Also, check in the BIOS and make sure that the onboard sound is enabled. It should be as default but it can't hurt to check just in case. :)

1920x1080 I don't get any of the crashing issues i did when the game was first released. But every other time i load up the game i have bizzare corrupted shadows, which can be solved by restarting or rebooting. Would be nice if it was sorted in the next round of drivers or patches.

Yup. I had the same problem and found that alt-tabbing out and back in actually worked, failing that a reboot. Odd ! Have you changed any drivers etc. recently that could explain this ?

I generally use Scan and Overclockers. Pretty much everything i've bought has been from one of the two.

That is the exact board i would go for if i were looking for something around that budget. However i am also not sure that board is certified to cope with the current 140W phenom II's. There has been plenty of success with the X3 Phenoms. Not sure about use with the X4's though...

I would have thought that at that resolution the slightly higher spec of the 2 configurations would actually run Far Cry 2 at above medium settings, not far off of max. With the odd framerate dip i'm sure, but pretty well i'd have thought. and TF2 won't be a problem at all.
