mongo, you probably didnt read the "big" thread about the stutter. i read it from the very day of hl2 release until today (i have the bug), and there were people reporting the bug, with all kinds of hardware, some people with really ultrshighend pcs, etc.

good system, but I would get
a) more harddrive space
b) win XP pro instead of home
c) forget the soundcard, i checked the specs of your mainboard, and it provides 7.1 sound (8CH (=channel))
maybe Steam can regognize if a CD key is from a retail version or a version bought over steam. so, maybe even if you load the game content via steam using an account which is using a retail CD key, the game might demand a DVD in the drive in order to start.
can anyone confirm what the case...

hmm, seems to me like it would be clever to make a new steam account for the next valve game. with 1 cd-key/account you wouldnt be totally screwed if something goes wrong with a game
