here comes the backlash on this one!!!

no, you wouldn't necessarily raise your price, but would you lower it?

you said repeatedly that prices will come down when they make more money...i asked you for what possible reason?

and you come back with this?

wait, how are they forcing you to use them? you do actually have a choice.

If i understood it correctly palladium will be integrated in longhorn, and dx 10 will be longhorn only and i wanna play games, hence forcing me to use it if i want to play games on a pc without any linux h@x.

...apparently you haven't read much of this thread. Software companies can/will make games run on Pallidium ONLY, meaning if you're not on Longhorn with the Pallidium module running, it won't install/run/work.

Also, DX10 is more than likely going to be a Longhorn exclusive, meaning if you want DX10 effects in games, you'll have to use Longhorn.

Edit: I'm slow, Maxi wins :)

well that isnt forcing you i mean if you want to play paladum games then you must buy paladum doesnt sound difficult to me.

you dont have to use paladium but if you dont you wont be abel to play htose games thats just the way it is. it isnt forcing you to do anything though.

also dx11 will be better so i dont see what the big deal is.

HEY!!! Is Longhorn going to ditch dos and be a OS built from scratch? Fuc*in dos, i hate it. If does is gone then the world will be brighter!

Posey, you said way back in like the 5th thread that Having sex with someone under 18 in your home is illeagle....thats not true...itsn't it 16 chief? any age under 16 is stachitory rape.

Longhorn definitly looks like an "invasive" OS. I hope linux triumphs.

so? you don't have to play the game. you're not being "forced" to do anything. it's a word that doesn't really belong in the context.

wow.. that's like saying "You don't have to use Windows, but if you don't, you won't be able to play Half-Life 2, that's just the way it is."

Also, the DX11 comment is like saying "Also, the Pentium 6 (assuming they keep with the number scheme) will be better so I don't see what the big deal is."

You could say that about almost anything in life.

The age of consent is 16 (in America, not sure about the entire world).

Posey, the only thing i can draw from you is that your a 14 year old spoiled brat that lives under the supervision and guidence of your rich parents that give you everything you want and you don't need to think about money cuz you've never had a job. Let me tell you something buddy...money doesn't role easily and if you don't have a high paying job...it's hard to get anything you want...especially after college. So just leave this forum because we could all benifit from your unintelligable posts. I'm sick of reading your crap

Flame complete

omfg, i suddenly find myself on the same side as mr. pink! oh well. look, stop saying you're being forced to do anything b/c microsoft is tying their api to their OS via paladium. you don't have to play the games if you don't want to. i can't drive a car without buying gas, deal or ride a bike. what? they're games; they're a luxury.

actually if you are positioned on a decline. you can drive down the hill without gas. pushing it up another one though is hard work

i'd be fine with that if microsoft was the one producing games.

however, microsoft is basically turning the PC into a console gaming system...except you choose which games you get to play by choosing which OS you buy instead of which console.

the best part about PC gaming has always been that if it's for PC, you can play it as long as your hardware doesn't suck.

now, you'll have to dual boot or something stupid if you want to keep your computer as a real computer and not just some "microsoft home computing box"

from webster

-drive-

to direct the motions and course of (a draft animal) b : to operate the mechanism and control and direct the course of (as a vehicle) c : to convey in a vehicle d : to float (logs) down a stream

the mechanism being the steering wheel in this case.

what about businesses? alot of businesses run on computers, thats not a luxury

That might be from a dictionary, but im using physics and common sense, when you say you are driving a car, do you mean that you are stearing a vehicle with a mind of its own, or are you using the gas an break aswell?

Also in physics, you aren't driving the car, tehchnically the reaction inside the cylinders when gasoline is burned drives the car, not you.

Thou you are correct from a litteracy point of view, you aren't from the common sense one or the physic one.

so Posey where in this thread have i bashed u? if discussing is bashing u.. im so guilty

as far as business practice goes.. if im MS, and i feel i can raise the price by another $30.. tell me whats stopping me? apparently.. nothing.. why? because MS has a monopoly on the market.. and the closest competition (Linux) are not anywhere near the ability to make their OS as user friendly as Windows..

theres no reason to keep prices steady and theres definitely no reason to down drop them either.. because of the monopoly factor.

i conceed that it sucks. but it's within MS right to do (unless some antitrust comes down, but until then..). and all i object to is the use of the word "forced". i've never been forced to play a game before.

until you stop using words that are defined in a dictionary, i am right!

Yes, from one point of view. The world isn't black and white youknow, its grey.

with increased revenue, theres less reason to raise the prices than to keep them the same or lower them back to normal.

quick maxi! switch the order of your interior letters to foil posys scheme!

back to normal? huh? when did they get raised?

again...why would a company that starts earning more money lower their prices?

what a ****ing depressing world you live in.

this thread is odd. I want to leave but i can't because i know if i leave posey will keep saying stupid things that i can't correct him on because i'm not here. It's like lord of the rings only with a minor instead of a ring.

do you seriously think if there was no piracy, that prices on software/music cds/ etc would be what they are right now?

do you seriously think that if microsoft started suddenly making more money that they would lower prices? what possible reason could they have?

stop dodging my question!

I think that the 'cost' is highly exaggerated as to the 'damage' caused.

Not that you're asking me, but I do believe they wouldn't drop. It's like Maskirovka has been saying, what would be the point of software companies lowering prices on games if they're making more money because people can't pirate games any more? Doesn't make alot of sense to me.
