God of War 2 - 8.9/10

Not as good as the 1st in turms of story, but still great. Cant wait for part 3.

:p

(From a looong time ago though.)

Lost Planet: 3/10

Come on, the gameplay SUCKS. The story is good, but the gameplay suck soooo much.
Graphics: 10/10
Gameplay: 0/10
Story: 6/10
:(
Wasted my money.

God of War 2 - 9/10

God damn wing ripping, head 'sploding, spine ripping, eye pulling, f*cktastic fun.

Lego Star Wars 2 - 7.5/10

Fun stuff. I like how some of the scenes were done.

Spider Man 3 - 6.6/10

Big city is biiiiig.

Earth Defense Force 2017 - 9/10

Mindless violence cheesy 50's Japanese B Scifi Monster movie style is made of pure win.

Penumbra : Overture - 8.2/10...

Creepy as hell, combat's a bit awkward though, and it's way too short... beat it in 2 hours.
**** episodic games. :|

Oh no, Sebastian is banned. Why come?

Some good games I played yesterday:

R-Type Delta - PS1 - 9/10 First Impression (i've tried almost every R-Type, this one is probably the best so far)

MegaMan 8 - PS1 - 9/10 First Impression (i've tried almost every MegaMan, this one is probably the best so far)

Oblivion (PS3) - 9.5/10

Played on the PC when it was released but now I could get to play the game at an ACCEPTABLE framerate for once instead of having it look like Morrowind while frameskipping over the land of Cyrodiil.

Just as good as I remember, funnily enough though I have yet to grow bored of it with 90+ hours in.
Nights of the Nine were a nice addition too, and hopefully Shivering Isles will find its way onto the PS3 as well.

Pokemon Emerald - 8/10

Still addictive, but nowhere near as fun as the FireRed/LeafGreen remakes.

Halo - 6/10

I gave it a second chance, and now I almost enjoyed it. Uninstalled it as soon as the flood levels got boring.

Call of Duty 2 9/10 totally awesome. Would probably be a 10 if my system didn't suck.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 - 6/10

Nice graphics and some nice elements to it, however i didn't keep interested enough to want me to complete it, i stopped around the start of the second chapter to go on better games in fact. The multiplayer is really dodgey, you have to be in FPS form, even though the menu says that you can have third person form.

Spider-Man 3 - 8/10

Basically the same as the previous Spidey game but with better visuals, bigger city, few tweaks here and there. I loved the previous Spidey though, and I love this one even more :D

Oblivion - 10/10

Truely brilliant, im still only on my first character and have no where near completed it, but already, i can tell its a cracking game.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Visuals: 10/10
Awesome if you have a great computer.

Physics: 6/10
Ragdoll bodies that throw themselves over bridges! But the rest of the world is solid. :|

Gameplay: 4/10
If you want, buy a house in a random city. After that... um, back to the storyline. The dynamic difficulty system messes things up.

Positive:
  • Awesome visuals.
  • Patrick Stewart!
  • Freedom!
  • If you hate the game, you can download an addon that fixes whatever you hate! Oh yeah.

Negative:
  • The bugs.
  • The game pauses when talking to people.
  • Not total freedom.
  • Loading times (fix downloadable)
  • Questionable AI.
Overall score:

6.5/10

Could've been better.

Jurassic Park : Operation Genesis - 7.8/10...
Really great game visually and sound wise.
Had fun building a park from scratch for about 2 1/2 hours.
The interface is a bit clunky, you can definitely tell it's a console port.
The action elements are really neat, having to rescue visitors from rampaging dinos that broke through the fencing.
After awhile there's really not much else you can do once you've researched everything.

Ha! That brings back memories. Got that game when it first came out on PS2. Much fun.

Half-Life 2 - 9/10 - Replaying it. Still love it :)

Super Paper Mario: 6/10

I love the game, it just does not have the Mario "feel" to it. Not a big fan of the pathetic attempt at a deep storyline either.

SWAT 4 - 8.5/10

Great graphics and gameplay (breaching shotgun ftw !) for the time, yet the early missions (up to the A-Bomb club) feel FAR too easy, with only 1-2 hostiles per mission. Past that it get ridiculous - three story office complexes with 10-20 hostiles ! Not being able to breach/shotgun unlocked doors open, then storm/gas/flash/sting the room takes a few marks off the total score, though.

However, finishing the game does leave a feel of immense satisfaction, though.

Freelancer: 8/10

Pros:
HUGE game with a lot of exploration, very free-form in the downtime of the decent storyline. Once your done with the story, there's still a whole lot to do. Great visuals and style for its age.

