Lost Season 4

It angers me so much now we know that Ben gets off the island. He's a good character, but god dammit do I hate him so.

They have been implying that there is something about the Island and time for a while now, so at least that part of the story has been planned pretty much since the beginning.

It's kind of obvious they know where they are going with it. Has been since S3.

I don't think so. Everything they write has the hallmark of making it up as they go along. It is very similar to the way I wrote my last novel. When a writer makes stuff up as he goes, he tends to put particular importance on certain current events which are meaningless in the context of the rest of the story or the story in the past, and he tends to abandon certain facts and bring them up later.

Example: The "split" between Locke and the doctor.

This split was given far too much importance, and the way they referred to it was entirely unrealistic. The charachters suddenly saw some huge divide between the two "groups" and they had some overly dramatic thing where you were either "with us" or "against us." This is very telling of the writing style. It means they had some vauge idea about "let's put them into two distinct groups or something", and so they had to invent an event to make all of this happen (the gathering and the split).

Another example is the monster and the hatch. The writers probably initially planned for these two things to be extremely important mysteries. In fact, they were the focus of the show for the first couple of seasons. But as they wrote more, and revealed more, these things lost importance. We stopped finding hatches, and the monster disappeared almost entirely except as an easy way to kill of charachters. They no longer wander through the woods afraid of the monster, because the writers intend for them to run all over the island now to go through all the twisted plot convolutions, and they can't be bogged down with the constant threat of the monster. Eventually, the monster will appear again, and will become the all-important issue of the episode or season.

I think that just means they're not running off of a 100% defined script, and are making up the details as they go along, which I always figured. It doesn't mean that the broad plot isn't set or planned though.

I love the series.Although, introducing new riddles and mysteries without revealing any of the previous ones be pissing me a bit off.theotherguy pretty much summed it up.
Halfway through a season a new plot line is introduced and we're left off wondering wtf happened to the elements that build up all of that suspense to that point.
I love every bit of the show but the writers really need to learn how to complete a ****ing story arc.

My theory on LOST

Hey guys, this came to me last night when I saw a video, and personally, I think the 'survivors' are clones. Here's why I think this.

First, watch this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bTvAUVPyLI

Clearly the dharma cloned a rabbit, in The orchid. What do you do in an orchid? you grow things. I guess they might have been cloning polar bears as well.

Being clones, would explain why lockes paralysis is gone, why sun can conceive and so on. It could also be how they got johns dad onto the island.

Now remember we hear in season 3 from (naomi, i think?) that they found the crash of the flight, and that bodies were found. This is another reason why I believe they are cloned. Implanted with memories from the crash, and their previous lives.

It would also explain why ben doesn't want them getting off the island. If their bodies have been found already, what would the world think if they came back?

We can see the others do not show much consideration towards the 'survivors' e.g claire being taken. this is because they are simply experiments, not real natural human beings.

I guess whatever the button desmond was pressing was keeping a huge magnetic force or something from keeping things coming to the island, but it could push things away (why they say you can leave but never return) and when he failed to it built up and sucked in everything, e.g the plane, the black rock, Ekos brothers plane.

Just my out-there theory anyway.

Two fifteens? Casimir effect? Something quantum is going on.

Where are the science bods?

It's either cloning, or parallel times/universe/what Sulkdodds said.

interesting theory
how would you explain the flashforwards then? it doesn't seem like they're being treated as clones by the general population

Yeah but someone wants them contained don't they. Like the black guy at the hospital. And the reason they all want to get to the island so bad is because really, it's all they know, where their lives started.

Abaddon was concerned if "they" (presumably the team he sent over) were still alive, and they want to go back because they feel they should not necessarily for themselves but more for the people still there. It's a good theory, but you're not going to make that part fit so easily.

P.S. Ever seen the film "The Island"?

good theory, but if they were clones, the planes pilot would have his ring on.

That is one of the more sane theories I've heard, it's pretty good despite a couple holes in it.

It involves time travel, I know that much
The Bear at the Tunisian dig site
The Slight delay (of about an hour) for the scientific rocket to land
The Orchid video

If time travel is the case, then it would explain Bens enthusiasm to keeping the survivors in the dark, and the reason why Dharma was killed, because you don't unwittingly want to create a Time Paradox.

But what if you were supposed to start the Birth of the Human Race, all those thousands of years ago

Put spoiler in the title, some people on these forums are on season 1.

How do you think cloning would work if women who conceive on the island can't even come to term without both her and the baby dying horribly?
Do you think clones are made in tanks or something?

Ezzactly, could be just teleportation (as was hinted at with Locke's dad).

Speaking of which, what do you think the deal was with Locke's dad appearing? More island freakishness, or just the others utilising some of their mysterious outside connections?

Wait a minute, this also could explain the prior pregnant women unable to conceive on the island. It could be that it was the problem with past clones and it was a trial and error thing and this batch of clones were successful. It was mentioned before but it would also explain why Ben would want to keep them a secret and the plane that was found.

I think time travel and cell manipulation is on the cards here it is known in some science circles that dna could hold the memories of that person or things past so when the emp went off it did had an effect on the plane and everyone on it so splitting the plane into to 2 planes one on the island the other in the ocean where the robots found it. Dharma were experimenting with time travel and cloning it worked ben didnt like it killed them off cos hes obsessed with pregnant woman due to his mother ie experiments on mother to be.

Maybe just maybe the black smoke is the by product of this cloning process you speak off that went wrong in some past experiment.

The mysterious black guy that goes to visit Hurley that sets up the 'search and retrieve' mission for ben could either be part of a later rendition of Dharma or another company aware of the islands existance and the experiments that go on there.

Some nice ideas guys keep it up !

Just a thought

Hmmm..that's an interesting thought about the smoke, and my theory on the black guy is that the team who was sent to the island is actually a search and destroy team who have come to stop Ben and the actual clones (the survivors) are just a secondary objective.

That's what I don't like about 99% of Lost theories, they're half-baked with gaping holes and don't come close to explaining half the stuff that's going on.

I have absolutely no idea who/what Jacob is, and until Locke stumbled upon him, I thought he was just a scare tactic.

On another note I'm pretty sure that Sawyer is one of the Oceanic 6 because no one went to his funeral in the last Lost finale...opinions?

Some theory on Jacob that I picture saved, although I forgot where it came from and the actually reasong/theory, so it may be pretty pointless. Jacobs house, Jacobs chair... apparantly.

Only thing I can think of wrong with the "they are clones" bit, is Claire is still as far along with her pregnancy as before. Hard to clone that \=
*edit*
you messed up A

Damnit all, when I posted the picture the forum went all ****ed up so I missed the chance to check it over. Edit edit edit zing.

I dont think it was Sawyer at the parlour when jack got out of the car , the area seemed predominantly black, maybe we shall see a return of Walt and his father,

who knows !!1

What exactly happened there with the rabbit? What fell from the ceiling?

I think the falling object is something being pushed off the shelf as the rabbit appeared.

You could have changed the title and done it right. :p

Sloppy job, Dodds. Just sloppy.

Samon. You can't close the thread. This is the Lost thread now. Get with the program!
