jimbo, you are aware you see the location off your side-mission objectives like say people etc in the task map?

Ive had it where the locations show up on my map, and I can find them, but there is nothing in them. Ive also found random stashes scattered around, but never anything in them either.

the caches always have something in them ..you're not finding the right ones ..the purple icon disappears on your map when you take out all of the contents out of the stash

example: in cordon there's stash near the derailed train bridge on top of the farm building to the left of the bridge in a little snipers perch ..but there's also a stash directly below it with bandages and medkit which leads you to believe you've found the stalker stash but it's actually on top of the roof of the building

I always wondered what the purple blips were. So they are stashes of equipment? Very good to know.

Wow that should really help out, thanks, good to know. I sold practically everything I own so I could buy the 6000 ru body armour from Sidrovich after the second mission maybe. Didn't really notice too much of a difference wearing it. Now I'm broke and need to re supply. I'll go on a purple icon hunt. I take it those locations are opened up via PDAs you find?

It's amazing how hard some of the fights are to get into and out of different sections of the map. I'm trying to get to Agropop or whatever and the fight to get there is something else. I even have 150 armor piercing rounds for the baby AK I have and I'm struggling.

Has anyone finished this game yet? How long did it take? Allthough rushing through the game probably ruins the fun factor, exploring.

sometimes you wont even notice it till it shows up on the map

I get owned by 3 enemies ..I can barely make it out alive and that's with using good cover/strategy ..they really are unpredictable at times

There are way too many bandits on the road out of cordon..all the time!

And i hate having to go back to Sidrovich all the time after doing some of his side quests D:

ya after you've killed the military guys at the check point, bandits take over ..thankfully they're not as well armored as the military guys

That's the truth and despite how incredibly close to impossible it can get at times, I love that part.

I really like the drawn out gun fights and the feeling I get when I survive one. I like how they can happen anywhere and usually the environment plays a significant role in it. As strange as it sounds I also like the limited amount of ammo they give you. It really drives the survival aspect home.

yup and the fact that the gun can jam ..in most games I can go toe to toe with 3 enemies no problems ..but in stalker I really have to plan my assault

Yeah the gun battles in Stalker are awesome. The AI is also fantastic to. I love this game.

I just wish the knife was more useful at times.

I can't wait till the mod tools come out. The AI could use some tweaks though. For example, sometimes once i kill one person with a silenced pistol or knife and no one see's.... everyone knows where I am.

the gun jamming can get mighty annoying when you're fighting a psi monster or something and it jams several times in a row

but i deifnitely agree, the fights in the game are ****ing great.

it jams more often depending on the quality ...I always pick up guns even if I have it already and compare quality ...less chance of it jamming during those crucial moments

Oh yeah. I've had a guy come right around a corner at me. Tried to shoot. *Jam*. He has a shotgun and just blows me away.

HOW DO I GET DYNAMIC LIGHTING AND ALL THOSE GREYED OUT GRAPHICAL THINGS TO WORK?!?!?!?!

_k_

I wonder if Radeon 9600Pro is enough to run this game decently

Just got inot Agropom. Only had my shotty and pistol when faced with all the Bandits by the Garbage bandits on the path to Agropom, just sprinted past them all :D

Considering how old this game is, I'd say it will run run it just fine. Its more heavy on CPU and RAM than anything, like most RPGs are.

What is the point of money? I'm kinda disappointed, I'm a pack rat in rpgs, I like hoarding stuff around to sell to npcs. But it seems pointless in this game, after three treks back to a trader and I realized I don't need money. And with the infinite resupply bug on corpses, there's never any shortage of anti-rads, bandages, ammo and what not.

you can buy information later in the game, and ammo gets expensive when you start having to spend almost all your ammo in a single mission for instance

you can never have enough medpaks either.. i like the fact that if you manage health and ammo properly you can get into missions much harder than you should be able to handle.. like venturing into the army warehouses when you're supposed to be at X18.. great way to stock up on cool weapons

I suppose but so far I payed an informant 4000 RU and he told me about Strelok's stash which I had just turned in. Anyway, now I'm stuck on the Family Rifle. I'm at the marker, and the chest is empty. I don't think I missed any quest updates either. If anyone has a tip, I'd really appreciate it.

The information guy is really useless as...well his info is useless. I just use him to spend money I don't need :p.

OK, I caved in and bought it, in large part because the CE tin looks so cool. Played for about an hour now and I really like it. It's like one of those imported Soviet watches I had as a kid: sub-superior clockwork, slightly out of date design but so cool.

One question: where can I find the screenshots?

anyone else find the stalker suit in the first village in cordon, the one right outside sid's place, where you start the game, where wolf is etc, its in one of the attics of the houses, i wont say which one ;) try and find it :)

edit

also on the stashes, f.e i went to one east of the railway, it is very close to a fire where a couple of rookie stalkers sit and play guitar etc, there is a cross there, the info on the stash says its buried under the cross or something, i searched the cross as the option was available and found an artefact but the purple icon is still on the map, did i not find the actual stash? theres nothing else around :/

I had trouble finding the family rifle too. Hint: The empty chest you found is probably the one directly above it. Look underground. Also keep an eye out for the SEVA suit in that same area, it will help a lot in your adventures.

Searching now

EDIT Well, I'll be damned. I searched every attic of every house, found three stashes, but they were all empty.

most stash contents are random, aren't they..?

Are you guys talking about the stash under the cross in Cordon? I've searched it and found nothing

one of the stashes is underground ...there's a crawl space in the entrance to house where you can climb down into the cellar

I still cant find the stash that's right next to the fire side in cordon ..the map says it's right in the attic but I know it cant be there ..there must be access to a different part of the house but just havent found it

Yeah, but there's nothing there. Oh well, I'll bump into something else. More exploring!

Oh, and where can I find my screenshots?

NM Shared Documents/STALKER SHOC

yeah I never found that one either, sposed to be in the cellar but there's no cellar :/

Well, I went out today and I couldn't help myself. :E

Installing now...

is that the 1 in the first house on the left hand side, the description says 'to wait for some1 to put something nice there' or some shite? if so its the destroyed house, its a small tin container, you go up the ladder and you will see it at the end of 1 plank, you need to crouch to get to it, i think thats it, not totally sure tbh...

the russian patch is out btw, saw it in the forums at oblivion lost or whatver its called...

btw shaker the suit is in the last house on the left side of the village or north side if you will, go up the ladder beside wolf but crouch-hug the wall and move along the side, then jump onto the roof, make a running jump onto the next house and look inside the cracks in this house's roof, you will see a box at the far end, there is a hole there too, shoot the box and crouch as much as possible to obtain the suit

I apologize if this has been answered before but is Monolith a joinable faction or are they always hostile? You'd think they would like me after all the Freedom members I have slaughtered wholesale.
