Hey everyone, this is a hardcore HL1 player...

Illinois Netcade is down now, but stop on over there anytime after Cam gets it back up. The address is 63.144.74.190:27015. Alot of the maps he runs are maps made by me. He also loves Eden and Castle_overload.

Man you guys are jerks. His first post was cocky but besides that he hasn't made one rude statement yet you all flame him. I'd say he is better then the lot of you who post damn delay threads and the "what if HL2 doesn't come out" or how about the "I called company X" lets not forget the "Why is there no news threads". And to top it all off we have Doom III threads in general discussion where it specifically states HL2 only.

Oh yeah, the reason your one of the top 20 hl1 players is because your one of the only 20 people still playing it.
 
Why is the default reaction in these forums to act like an ass?

Leave your ****ing CS attitude at the door. If you have nothing to contribute or if the main purpose of your post is to insult then just move on... jeez there are 1000s of posts here daily and only a hand full are even worth anything. Don't ruin the hl2 community before the game comes out.
 
I find more than twenty people playing on HDK everyday. So I think you might be mistaken about the number of people still playing HLDM.

You left out the fact that you got caught with so many cheats in the last HLDM North American tournament that you got expelled indefinantly from all future tournaments by the same founders.

And that you were/are the laughing stock of HLDM to all players that were/are still playing.

Seeing all those numbers and caps in that guys name reminds me of the 15yr olds that play CS on their mommy and daddy's computer.

Im overjoyed thinking that these people will be playing HL2 the day it comes out....CS was good for a while until the teenies started playing.... HL2 will be ruined right away.
 
hehe, How can all of you take Multiplayer so seriously? Is it all about who is the best hack? Yes all of the CS teenies have turned into a cheating crybaby fest...... If you pay attention to what they say(I dont anymore) its always the same thing "whats with the lag" "your a hack" and heeps of childish namecalling........
So in conclusion. If this bragging s3pReMiSis is a hack. good for him.
And if I am "owned" by a hack, So What.
I still have fun.
And yes, HL2 MP will be awsome, for a while.
 
my name is root and i played half-life mp yesterday and went 700 and 50 :\

got to love a server that runs only datacore and never changes maps.

heh, well I'm from HLCCL .. you know, the same community that saw the likes of XKI, HKK ( undefeated ), etc, etc.

I don't recognise your name either, perhaps you're a cs or dod "newbie".

How many of you guys were around to play Doom when it was released .. and not just played it years and years later because you heard it was a classic?

Any Quake 1 players here?
How about original Team Fortress players? How many here didn't know that TFC wasn't the original version?
Quake 2 players here?
How about when the S3 ViRGE cards came out? Heh, they actually turned out to be 3D De-accelerators :p
Remember when 3DFX was the best there was? Man, that Voodoo (1) card was spectacular! Quake with a 3DFX was where it was at.

This wasn't THAT long ago mind you :p

Just curious to see if there are any older players here (not age wise).
 
I played HLDM for the second time in my life yesterday... then I did it again today.

I'd say I'm about... ooohhh... first place.
 
Uhh... once I discovered Duke Nukem: Atomic I didn't really care for quake or doom... Just not enough interactivity...

Prolly the reason I hate the Doom III alpha :/

It's pretty obvious that TFC wasn't the orgional I mean there are OLD models and it's Team Fortress CLASSIC. It's sticking out at you, saying "HEY IM NOT THE ORIGINAL!"

Been playing Counter-Strike since 2000... I don't think that matters though.... If you played way back in 1998 and only played ONCE then NOW you wouldn't be any better.
 
Duke Nukem 3D was great when it came out. I played it quite a bit and I'm thinking of installing it for old times sake, ya know?

QuakeDM was all about fast paced action and Doom was.. well Doom was Doom. Of course, now I can't play standard Death match or even capture the flag without it having anything interesting in it (preferbly classes, realistic/authentic weapons, and goals per map) - this goes for any game I play.

I've encounted people that seriously believe that TFC is the first incarnation of Team Fortress and other people that believe that Capture the Flag started in Quake 2.

I played Counter Strike, nearly non-stop, from it's incarnation to about 1.0 when I gave up. I saw how the community changed from decent (very little people compared to now) to the way it is now - horrible. I was pretty darn good at CS and I loved it. It was also stressful and very competitive. When I saw the kinds of people that were taking over (in droves) I didn't like what I saw and left.

The common player was becoming increasingly hostile for what seemed like each time I would play. Now, in some cases, you can't say a word in almost any server without someone responding with nub/noob/n00b followed by a LOL or LOLOLOLLOOl with a few 11!!!1111.

The cheating didn't help at all either...
 
Played some Doom, but by the time I got a 486 that could play it well, there were better games out there (System Shock, tons of cool adventure games)

Quake 1 - I was really sad to let this go. Spent an obscene amount of time on QW and TF but never finished the SP :)

Never much cared for Quake2 (I held it responsible for shattering the Quake community) and the weapons and physics just felt so wrong :)
 
Yeah, when Doom was released and you had a system to play the game it was fantastic.

Quake 2 was the first time I decided to join a clan (Devious Assassins) and I had lots of fun with it because of such.. toward the end of my Quake 2 playtime is when I started to get very tiresome of Death Match and CTF style gameplay.. it just wasn't enough.

Ares, I remember back in the day when3DFX beat the hell out of everything when is was out. It still hard for me to get rid of my Voodoo5, even though my new Radeon 9800 PRO is much better. But you can't let the classics die.
