any mmorgs from SOE ...what's the use in level treading when someone can guy buy a bunch of stats?

I'm going to be giving up on WoW as soon as I get cable. I don't have the money required to pay monthly(I don't have a job) and the autoupdater is a pain in the ass to use. I haven't been able to update the game which in turn means I can't play. So yeah, i'm picking up Guild Wars.

post impressions upon buying this guys, I wont buy it right away.. I Just dont trust it.

What completely kills GW for me that it's a dead world, just a bunch of instances with a central meeting ground. When I played some beta of it, I didn't realize it was an online game until I read about it later when I uninstalled it. Thought it merely had some fancy streaming technology. I don't see it as any different from a glorified Diablo 2. But then, they don't claim to be a MMORPG either, which I am definitely looking for when I spend a lot of time building a character, I want that character to be in a real world.

WoW is really a world, there's people everywhere, you can team up with them when you like, you can recruit people to kick the ass of some Horde that ganked you earlier, you can raid towns with huge groups. In GW, you teleport, in WoW, you really travel, you take the boat to a place, and especially pre lvl 40 travelling and exploring is a blast. Instances in WoW are fun too, but I wouldn't wanna spend the entire game in such an instance.

That the quests are all "collect this, kill x this" is bullshit too. Sure, you played the beta, you could get to what, level 25 max? My quest log is full and only have a few gathering quests, and those are actually fun to do, not like the ones at the earlier levels. Chain quests with an actual story that you can follow are there too.

WoW isn't an MMORPG that's different from any other, it's just flawlessly executed. There's many tiny features that they've thought of, that really help the game, like the rested xp bonusses. I never ran into any frustration that I've had with the game.

So you think that a game is good if it is only boring till lvl 25, what the hell is whrong with you. That is hours of play. The game is made unnececairly boring by blizzard. Cause a lot of times you'lle just searching for where you have to go, and a lot of the quest are the same.

And in GW it's far easier to make a group, infact it is a necessity, hell many people on the wow message boards call wow a massive singleplayer online rpg, you'll be doing a lot more solo in wow than in gw. + Gw has one masive server, and an exremly good and addicting pvp, so all in all you'll have more ocntact with people in gw than in WoW. What warbie said is true, but that doesn't make wow a good game, and what a lot of peopel say about wow is just bullshit, you cab't just play a hour and have fun you simply can't, it's still for the harcorep player or the one with a lot time, I mena you'll spend 45 min searching for where you have to go+ another for the quest.

WoW has the most boring quest that I have ever ever, it's one where you have to collect something from those tigers, and only one in 10 leaves it, and you need likle six, I mean thats just bs. Gw maybe linear but the missions are atleats very fun, you also get tp use the envoirment and you have a good story. Simply put wow is just addictive, it's not that fun, infact I'll bet that 1/3 of the peopel who are playing it are just doing it for their guild and to get better stats, they are not actually having fun. If I want friends I'll go out, if I want to play a good rpg, I'll play KOTOR or GW, they atleat have variety, and all the bs is stripped from them.

Fact is, wow would be a lot more fun if the leveling was easier, cause now a lot of peopel will quit before they have played with all the classes, and that is ashame. Making it easier to lvl would have made it more fun + would have probably earned them more money cause more people would be willing to play longer to expirence all the classes.

At first I thought Guild Wars would be better for its PvP... but no... iit's not better (than World of Warcraft). The mission-like instances were okay... nothing great, though, as the biggest thing you got from doing them was... finishing them... hardly any loot, minimal character progression. Even finding a damn gruop to do them was extremely difficult... I sat around in those dumbass meeting areas trying to find people that weren't AFK, waiting on someone else, or just plain stupid waaaaay too long.

Ah, but the PvP! The arena was fun to muck around in, but the guild vs. guild battles were where it was at! So yeah, that was fun and all... especially the time when I held off an entire guild by myself and just the base guards... yeah, it was also kinda messed up. What Guild Wars fails to match against World of Warcraft is the feeling of freedom... you can't even JUMP. Oh, and another is that you can only use, what, 8 skills at any given time? That, versus the TONS more you have a choice of using in WoW at any given time PLUS any special abilites granted by your equipment. WoW allows even further character customization through talent trees (besides equipment, which even GW is strangely lacking). With the already-implemented honor system and upcoming battlegrounds in World of Warcraft, I don't see any reason to play Guild Wars.

So...the arena. It is all against all ?, like DM ?

Or it is instanced with a party ?

The fact is, Guild Wars isnt a subscription game so its obviously not going to be as deep. Its just a bit of entertainment like any other regular game.

grey fox... you gotta lay off the fanboy stuff...
Personally, Im going to be buying WoW so I can play with my best friend who will be in California this summer.

I think WoW has just so much more substance than GW. Tons of quests, RAIDs, good pvp (or so I hear)

I did play the beta, and I found it boring. However, keep in mind that I didn't have a party at the time.

Im not going to get to hang out with my friend this summer, so I might as well do it through WoW

Don't start calling people fanboys simply because they're not agreeing with you. That is what you're doing. Calling them a fanboy serves no purpose what-so-ever other than as a cheap attempt to annoy and discredit the other person.

Farrowlesparrow, that was actually my first post in this topic, so he hasnt disagreed to anything I've said.

Im just seeing Grey Fox as being abnormally difficult in this discussion, like he has a personal vendetta against World of Warcraft.

Maybe I was a little too hasty to say fanboy, but I do think he's being unreasonable

It's called exaggeration.

And I don't recall "WoW has stupid people and you ahve to do the same quest over and over" good reasons.

And no one in this thread lashed out a GW like grey fox had a WoW, infact he started this whole WoW vs. GW thing

First I gave more reasons than that, in any case more and better then you did.
second, I didn't start the WoW vs GW thing.

Well number one, i wasn't really argueing anything against GWs, so i didnt have to give reasons for anything

and number 2

yes but if you read his posts afterwards he does explain himself. Anyways, we should stay on the topic at hand, if it even has any potential of going anywhere

Also, on the WoW forums there seem to be a alot of GW fanboys that make constant threads like "OMFG!!, 1 1S CANCLIN MEH ACCOUNT N GONNA GO 2 GW!", which to me seems kinda stupid

So, some guilds try to invite everyone they see. Try being in a guild where people actually help eachother out, socialise etc. You we're just in a crappy guild.
Not only were you bashing GW, but you were also bashing me, and did not give any good arguments.

No, no I'm not. everybody knwos that for WoW you need a lot more patients, and that GW is al ot more actionpacked, so yeah it would be wierd if you find GW boring and WoW not. But thre was not bashing in that post at all, from that post you really can't make out if I like wow or not. I could have been a big ****ing fan of wow for all you knew, that just wonderd why someone would like my favorite game and yet think gw is boring. The wow >GW started after that.
+ if people make stupid and blatenely untrue comments they are asking to be bashed, like saying that wow is not boring, cause it's only boring till lvl 25, thats what like 30 hours of playtime, I mean for god sakes.
+ if you want real WoW just go to the official wow forums, a lot of people there have bashid it more then I have.
