Official Bad Company 2 thread - no beta talk here!

I don't think I've ever been toobed while getting "Dropped on". It's always *round corner, pop, respawn*

Really? How would that be any different from going round a corner and getting shot in the head? If the guy was waiting for you to round a corner I'd say he had a serious advantage anyway.

And even with 2.5 meter kill radius it's still pretty damn unreliable when hitting guys in the open. It only consistently kills people who are sitting right next to destructible cover. One change I definitely would make is the one-hit kill at close range when the grenade doesn't explode. It'd probably **** you up in real life but for gameplay purposes that should only wound. It kind of makes the 40mm shotgun obsolete otherwise.

The solution here would just be to make it instant arm so it blows up. That way you suicide too. It would deter the instant fire.

But um... what do you use the Recon class for outside of sniping? Grab a shotgun and go running headlong into the fray to die? Having two or three recon doing a good job in a round can make the difference in winning or losing, especially with good spotting and mortar use. I've found that using a magnum ammo at all with any of the bolt action rifles is useless. Even the M95 with magnum only does a little less than 99 damage so there's no one shot kill at range unless it's a headshot which works every time.

I still think the AN-94 is the best assault weapon. It does more damage than the M16 and, despite having less accuracy, is still pretty accurate at range.

The Gustav currently does that, and it doesn't make it any less irritating. People will happily take you with them if the alternative is trying to change weapon and getting killed. The grenade launcher does need some sort of handicap and making it useless at any range below the arming distance sounds fine to me.

I'm just starting to give recon a proper try and I haven't touched a bolt action sniper rifle yet. I've basically just been playing it as an assault class with a G3 + magnum ammo and C4, and more recently a similar sort of designated marksman role with the SVU + ACOG and magnum ammo. That second combo might just be my new favourite, managed 39-11 as the top player on my first round with it. Otherwise just stick to your squad like any other class and lay down motion mines, booby trap M-COMs with C4 and take out vehicles and buildings if you can. A ton of fun.

yeah, assault based recon is the best alternative really. with mortars and a motion sensor, and with weapons that can hold out at range (thompson, m14, G3) it is just assault without the ammo boxes. i play offensive recon all the time.

just unlocked the m14 today and whilst a bit jumpy, i ****ing love it. actually i unlocked tons of shit today as i've just been on for about 3/4 hours with some mates in a squad. never played a bad round, was fantastic start to finish. **** i love this game.

Well I mean when you have assault medic and assault engineer and assault assault I can't see having more people assaulting... unless you have 15 recons sniping... because that does nothing for anyone. A good recon sniping can get a ton of points just from spotting and assisting though. Not to mention on those maps where there's like one APC every 20 years and no one is an engineer to take it out, they're pretty much the only hope of getting rid of it.

I'm sure assault recon has its purpose but I'd rather them be out there spotting everyone visible and taking out other snipers so I can move freely.

This describes pretty much the only time I ever pick recon. If everyone's letting a tank or APC destroy us, and theres only like one or two, or zero engineers damaging it I'll go recon and drop mortars on it, since then it will kill their repairing engineers as well.

Gustav users don't care if they kill themselves. Their ammo count is already low enough that they wouldn't mind respawning with full stock. The blast radius needs to be shrunk to the same as the RPG. It's an anti vehicle weapon, this should encourage it's use as one much like the other rockets are. M60 and M1911 also need nerfs asap because they are clearly superior.

Although I do admit using the Gustav out of the window seat of a Blackhawk is massive luls.

but... this isn't always the case. it's impossible to say that everyone is always doing this when they should be doing that as 9 times out 10, there are others playing that recon role. if someone isn't, i'll do it myself.

occasionally, yes, you get teams of whole snipers, or whatever, but it's never a definate.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than stopping a tank in it's tracks with mortar fire.

It just kinda puts a smile on my face.

Had a good few round with Unfocused last night. Got 4 ace pins in a row :D

Can't wait to finish my coursework, get to play more :D

Yeah, I had to wait for Ren to get off the server to finally get an ace pin for myself :p

Good games!

This game is utter dogshit on the PC.

You spend most of your time trying to find a server where you can a ping that is somewhat playable and then you'll join just so you can get gustav'd and tubed.

Anyone who is considering to get this should go for the console version.

Lag on the console version? I had 25h logged on the PS3 version and never had a single timeout or any lag issues at all. Also the tubing and gustaving is much worse on the PC version.

From what I've seen of my friend playing, tubing and gustaving is just as bad, and he gets lag all the time lately while he didn't before.

both are valid for either version. lag is going to be lag wherever you go, wherever you are based, wherever the server you are playing on is different to you, and the noob tubes and gustavs are the same anyway. step back, reconsider your arguments, give yourselfs slaps for being awful boarders and carry on.

I've only recently started to get lag and it's fairly intermittent. Sometimes it's unplayable but most of the time it's fine. It used to be fine all the time but I think maybe the most recent patch or some random point between release and now it started to get worse.

Whats a boarder, and why would I slap myself for saying the same thing you did?

Dalamari: Note my console lag rage a page or two back.

After playing a bit more and getting used to not having auto-aim hold my hand through every kill I can say this game isn't utter dog shit, now it's just frustrating. But I have to say I enjoy being able to freely chat and choose my squad. The biggest thing that pissed me off in the console version was the game sticking you with a squad and even if you left and tried to join another it'd just place you back in the same shitty squad.

board... forum board... doesn't matter

naw, you fell into the same form as dalamari for calling out one version as being shit over another when the problem is across both platforms. i acknowledge them on both, not one and not the other. i was joking, really, but still.

something wrong with your comp, bro

Lowest ping I've had is in the 120's which is certainly playable but it's still fairly high

I usually get into a server with pretty decent ping. That's strange.

You're not mistaking latency for ping are you? If not seems like a problem on your end.

Didn't know there was a difference

knifing a building wut

I think they enjoy that bug and they will never fix it. It really makes that M-Comm, that's already easy to take, a free shot for any attacker willing to walk over to it.

somebody needs to mod this game to replace the uav with a mini death star

that is, once it's fully operational.

Maybe they're relying on modders to make the game work correctly... that's a novel idea...

You know I just noticed something... the medic rubs his paddles together after he defibrillates. You're supposed to rub them together before to spread conductive gel and remove any rogue static charges right? Strange...

these are special defibrillators that immediately restore a heart rate and a standing position. They also remove bullets, shrapnel, and dander.

I guess they are pretty special. Rubbing them together afterwards must knock all of those removed pieces off the paddles...

I don't think they are rubbing them afterwards as such, i think that is meant to be rubbing them together ready for the next defib. i.e. rubbing them together before defibrilating, but it appears as if he's rubbing them together after. If you catch my drift ?

:E

What's with all this talk of rubbing things off.

I tried that knifing a building glitch last night and it does really work. xD

Almost unlocked my M95 now, can't wait :D I do enjoy the GOL a lot though :)

the m95 isn't a big deal, I still mostly use the m24. I wish there was a bigger difference between the rifles, but they're all so similar.

Best thing is Type 88 Sniper with a red dot and some magnum ammo

Ultimate assault sniper (besides shotgun + slugs)

been using the usas-12 shotgun today, dominated a team on laguna alta as attackers by getting up in their shit with it and my squad of friends. seriously devestating in tight quaters such as mcom rooms with the 12 rounds perk thingy.
