Your argument falls apart when id's project lead on Q3, Tim Willits, says this:
“My biggest failure was Quake 3,” Willits said. “The game offered perfect multiplayer for hardcore players. In fact, they're still playing it. But the more casual gamers, and other people who actually have money...
We have created a little zip file with an icon and the edited gameinfo.txt:
http://dystopia-game.com/files/dystopia_icon.zip
Simply extract this out to your Dystopia folder and restart steam.
Your Dystopia folder is located in a path like this:
..\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\dystopia
Season 2 of the Dystopia Global League is taking sign ups now. If you're part of a clan who is interested in checking out how Dystopia plays in a competitive setting, swing by the DGL site and check it out.
Season 1's single elimination tourney went very well, giving all teams involved some...
The biggest assets in a mod will generally be the levels. The Dys Demo was nice and small because it only contained 1 level. Vaccine is 23 meg or so.
Since there were 96 maps in HL1, I'd expect the BM: Source package to be pretty damn huge :)
I like it. I also like that they've updated the games list and now include mods along with commercial titles:

Yay for Dystopia!

^Ben: Sorry, when I posted I didn't realise that email had been sent out to the HL Coders list. I thought it had been specifically sent out to you.
As for sending our 50 words and screenshots, done and done.
I'm guessing that people are getting confused because this is halflife2.net and therefore just assume that any news posted here must have something to do with halflife2 / source engine.
We're still running a closed beta. We'll continue to use our bunch of excellent testers to hammer any new features / maps / tweaks before they're pushed out to the public.
That's the difference between a public beta and our demo release.
My current favourite load out is:
heavy, ion cannon, thermal, legboosters
I find it most satisfying to pretend not to see enemy stealthers. Just as they close in on you with their katana out, hit em with an ion and follow it up with a fatman fist. Turning a light into a hail of gibs with...
You do realise that all the previous examples of mods which Valve have helped go retail have remained available for free as mods for people who have HL\HL2?
Don't die :)
When you're whole team is taken out the oppersition need to be rewarded. When you're sitting there bitching about the 30 second spawn time, the enemy decker is taking control of cyberspace and getting ice + mine on all the hack screens.
Also, if you simply can't stand the...
This is exactly what Team Dystopia think. It's also exactly what I posted in the thread on our forum which seems to have kicked off this entire uproar about paying for Dystopia.
How much clearer can we be:
We have no intention of charging for Dystopia unless it's a stand alone product...
In an attempt to clear up what seems to be a wide spread misunderstanding:
We will only ever charge for the full release of Dystopia if we're able to organise with Valve for it to be a full stand alone game. We will never charge for Dystopia while it's a HL2 addon.
Team Dystopia is very eager...
The demo will be released on the 9th of September. It will require a copy of HL2 to play. It will be free.
The full release will only be sold if we're able to organise with Valve for it to be a full stand alone game. We will never charge for Dystopia while it's a HL2 addon. It amazes me that...