Cons:
Piss-poor acting except for some of the main characters, gameplay can get repetitive, trading could have been more efficient.

Tomb Raider - Legend: 8/10

Pros:
Fun in an adventure/puzzler capacity, with some pretty nifty environmental challenges. They won't keep you guessing for hours, but they will leave you with a good sense of accomplishment. Pretty graphics and a decent story don't hurt either.

Oh, and a competent PC port from Eidos, yay!

Cons:
Combat is mostly mediocre, and the auto-aim isn't always intuitive, even with mouse control. Few other niggling control issues put a damper on things sometimes, ie - using WASD to direct Lara on a ledge you might press the wrong direction relative to the camera and, say, jump off a wall instead of along it (I think this has caused most of my deaths to date, but maybe it's just me :)).

Challenge:
Moderate. Although I am playing on medium, I can't imagine it gets much harder since combat is more of a distraction than anything. I haven't been stumped by a puzzle yet and a checkpoint is never far behind if you plummet to your death anyway (surpringly short fall distance though).

Stalker 9/10

Presently redoing it. Really like the atmosphere of the game, however the interface is poor and insanely painful when it comes to trading/searching and the moving between. It's going to be interesting to see how Fallout Oblivion, I mean 3 compares

As a bit of light relief I've been moonlighting from days in Chernobyl with:-

UFO:Afterlight 9/10

20 quid on steam..why not. I'm liking this strat/tactical game a lot, lush looking graphics in a style that makes me think a lot of the upcoming TF2. One thing I would say is save often esp before the military missions, and that it essential to get your techs/scientists out building mines for resourcing asap. It's a race to have your people in a decent situation before the shit starts hitting the fan. Camera in the tactical can be a bit arsey at times, but as you can pause it's no biggie.

UFO: Afterlight is that good? I might have to try it out then...

Shellshock: 'Nam 67 6.5/10

Good 'ol gorefest.

Black - 8/10

Good 'ol blow stuff the **** up fest.

Commandos Strike Force - 4/10

Good 'ol- WHAT THE **** IS THAT?!

Call of Duty 2 8/10

Just picked up this game recently. The campaigns are fantastic, except for maybe the tank missions. There's not much new content, it's just more Call of Duty, what more is there to ask for? Many of the maps are big, and there are often multiple routs to choose from. I like how your fellow soldiers are actually useful. I don't have to be a one man army due to the lack of effort from teammates. In other games if I take a break from shooting for 3 seconds my whole team will explode!

Halo 3 Beta - 4/10

More unbalanced, no-skill multiplayer garbage that plagued #2. I think I'll just rent it for the SP and not purchase it on general principle.

R6:Vegas (360) - 8.8/10

Singleplayer is downright annoying sometimes (1st time playing through and I picked Realistic) but it's pretty good. The multiplayer is f*cking awesome and addictive though. I play it every day trying to rank up and get new customizable gear/weapons for my guy.

Galactic Civilizations - 10/10

Hell yes. Really fast space strategy that really creates epic stories. Amazing AI.

Galactic Civilizations 2 - 7/10

Well, still hell yes, but it's slower. 3D graphics. Being able to play for more than Earth. Custom civilizations (only one?).

Kirby's Adventure - 9/10

I wasn't really expecting much of this game but it is really good! Some great platforming and the copy ability is pretty nice. It's a shame that it's plagued by horrible slow-down due to a crappy PAL conversion...

Halo 2 - 6.7/10
God-awful SP, Bearable MP.

Heroes of Might and Magic 5 - 5.5/10
Ubisoft really messed this up. Sucks compared to HoMM3, but pissible to play.

Painkiller - 5.9/10
Great fun, but oh, so pointless. It had some of those quirly weapons Serious Sam was missing, but I hoped there would be more.

C&C3 - 9/10

Worms Armageddon (LAN) - 10/10
Comedy, laughing and simplicity value are simply UNMATCHED when playing LAN.

Prey - 7/10
Original

Medieval 2 - 9/10
Best game to lose time to.

Medieval 2 - 9/10
Best game to lose time to.

I didn't really like it, Rome: Total War will always be perfect for me, plus the Pope on Medieval did my head in. 'Attack <insert scotish city> and you will be greatly rewarded', *Besieged immediately* - *next turn* - 'cease hostilities with scotland or you shall excommunicated' which was ordered whilst the order to attack a scotish city was still going.

WTF.

Starcraft: Brood War - 10/10

It's revival time.
