Steve Irwin is dead

Yeah but still, he isnt a diver, he's a croc hunter. I imagine the price on those things will skyrocket.

true, true...
It'd be a neat item to have to remember him by either way. I think his death may actually cause a lot of his efforts to get a bigger spotlight. Which, for the cause he crusaded, conservation and animal rights, its actually a good thing. I just wish the consequences were different.

Sad to see him go. :( Heard it on the radio this morning. I didn't hear it so well at first but I heard "Steve Irwin" and "dead" and thought "wtf, nooo!".

Loved watching his documentaries. He will be missed.

Seems like theres not many people that don't know know. I think it's struck people worldwide. It just shows how much awareness he rose and that he will be dearly missed.

I hadn't seen his Croc show in a long long time. The last thing about him I seen was that south park episode about the frozen 90's guy.

I'll miss him.

Steve Irwin was better than Jeff Corwin in every way imaginable.

Steve, I salute you.*salute*

My mom just told me about it...

Talk about a random incident... its sad.

I've been watching his shows since I was very young, he was the only guy that managed to make a documentary interesting, and I did learn a lot from him.

Sad to see him go.

I wondered just how long it would be before the tasteless images showed up on the internet. Nothing is sacred or respected here.

The internet. For shame. :(

No... ;(

For a moment there I was expecting the thread to begin with "...dead tired of getting no phone reception while hunting crocodiles!"

But theotherguy already made that joke.

That's exactly what I thought, even though I'd just heard it on the news.

Really sad, i used to watch his show all the time. R.I.P :(

That's it. Australian stingrays are going the way of the dodo bird, now!

Think thats bad? Take a look at the wikipedia page. Every 2-3 seconds some idiot vandalizes the page, and the admins aren't putting up protection. I even saw one quote : "Approximately Sep 4th 11:00 steve irwin was killed in a car accident with weird al yancovich's parents". Idiots man idiots, no respect at all

edit - well there's protection up now. finally. Just reading some of the stuff on the page is just really upsetting, like how he grew up around and loved animals. Its a real shame. And this morning when I first was told about it I thought it was bs and laughed. Man I feel real bad :(

Holy shit, I knew he was passionate about his animals, but I never knew he was THAT passionate, man thats a trait that isn't common amongst people, we really have lost a special bloke here.

Well there is that photographer Austin Stevens, I think he idolizes Steve Irwins, but he shares the same compasion for animals that he did, his shows are great fun. But still...

the man was a really cool guy with alot of passion for animals. rip steve :(

Damn, I was just reading up on this. Do you know how rare it is to be attacked and killed by one of those things? Shit.

Supposedly his wife is hiking in Tasmania and doesn't know yet, supposedly.

RIP :(

The events were caught on camera, and the footage was handed to the Queensland Police.[26] After reviewing the footage of the incident and speaking to the cameraman who recorded it, marine documentary filmmaker and fisherman Ben Cropp speculated that the stingray "felt threatened because Steve was alongside and there was the cameraman ahead."[26] In such a case, the stingray responds by automatically flexing the serrated barb on its tail up to a maximum of 25 cm (10 in) of length. Cropp said Irwin had accidentally boxed the animal in. "It stopped and twisted and threw up its tail with the spike, and it caught him in the chest. It's a defensive thing. It's like being stabbed with a dirty dagger." The stinging of Irwin by the Bull Ray was "a one-in-a-million thing," Cropp told Time magazine. "I have swum with many rays, and I have only had one do that to me."[27] In this case, the motion struck Irwin's chest and pierced his heart.[26]

this video is going to be all over the Internet soon
