the GTA IV thread

I'll still be getting both, couldn't really give a rats ass if they're ripping off GTA or not :)

The only thing that looked remotely funny about Saint's Row were the Shock Pads. They'd be fun for about a minute.

Oh, and I'd buy it if the Bear was an actual bear that you could ride around on.

In fact, GTA needs more animals in.

Yeah, that SR2 video had me cringing at their poor attempt at humour. Comparing that video to the Gamestop ad, it's pretty clear that Rockstar are the pros here.

I had more fun with Saint's Row than Vice City or San Andreas. It captures the over the top gameplay of the original GTA beter than the last 3 in the series - it certainly featured better driving and combat. Having said that, I doubt SR2 will be as accomplished a game as GTA4 (it no longer has the advantage of being a generation ahead for a start), but still can't wait for co-op. That's going to be superb.

Yeah. The post with this image pretty much sums up my feelings towards that guy.

This post is my fave:

'I wonder what I'm going to do while my GTA4 installs...'

Yeah, fanboys sucks.

I wish all fanboys would just die, alongside their families. I hate'em so much. I honestly do, be it PC, PS3, XB360 or Wii.

THEY ALL DESERVE TO SUFFER.

Gargantou, the Hitler of fanboys.

What about people like myself who are mild fanboys. I don't froth at the mouth when someone say's 360 sucks and I don't rabidly go after the other consoles but I will lol when I hear of a PS3 failure and often giggle uncontrollably when I go to the rental store and the PS3 selection is smaller the the Game cube.

That it's abnormal? For one, you're not a MS shareholder so you don't benefit from MS profits. It also does you absolutely no benefit to see another console "fail" as it reduces competition.

I mean, do you boo at someone for driving a different brand of car than you? All these companies here are trying to make as much profit from you as possible, which in this case means offering you a console system. Does this mentality really mix with your own consumer benefits?

If a car company made a car and made several mistakes with it, then saw people driving it around pretending it was as good as other cars out there. Then yes. Yes I would.

Or - if by seeing how many more people own my brand of car, companies start making previously exclusive merchandise available for my brand as well.

Or seeing as how the more popular cars suffer from spontaneous combustion.

EDIT: I don't think the car thing works, let's stop doing it.

Yes, but there are recalls for faulty workmanship in cars. Microsoft would not pony up the ducats for a full-on recall and instead offered the lame-brained shipping exchange method. Saved them a lot of money, but boy did it cost them.

I thought about GTA IV two minutes ago.

And came.

[edit] o wtf dubbl proast

That's twice in a row. Congratz.

I just suffocated someone with a plastic bag and beat them bloody afterward.

EDIT: Oops. Wrong controversial game.

wat? I just pitty PS3 owners. Almost no games, incredibly expensive console and have you noticed both heads of Sony games Japan and US quit? A familiar term comes to mind "rat's leaving a sinking ship. You almost sound like you have never heard the term fanboy until just now.

Now Blu-ray has won the war I see the PS3 as the most essential piece of AV equipment around - it just happens to play games too. There's nothing to pity, especially when the exclusives come around.

This is kinda OT, but it doesn't deserve its own thread.

Is anybody having strange issues with Live right now? I can connect, see 2 friends online, but I can't get anything else to work. Shortly after this I get disconnected.

Let's not turn this into a PS3 vs 360 thread or whatever. Theres no need. Everyone has their opinions, just leave 'em until a different, more specific thread. Or not at all, either is good.

Anyway...

I was just watching 24 and pretty much through all of the action/Bauer scenes I was relating everything to GTA. Goddamn it's made me giddy with excitement. Casually standing in the middle of the road unloading pistol rounds into the windscreen of a car before it swerves away at the last second and crashes, piloting helicopters to missions (I don't know about the rest of you, but I use to use helicopters for missions all the time. Rescuing someone or picking someone up was always so much cooler in a tactical landing/drop kind of way, but that's just me), unpredictable car chases...

I can't wait. Sadly, my first 5 hour art exam is on the Tuesday. :( Looks like I'm going up in the afternoon.

Uh-oh. That reminds when I had an exam on the day that Dream Theater released their new album. I was giddy with anticipation all the way through the exam until I got home. D:

I'm getting excited for this now. Just watched the Bonus Round on Gametrailers and I want it NOW.

Err, aren't you usually boo hoo whine whine when it comes to consoles?

Tell me about it. I failed my maths exam because I was going to Download festival straight after it. I had my camping bags with me by my desk n' all. :D

****ing morons.

Seconded, you can bet your bottom dollar that if that slug Murdoch had a controlling interest in Take 2, his TV shows and Newspapers would be singing a different story. One of the great tragedies of the modern age is that the governments of the world have let people like him get as powerful and all pervasive as they have. :dozey:

Oh, just could of sworn you're usually very anti-360/console whenever an appropriate thread props up. Lots of name calling, ''dumbing down'' comments and what not.

Nevermind then!

Because it's true. Bioshock/Thief 3 etc etc.

The next person to try to start a fanboy fight will get a royal skull****ing from me, just give me your adress.

New interview on IGN - http://au.xbox360.ign.com/articles/868/868124p1.html

How large is this Liberty City compared to the version in GTA III?

Garbut: In terms of pure landmass its roughly three times as big. But it's far more dense, varied and detailed. I didn't actually realize how much more dense and detailed until I reminded myself just now by overlaying the two maps. There is so much more of everything in GTAIV.

its roughly three times as big.
three times as big.
Wat.

How much larger was San Andreas? Can't have been that big... but hasn't it been said that GTA IV will be smaller than SA?

Goddaaaaaaaaaamnit wantwantwant.

Bad^Hat, San Andreas was 5 times as large as Liberty City(GTA3), 4 times as large as Vice City.

But one has to remember that it was far less detailed than GTAIV.:)

Yeah San Andreas had large expanses of well... underdeveloped terrain that I'd visit only briefly driving through. I'd never be there for any purpose... which sucked.

Ah, fair enough. I didn't really play SA that much, mostly just watched my friend play his game, but it never really felt all that large to me. Probably because of the huge expanses, unless you were in a city it seemed like you were always driving to get somewhere instead of actually taking part in the world.

Anyway, I fully intend on getting familiar with every nook and cranny of (new) Liberty City, so I wouldn't want it to be too big. :D
