I preloaded usually a day or so after as I had to wait for my ISP to mirror the content.

Ok apparently I only have 75% after all... Needs like 2 hours to download the rest. Screw that... Back to fixing HL2.

I read that someone said HL;S not being downloaded could be the problem. So I thought to start downloading it but it seems to think that I already have it. Going to try HL:S and see if it works.

BAH! Did the same thing as above... Copy and Pasting the Console entry Hopefully this might shed some light on the subject.

Ok, Uninstall and reinstall went off without a hitch. Phase 1 complete. Looking in the SteamApps folder and all there is, is the platform.gcf So now I will close Steam and copy over all but the platform.gcf from my backup. Then I will load Steam back up and load HL2 and see what happens.

Ok, I could have something guys... I moved the Steam directory to a new drive and launched it from there. When I loaded up HL2, the VALVe intro DIDN'T play and went straight to the menu. When I went new game, instead of loading a single pip on the bar and crashing... It loaded up roughly...

I would hope so But something tells me they wouldn't have their coding staff in the office at midnight for a "just incase if" More then likely they are going to wait for the start of the business hours.

That is from a guy in the HL2Fallout forums... He has the same specs as someone else who is having this problem here. Not a hardware issue.

Lame excuses for software vendors "It's your hardware" And amazingly, the next patch they release... It fixes your problem IE, UT2003

Hows this... I went to load the first C17 map and I got this error in the console... Host_Error: CMapLoadHelper::Init, map models/props_c17/light_cagelight02_off.mdl has wrong identifier Seems to me, the steam install is MISSING a lot of files. I mean did VALVe even test Steam installs?!

Ok, deleting the HL2 folder didn't help at all ;o

So if I delete the HL2 dir in the Steam folder, and reunpack, should work?

Well that goes the theory of old GCF files :| So far, appears to be only the Steam installs.

Yeah... Waited so long and yet have to wait a few more days for a patch. *Yawn* So over HL2 ;) :P
