planethalflife.com is a fan site just like this one is.

As far as the steam release goes, Gabe said before that it will be on the same day as retail.

HL2Central has done some investigating and come across reliable information that the HL2 delay is due to the new CD-Key system valve is implementing. Gabe Newell has responded to many emails saying he has not heard anything about the delay, so it is still unknow what is going on. HL2 central has contacted valve and is awaiting reply. All we can confirm right now is vivendi has said HL2 is delayed, however Gabe Newell is disputing that in recent emails.

Even if Gabe was not informed, I dont think he simply said "oh well" and went back to work. The first thing he probably did was contact VU since this is certain to cause all kinds of trouble in the PR department.

So tomorrow (if not today) we'll know for sure.

Does anyone know the release date of the original HL? A lot of discussion when it was first announced was the possiblity of a 5 year anniversary release. I think HL came out in October or November sometime, therefore, pushing HL2's release to that same date would make it exactly 5 years. Mazel Tov and what not, but I'd rather just have the game on Sept. 30th.
 
They just threw up a little poll over at planethalflife.com about the delay. 80% of the people so far have responded "ARGGH!!! WARRRGHH! DAMMIT!!" :)

If the effing game is delayed, it better be because they are releasing it to coincide with HL the movie. Knowing Valve, they like to keep things a complete secret until the last moment. Hopefully its true and HL the movie is real and its all released together.......

I refuse to acknowledge this piece of information and will still be reserving the game for September 30th.
 
I also refuse to believe this until Gabe says something to the community via an official announcement.
 
Remember that you shouldnt count Planet Half-life as a source....someone started it and other people picked it up...there is a 50/50 chance that it is delayed.

Just wait for news and then either cry/smile. Once again, its a 50/50 chance...although it always is.

ive got a bad feeling this is true, seems they have both spoken to the publishers seperatly. be good if we knew if this was from one or two sources or what. (by source i mean vivendi not gamespot etc.)

man theyll lose big bucks delaying this game. ffs stalker got delayed pretty much cus hl2 release was 30th sept so i wonder whatll happen to stalker (earlier release date?)

Sierra and Vivendi own the rights to Half-Life 2.

They say when it's released. They say if it's cancelled. They say who develops it.

Valve just makes the games. :borg:

Oh well, lots more stuff to keep us busy till HL2 if this is all true.

maybe they put this delay thing out to hype up hl2 give it a fresh buzz around the community.

I think the whole "Holiday" idea is ridiculous. Think about it: If HL2 will be released on Sept 30 it will still be up for sale during the holiday season. Does that mean people will not buy it because it was released 2 months ago? Of course they will. Plus HL2 has a massive following, so the earlier release date would generate millions of $ right away.

So if HL2 is gona be delayed it is purely for technical reasons .. which doesn't make any sense with the Gabe emails in mind.

Its the best mod for HL now and pushes the current engine to its limits.

Not at all comparable to HL2 but a good way to make some time fly away while you wait for it.
 
The Specialist 2.0 is better IMO. but we all have our opions dont we. :cool:

ALL games sites are got the delay issue on their sites.

Means, the game release date is in XMAZ...fuk;(
 
That's a good point actually... I've been waiting for Halo pc since it was originally being developed as a PC game (never tried the xbox version) so if it come out early enough, I'll have a decent SP experience to tie me over to HL2. Anyone know any official dates on Halo2?

EDIT: Ill prolly be playing Jk3,Far Cry, and prolly Call of Duty if HL2 comes out christmas time
