Dead Space is looking well....pretty damn sweet

Jesus, I'd have to beat my own ass into submission to decide which one to pick.

I'm going to get both and then not bother to eat for the next two weeks afterwards. It's worth it, right?

Also, that launch trailer is awesome. Good choice of music but in general some great footage. Big giant **** off baddie in zero-g on top of the ship? Cool.

The game's not due out here for another week, so don't spoil nothing kthx.

I'm seeing if my friend can get me a copy from his friend at EA really cheap. But I might just get it for full price if he can't, if people here and some other forums like it. So if you've got it I'd like to hear your impressions.

Every time I think about Dead Space I get a little upset. Because of my preview for the game, EA contacted Wegame and invited me to the release party, but since I don't work there anymore I (probably) can't go. I drummed up a lot of interest for that shit, too. It's a real kick in the pants.

I say 'probably' because I never contacted them to see if I still could go, but of course I doubt it. What good is a reviewer when he has no platform to review from?

Will we be able to download the exclusive suits in Europe? The PS3 one is up in america but not here :(

Isaac gets his head ripped off. It was pretty brutal.

Theres also a video on Youtube of a guy getting Isaac caught in an asteroid shower. Messy stuff.

The head thing was nothing, there's a baddie whose kill-sequence literally has every bloody part of you being severed, legs, arms, head, torso.. It's gory as HELL!

Hahaha--yeah, I think I remember seeing that in one of those compilation videos. Good stuff...though weird because it doesn't make too much sense out of context.

To anyone that hasn't picked this game up yet or is waiting for release, let me say this: it's ****ing amazing. The sound design is perfect, the texture work is awesome, the lighting is brilliant, voice acting is spot on, and it's the creepiest game I've ever played. I've never jumped so much in a survival horror game. I don't think anything, maybe not even Silent Hill, can trump this. I almost can't believe I'm saying this about an EA game.

Another goddamn week to wait here. What the fock.

I hate release dates. Damn you america!

Or maybe damn the UK too to keep the racials from flaming me.

The game seriously is insane. Some of the best sound of all time! Lighting is perfect, character design and voice acting! Im at Chapter 6 half way. Playing the game on hard on my 1st run. Im also only using the mine gun. Going to try and get the One gun achievement 1st run. So far there are been some close calls. I had like 6 shots and 1 bar of health. Was insane!

Since you're well into the game, is there any way to revisit areas of the Ishimura to pick up schematics or power nodes that you may have missed?

the IGN video review says there is back tracking, but that's all I know.

Just got done with a 5 hour marathon with this game and it is awesome.

To those playing - how in-depth is the customisation of the suit and weapons ? And how many hours would you guess that it would take to complete the game ?

not very custom. It automatically upgrades so you can't choose the color or whatever. And I would say its a 12-15 hr game if u play on hard. Maybe longer. Haven't finished it yet.

Customization is limited to upgrading your armor slightly and gaining more inventory space by buying new suits from stores using schematics provided you've found them and spending Power Nodes at work benches to link different points on your armor/weapons/tools until they reach an upgrade point. When upgradin the RIG armor, nodes give you more oxygen and health once the node points are reached, weapons give you options for reload speed/damage/range/ammo capacity, and your stasis and kinesis have upgraded capacity/extended time and range, respectively.

As for length, I'm about halfway done on chapter 6, but I've been playing for about 7 hours. A lot of that time was spent exploring the ship and finding supplies, credits, schematics or Power Nodes for upgrades. It has a damn good length.

You cant do it willingly so far. Even tho for the story's sake you do back track to previous parts of the ship.

Its deep enough for a game like this. I think its perfect. Im at Chapter 6 and clocked in around 8/9 hours. Id say the game is 18-20 hours long. Playing on hard is really what i recommend. I'm also doing Plasma Gun only for the 1st run.

wow that's pretty long!

I'll probably be on hardest setting when I first play too, I want as much as I can get out of the game :D

Yeh, Definitely play it on hard. From what I gather so far(i'm on the start of ch.4) playing on hard feels like a medium, but there are parts, usually the last parts of each chapter where the game actually feels like you're playing on Hard. Not only is playing on Hard actually not that hard, but playing on hard gets you an extra achievement that you don't get playing on easy or medium.

the graphics look dope as hell, the sound is amazing and the dynamic indicators and map hologram is awesome, it adds much more immersion. Even at the upgrade benches or stores, you're always in-game, there's no "freeze" just because you're looking at inventory or whatever. I was buying ammo and medicans and I heard a monster making noises... so I figure since im shopping, everything else is probably on freeze, nope I almost shat my pants when I hear a loud screeching noise followed by a slash to my back, lol.

I have a gameplay question, is it like RE4 was at some places where enemies respawned indefinitely?

This game should have an achievement for dropkicking x amount of babies. Also, spoiler about Chapter 6.

MOTHER ****ING REGENERATOR NECROMORPH CHASING YOU THROUGH THE ****ING SHIP GOD DAMN YOU CRYOGENICALLY FREEZE HIS ASS BUT STILL THAT WAS A MEAN MOTHER ****ING BLOW HIS BODY APART WHATS HAPPENS GOD DAMN HE REGENERATES YOU RUN MOTHER ****ER RUN. That's how my experience went at least.

I'm really enjoying the game. I just finished Chapter 6. Two things I can say about it:

1. It's like Resident Evil 4, but better in every way.

2. It's closer to a spiritual successor to System Shock than BioShock ever was.

Ha, that's what I was thinking about last night. Especially enemies sneaking up behind you. It's like "DO DO DO DO minding my own business. Hmm, something doesn't feel ri-OH GOD WHERE DID YOU COME FROM."

My god I want this. Stupid New Zealand not getting the game 'till the 24th :(
