Scout Troubles

As for everyone asshatting about the scout law then pull your dick around and **** yourself,

but that would get you banned from the Boy Scouts because that's a little too close to the GAY

it's a volunteer organization and you don't have to be in it if you don't want to.

some people may want to but cant because they dont believe in jesus sky wizards and adam and eve ...in fact their belief in Adam and Steve is what prevents them from joining. so your pont is stupid

I think PETA is full of shit, but I don't care about them because I don't have to join!

but you could if you wanted to right? I mean if you're gay and believe in evolution you'd have no problem joining PETA ...just not the boyscouts, because they have fancy ideals to protect; like ignorance, blind faith and being told how to think and act

Personally I wouldn't be interested in camping with a homosexual in my tent or showering at camp with someone who is, sorry if that makes me more than a little uncomfortable.

yes because all homosexualts want to rape unwilling hgeterosexuals. it's what they do; prey on straight men. and what makes you think you're at all desiberable to homosexuals. from what you've said I doubt you're desireable to women let alone men. here's a little secret the gay community has been hiding for years: they dont want your virgin ass

You don't have to be Christian, true that's the majority of boy scouts, but that's also the majority in the US.

so discrimination based on religion is ok so long as the view is held by the majority of the population. hey a big chunk of your population is one or two ticks away from being functional retards but that's ok because it's the norm

I have a friend who's Buddhist, he's a boy scout, I have a friend who's Hindu, he's a boy scout, I know two Muslims who are boy scouts. If you don't like the requirement to believe in a god I repeat: it's a volunteer organization.

because belief is god is mandatory for things like hiking and fishing, setting up your tent and making a complete nativity display with nothing more than birch bark and acorns

really some of you are just ripe for ridicule. it's like you're trying to be ridiculed

You know, I've only ever been to scout meetings at the church since it was a church-sponsored troop, but the only religious thing we ever did during the meetings was say a prayer at the bebginning and the end, like any church gathering. Hell the opening prayer was part of a "combined" opening thing when the boy scouts were with the church's girls to go over announcements and shit before we split up, and the prayer wasn't even part of the boy scout meeting.
If I went to a troop that was part of a school or just a community troop, I don't know if they would say a prayer before and after, probably not. So that leaves zero religion during the meetings... infact, the only thing religious at all I can think of in the program is you say "under god" when you say the pledge of alliegence, and they have a specific award for pretty much every faith there is that you can get by being in scouts and your church for a specific amount of time. The award isn't mandatory for advancement and is way in the back of the book.

it isnt a case of whether or not the Boy scouts are openly religious. no one is disputing that

it's that you are denied admission if you are openly gay and or atheist.

According to the Bylaws of the BSA, Declaration of Religious Principle:

"The Boy Scouts of America maintains that no member can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing an obligation to God. In the first part of the Scout Oath or Promise the member declares, ‘On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law.’ The recognition of God as the ruling and leading power in the universe and the grateful acknowledgment of His favors and blessings are necessary to the best type of citizenship and are wholesome precepts in the education of the growing members."[2]

During the membership application process and as a requirement to obtain membership, youths and adults are required to subscribe to the precepts of the Declaration of Religious Principle and to agree to abide by the Scout Oath and Law, which include the words, "do my duty to God" and "reverent". Youths are also required to repeat the Scout Oath and Law periodically after being accepted as Scouts. The BSA believes that atheists and agnostics are not appropriate role models of the Scout Oath and Law for boys, and thus will not accept such adults as leaders.[2]

Position on homosexuals

Since 1991, openly gay individuals have been officially prohibited from joining the Boy Scouts of America

Guess I missed which part of the discussion was being discussed.

In that case, I've never met a gay boy scout. Retarded, yes. Unbelievably stupid, yes. Useless, jackass, irritating, dumbshits, yes. Gay, no.

Oh god, don't get me started about boy scouts. The ones that I have met are uppity, too-rich-for-their-own-good, and they usually blindly follow Christianity and don't even acknowledge evolution, or even another god (I.E. Buddha).

of course not:

openly gay individuals have been officially prohibited from joining the Boy Scouts of America

they're "incognito"

so it's another thread topic that you wont participate in because like omg religion

I don't like scouts, nothing there is apealing to me, I WANT to draw, IT IS MY DREAM to make video games, not go in the forest and wait to die for 7 days. Plus, all I ever do when I go to scouts is tell the younger scouts what "NecroPhellia" is. THEY JERK IT OFF IN THE TENTS!!!!!! I'VE HEARD THEM DO IT!!!!

There is absolutely no demand whatsoever for nerds who can draw anime in the west. So avoiding all other social outlets to draw Naruto isn't going to get you anywhere.

Seriously dude, either grow a pair and tell your dad your too lazy/apathetic to play campalong or suck it up and enjoy a camping trip.

To everyone else:

ha... that quoted section and that pic makes me think of the scout jerkin it in a tent.

BOINK

Now that lefty mentions it I can't not think that the scout is jizzing in his pants there.

Stern, please note that the Boy Scouts in America in no real way reflect the modern Scouting movement across the rest of the world.

Within the majority of Scouting gays are openly accepted and religion takes a backseat - we are spiritual, but not religious, hell at least half of the Rovers I know are atheist or agnostic...

this should be obvious to the point that it's not worth mentioning

I'm openly atheist and I had no problem with that, here it's like being a biped. Of course, US is quite different story...

Too much to list.

Why don't you people like nationalism?

Your avatar is a picture of a Chinese communist from Fallout 3.

Think about how the pre-war United States is portrayed in Fallout 3, and how The Enclave is portrayed there. In this game, the first US government was led by nationalistic fervor to destroy the world--as were the equally nationalistic Chinese. The second US government "enclave" was led by nationalist furvor to attempt mass genocide of "impure" individuals.

Now tell me, would you want to live under such a government?

Nationalism creates an "us-versus-them" mentality with regards to the rest of the world. It is an arbitrary choice of one patch of land over another, and claiming that this patch of land is better than the other for no reason other than it is ours. It promotes a violent international field filled with giant powers who each want to grab as much resources, land, and power as possible. This is a recipe for a miserable international front filled with war, espionage, and fear.

That's the BSA Law in its entirety, if you think there's something wrong with that moral set then you have some serious issues.
Teaching people to obey authority without question is a terrible thing. I know children do need to be obedient to a certain extent as they cannot understand the reasons behind things much of the time, but I would be very much concerned that the idea of obeying the man in charge because he's the man in charge could be something they would carry on to adulthood. I think such blind unquestioning obedience diminishes one's humanity.

The best counter to the scout is probably the pyro. Depending on the situation I'd go heavy.

Glad I could help. Good luck!

i see what you're saying but like you said, they're kids. Parents expect obedience without question for the most part resulting in the famous line "because i said so". I think it's only natural for a child to slowly start thinking for themselves yet still maintain a healthy respect for their parent's/boss's wishes.

when they hit 18 they can riot in the streets with no pants, i highly encourage this.

naw parents only expect complete obedience 48% of the time

I for one support this new 50% initiative. three cheers for the 50% initiative!!!

o_O

BECAUSE IT INVOLVES SCOUTS AND THE ADMINS PROBABLY ASSUMED IT WAS ABOUT TF2!
