OK...So...Have we suffered long enough?
AT 9:30AM, on Saturday 13 November, I bought a Best Buy in suburban Detroit I bought a retail copy of "Half Life 2". Now today I read in Steam News that Vivendi is keeping Valve from unlocking my Gold copy (and everyone else's sopies of the various metallic flavours) of the game because to do so would violate "contractual obligations"...Sounds to me like the obligations are not being violated by Valve, but have been violated by Vivendi...Meanwhile we, the gamers, get to suffer!
I hope Valve takes this seriously, and seriously take Vivendi to task...
