The people who came in late didn't get to see all the threads and the true chaos of the event.

This completely sucks that Sulkdodds lost his moderatorship for having a little fun event that involved the forum. I'm pissed.

Oh, and I swear I saw a member here once with 45,000+ posts or something and he had some special forum title that had nothing to do with HL2.

oh and sulkdodds was an unforetunate but necessary sacrifice ..his deeds are now legendary, his accomplishments are now forever recorded in the annuls of history ..I am humbled before him for he has given the ultimate sacrifice so that I may retain my sanity
 
Surely you would be pissed off if one of your moderators essentially abused his position to mess about with the forum without your consent? Sure, no harm was done, sure, I cleaned up the mess myself, sure, I warned in the mod forum that I was going to do it, but it was still me abusing my priveleges to orchestrate a great big immature practical joke. It looked like chaos from someone who is generally diligent in the execution of his duties. How do you think he saw it?

I did not imagine it would cause him actual distress, but in hindsight, that is something I should have anticipated. As I hope I made clear to Munners, indirectly and directly, I will take any action he finds necessary with grace.

I have no intent to reach 30,000 posts. I just post for my fun, not for a number.

I was way ahead of Pitz until I stopped posting for almost half a year when I left the forums. But he surely caught up anyways. Heh.

Post count doesn't mean anything to me.
 
I think if you get 30000 posts you become an instant mod.

So the mods were afraid of the potential unbalance of powah of Stern moddom and severely cut his posthood.

Oh, that and I think the title at 30,000 was either changed before Stern placed his last (well, 4 posts ago now) post to an inside joke in reference to him, or is called something similar to 'The Dark Elf' in memory of ol' Fenric. I swear I remember it being discussed years ago.

the most posts on a forum i've ever seen was the guy i posted a link to anime-forums. 31,000something posts.

i'm sure there are people with much a higher post count somewhere on the internet though
 
I've seen a few with post counts well into the hundreds of thousands on other boards.

Sick.
 
I don't remember exactly, but I think 99/00 timeframe.
 
How exactly do you change the post count?

I'm curious how the forums calculate your post count. I guess it's just a running counter in a database table, rather than actually calculating the amount of posts you've made on the forums (select count(*) from postsTable where userid = 1337). So every time you make a post, it does an update on that field that contains your posts and adds one to it, and if a post is deleted it will do an update but minus one.
 
But the newbie forum is nonexistant. So it will just be a 'hi' forum.
Newbie threads died off many years ago*.
