StarCraft II

I think I'm almost done now...wish I didn't have to go to work lol
I'm really liking the story sofar :)
and I won 2 out 6 matches sofar which is pretty good considering I never played SC1

One of the achievements is to complete the storyline in under 8 hours of gameplay, so cutscenes or hanging around on the ship etc doesnt count.

Some of them seem really difficuly to pull off.

So thats a probable couple of million in the UK, 6.5 million predicted for the US and 48.6 million in Korea.

holy **** :O

i actually thought for a second it meant outsold the full 11 million ww sales  but its just uk :p

It probably will. I don't see how it hasn't except for the fact that people prolly bought SC1 when it was cheap and don't want to spend that much for SC2.

I still have no idea why they'd let all the Korean WoW players have it for free unless there just weren't a lot of WoW players in Korea and they wanted to sell a ton of recurring action.

Oh yea i'm sure it will outsell it eventually just not that quickly :p

And yea, i think thats the only way the korean WoW thing would work. If this wasn't just a deal for existing players but new ones too then i could see this being a way to sell WoW in korea. Smart tactic considerin most successful MMOs in korea are free to play i believe but if you throw starcraft 2 in to the mix... ;)

is there a way to destroy your building, cause I kind of got my units stuck....

I haven't been following this thread, so this may have already been posted (screen redraw fix): http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/02/AR2010080203303.html
Yay fourth time and they all said the same thing about not reading the thread first!

My interest has died down for the time being after running out of battle commentary videos to watch, I must admit they are terrifically entertaining to watch while being walked through the strategies in action. I've picked up a lot of stuff without actually owning the game (yet).

I keep reading a lot of praise for the SP but traditionally in every RTS game I've owned I play a few SP missions then move onto skirmishes and MP / Co-op. I appreciate people are saying the story is super interesting but I always struggle immersing myself in that from the birds-eye-view perspective. Without the story driving my progress, the trial version I was given to play the SP felt like an actual job of specifically tailored scenario skirmishes with a few variables here and there. With that weight I'm happy to return to the fun I get from skirmishes & MP which is insanely addictive and challenging.

Thought I'd finish it today, but I got stuck in the Supernova mission.

It is actually quite easy if you simply build a fleet of Banshees but it took me a while to figure that out.

Just the Valerian missions to go now.

is there a way to destroy your building, cause I kind of got my units stuck....

Most Terran buildings can fly.

I haven't gotten to the missions yet. How often can I expect to encounter special units?

special units? as enemies or friends?

I faced standard zerg for the most part although there is a plot echo from brood war is a waiting for you ;)

Not entirely sure what you mean, so I'll guess. Note, this spoiler is going to hold what BW units you can play with in the campaign..

Medic, Firebat, Wraith, Goliath, Science Vessel, Vulture. I don't THINK any more, but I could be forgetting.

I thought I'd give out this little warning here:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=258258

Some Email scammers are targeting StarCraft 2 players in their latest trick to nab Battle.net accounts. I remember shortly after Diablo 2 was released there were all sorts of scammers who were trying to get access to player's accounts through scams.

Man just finished the campaign. Very intriguing ending, but not to spoil anything, seemed all too convenient.

Is the SC2 strategy guide worth the the price? If not where can I find a good break down of strategies and units' strengths and weaknesses?

Depends on whether you're willing to pay for it or not.

Free guides are generally vague and hard to understand, especially if you dont know the acronyms. When I first read about Zerg Speed build or a Terran M&M&M build I laughed at how I had no clue what they were on about.

http://shokzguide.com/ is a good bet.

There was a site I found a while back that compared the best 3 starcraft 2 guides with a tick-box style, saying which one had what etc. It also explained which one was best for beginners, intermediates and pros.

Cant remember where it is.

[edit] and 2 seconds after posting, I find it.

http://starcraft2-strategies.com/

A bit on the expensive side in my opinion, considering official guides off the shelves here in the UK are between £5 and £9, which is about $15-20.

BUT you wont get anywhere near the kind of info you will find in those guides if you bought a PRIMA guide for less money, as those guides are written by players for players, not just so you can understand how to build, how to select a unit, how to complete the campaign etc. Those guides will be focused on the MP and winning.

Personally I think guides are a waste of money, because you can usually find the answer to anything about the SP game online in forums as someone will always be stuck in the same place as you, but more importantly, the only way to learn how to win online is to keep playing and learn from your mistakes.

Is the SC2 strategy guide worth the the price? If not where can I find a good break down of strategies and units' strengths and weaknesses?

In my opinion, yes. About one-third of the 430+ pages are devoted to the campaign and the rest focuses on multiplayer. Usually half of that is stats, but I was surprised to see that it all useful content. You can consider it to be a very extensive manual.

I don't think it's good unless you're collecting it. There are plenty of sites out there that help you out for MP strategies much more. www.teamliquid.net comes straight to mind.?

I always hated guides. I think it's way more fun to play a game and learn things on your own. Using a guide is like having someone sit beside you and tell you exactly what to do all the time... the equivalent of a backseat driver to me. I only use guides when I'm completely stuck or looking for secret things that I'd never find on my own. My friend always buys these JRPGs and all that crap and the guides... then follows them page for page. So basically he spends ~$70 to press buttons as dictated and watch a game happen.

This is kind of nifty...
Taken from http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=136683

hey guys,

yesterday i discovered that there are starcraft2 battle.net player profiles accessible via the new starcraft website (random example: http://beta-us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/49404/1/). since then i have been working on a signature generation service which will read your profile stats.

as there is no way (that i know of) at this time to get from your realm, name and character id to the battle.net profile id, you have to provide it yourself.

how to get your profile url?
just go to http://beta-us.battle.net/sc2/en/ for US or http://beta-eu.battle.net/sc2/en/ for EU and sign in.
if you click on your avatar or name on the top right side, you have found your profile url.

I'd appreciate any type of bug reports, feedback and feature requests.

get your own starcraft 2 signature at sc2sig.com

I have a questiong,I buyed the game and made a battle.net account, but when trying to register the game I cant acces the account,I put my email adress and password but nothing,it goes back to the login screen

what happens?

I'm able to log in just fine. Are you logging into EU or US servers?

342320-1.png

I put spain as residence country so I guess it sould be on eu servers cuz I am in europe

I put language as latin american spanish,is because of that?

That wouldn't cause a problem, RJ.

Just to clarify, are you trying to log into Bnet through SC2? What is the exact error you are getting? If you try going to http://beta-eu.battle.net/sc2/en/ can you log in there?

tryed login trough windows explorer and worked I dont know why

registered the game so I guess I would be able to play it now

seriously if the selected language thing is the reason then is a very dumb one cuz I put as location spain

I like this thing.

Also a big thanks to StarBob who, in the other thread, helped me out with getting a
secret.
