Stern's countdown to 30,000 posts

So it was all for nothing....or was it!?? Somethings not quite right?

Anyhoo, wonder how long it will take Stern to rack up the posts anyway. Can't wait for some noob with more posts than Stern to accuse him of being a noob due to his postcount.

Even with 15000 or 30,000 posts... one can still be a noob. It's all in the mentality.
 
i think it's stupid to reset the post count.

I mean stern has been a great member to this site, his posts weren't spam, and they were always relevant. I think the post count should go back to "honor" stern for his activity on this site for so long. What other way can someone distinguish a veteran on a forum other than their post count/status?

To reach 30,000 posts without spamming or an extremely little amount of spamming is an accomplishment and i think it's sort of disrespectful to demote someone to the bottom of the ladder just because he/she reached 30k posts.

Idd. I meant i'm just waiting for a reply to Stern along the lines of "pfft who da fuk r u nub? Here since May 04 and only 10 posts" etc :)
 
He got reset because he made a thread. That's how it's always been. No special treatment.
 
I think HL2.net is a pretty cool guy. Eh resets Setrn's postcount and doesn't afraid of anything!

But, I still want to hear from Sterns mouth if this was his wishes as well, or if he just thought it would have been funny. I, for one, think Stern was all for his count being reset, as he's stated numerous times, the number is of no attachment to him. Maybe this is just a way for him to show that.

After much lurking of the catacombs of this forum. I discovered that at one time custom titles were available at 1000 posts, but was abused then gotten rid of. And before 2005 there were many threads on the forum ranks and the list was gladly provided. The rank scanner was actually at a couple thousand posts. The highest rank was Strider at 10,000. But now we have combine overlord. So the ranking system has changed since then. Munro was asking for suggestions on high ranking post counts including 30,000. He said it didn't even have to be HL2 related. But I saw no good suggestions.

The ranking system has changed loads of times. At one point we had Futurama quotes as titles.

Just note... the full scope of what happened was not contained within these threads. There have been many threads which have been locked and deleted that contain the rest of the answers.

but how will i ever find out the answer if pieces of the puzzle have been deleted? i sense a hole in the time continuum...will the balance of the universe ever be restored? this extremely important historical event reached such epic proportions that can only happen once in a lifetime, and i missed it. maybe i wasn't ment to witness it? maybe it was some higher supernatural force protecting me from something i could not control?

Did you miss the darkmind and samon collective fiasco as well? Cause that was crazy as well, just not as epic as the CptStern ascension.

I'm not sure if there's an accurate one anywhere anymore, there's one in the private staff forum though.

Also to clear up contention, there IS a HL-related (er, mostly) title for 30,000 posts, and it has nothing to do with Stern or Fenric.

by the way just a question if soemone has a useer title "banned" dcoes it mean he 'is actually banned? no custom tielts as far sai know
 
Yeah, that means he is actually banned. Why else would there be titles saying banned?

This needs to be chronicled in the wiki right ****ing now (preferably by Sulkdodds). I can't do it because I missed part of it.

nope I don't think so. Pesmerga was banned though for reasons we don't speak of.

In my lurking of the catacombs of HL2.net I think someone had a custom title of "banned" when they were allowed for people with a certain amount of posts.
 
Banned they are indeed. Pesh got too many infractions (over 15 points worth) so is banned until some of them expire and his total goes below 15.

Can you go in a time machine, go back a couple years and post what title 30,000 posts is? Since it was acceptable back then?
 
just to clear things up ...I started this thread because I wanted my postcount to be reset ..it wouldnt have happened otherwise because I wouldnt have made this thread for any other reason except to reset my postcount ..the number is meaningless imho and just became a liability ..but thanks to all who protested thinking it was punishment ..it wasnt, I asked Pi (and other mods) to reset it

I'm still going to tease him.

His current postcount is 30000 - 29994 as of this post.

it was dragging me down ..one too many times I had to run back and help it up during a particurarily hairy situation ..it was time for old gertie to put to pasture ..I've been saving a bullet when the time comes, I keep it under my pillow in case it happens during the night
